  • A check from my employer bounced. What recourse do I have?

Two weeks ago, my employer wrote me a check for the hours I worked the week before. Last week the manager who wrote the checks ended up getting fired for embezzling funds. All of the payroll checks that he wrote that week bounced, including mine. My immediate supervisor told me the company owners were going to wire transfer the funds to my bank Thursday of last week. No money was deposited into my account as of now. After the three day Christmas weekend, I went to the same supervisor today (Monday) and he said he was trying to get a hold of the company owners to get the issue resolved, but couldn't get a hold of them yet.

I've worked for this employer for over four months, and they are a well established company. So I don't think they are going to cheat me, but I am suspicious. How long should I wait before I file a complaint to the Labor Board and/or file suit? What other recourse do I have with my employer before I file a complaint with another company/lawyer? If they don't pay me in a reasonable amount of time, is there any other options I have? I live and work in Arizona. Thank you for your assistance.

  • I've lost a couple of inches off my waist - should I buy new pants now or wait?

I started an exercise program in December of last year. Before I started the program, I had about a 34 inch waist. Now my waist is around 32 inches. My pants will still stay up with a belt, but it's getting to the point where they are starting to bunch up when I do that. I think I'm due to buy new pants, but my concern is that 6 months from now I'll slim down even more and I'll need to do it all over again. Should buy new pants/slacks now, or should I wait a few months?

  • My microphone won't work in Windows XP. How do I fix this?

When I try to record my voice using Sound Recorder, my microphone does not pick up any sound at all! I believe it is a software issue as I fixed this issue on my PC a few months ago using a tutorial I found online. I can't find this tutorial now. If I recall correctly, I believe I changed some settings in the Volume Control. I checked the settings there and I think everything there is correct, but I'm not sure. What should my settings look like in volume control, and what other settings can I check/adjust to get my microphone working again? Thank you for your help!

  • What is the best way to write a resume if you had several assignments with a temp service?

    Hello,

I have worked for the same temporary service since December of 2008. I have had three assignments with them total during that time. I worked at a college from December of 2008 until February of 2009. Then I processed mortgage applications from February until March of 2009. Then from April 2009 to present I do data entry in a bank. How should I write this correctly on a resume? Should I just put that I worked for the temporary service from December 2008 through the present time? Or should I list each individual assignment individually? Any help would be appreciated!

I just joined a new blogging social networking site called SocialSpark. There are a lot of opportunities there to make money - a lot of them involve posting ads on your blog. However, when I try to take advantage of the opportunity, it tells me I don't qualify. What specific qualifications to I need in order to qualify for paid opportunities there? If anyone is established there and knows what I need to do, I would appreciate it! Thanks!

  • I got a rejection letter from American Greetings. What does it mean?

Recently, I sent some artwork to American Greetings with greeting card ideas. A month later, I got a rejection letter from them. This is a section of the letter noting the areas that need improvement:

Please review your submissions with the below listed feedback in mind.

TOO SIMILAR AG has similar in our database.

OTHER Consider working on cartoon panel.

The first part seems pretty straightforward, that the company has other greeting cards similar to the ideas that I sent. I wasn't sure what "Consider working on cartoon panel" meant. Are they saying my artwork needs improvement? Or are they saying something else? Your feedback is appreciated!

  • Why are my videos played on my computer not playing right?

Within the last month, any videos I play on my CD/DVD player play slowly as if there is not enough memory on my computer. I don't think it's an issue with my memory as videos I play online and my hard disk play fine. I am running the Windows XP operating system, and I primarily use Windows Media player, but the other videos players have the same issue. Please help if you can. Thanks in advance!

  • What would cause a car to act strangely after leaving a car wash?

My girlfriend has a 2002 Hyundai Accent with about 130,000 miles. We took it to a car wash. After leaving the car wash, the check engine light started flashing and the engine shook. After about 15 minutes the shaking stopped and the car drove normally again. This happened about 3 weeks ago and there have been no issues since then. What would cause her car to do this?

  • Can you give me feedback on my article please?

I currently collect old magazines. Fifty years from now, I’ll have a really impressive collection and I can show them to my grandkids. This is how the conversation will go:

“Here’s a rare magazine – the number one Time Magazine from 1923. Here’s another rare magazine – it’s the number one MAD Magazine from 1953. Check this one out – here’s a REALLY rare magazine – it’s from the year 2000. It shows Britney Spears without a strait jacket!”

  • Is my friend responsible for damages/cleaning costs for her apartment?

My friend and her boyfriend broke up in April of 2007. Her boyfriend signed a document releasing her from being tied to the lease at that time. She moved out, and her boyfriend stayed in the apartment alone until the the lease ended in September of 2007. Now, a collection agency is trying to collect $250.00 from her for damages/cleaning costs for the apartment.

Wouldn't her boyfriend alone be responsible for the cleaning costs? Should she dispute this debt? Or is their some weird law indicating that everybody who stayed in the apartment is responsible for cleaning costs even though they didn't stay for the duration of the lease? The apartment is located near Phoenix, Arizona. Please advise.

In the older Garfield comic strips, Jon Arbuckle always had a tough time finding a date. In the more recent Garfield comic strips, Jon now has a steady girlfriend. When did this happen?

  • Can someone help me with drawing my comic strip more efficiently?

Currently, I am drawing a comic strip. Right now it is being drawn in black and white with art pens on Bristol paper. My issue is, I am finding that drawing the rectangular panels that go around the comic strips take a lot of time. I have tried two methods with this. The first method is just doing it the old fashioned way using a ruler and my art pens. The second method I use is drawing the comic strips at first without the rectangular panels. I then scan it into the computer and use software like Paint to put the rectangular panels around my comic strips, then edit my artwork so that my artwork fits neatly within the panels. Both methods take a lot of time.

Can someone recommend a more efficient way to draw my comic strip panels? I am considering purchasing the Wacom tablet, so if that is your answer, please give me a little information about the product and which one to get. Thanks!
