  • The speakers on my computer are not working. Help!!?

I have an HP desktop and it was like one day I was turning on my pc to listen to some music and nothing. They are plugged in correctly. I was turning on the switch and I noticed the lights weren't coming on. And sometimes they'll come on, but the majority of the time they haven't been working. It's like I had to fool with the plugs in the back of the speakers for the light to come on, but nothing's happening... I'm guessing that I would have to face the obvious and buy new ones, but I want to see if I can do anything before I do that.

  • How long do you think the media will talk about Michael Jackson?

I am proud that he's getting a lot of recognition, but a lot of it is too little too late, and I"m kinda disappointed that some stations are now focusing that he had a drug habit and that's not right considering he's dead.

  • Would you put a job that you were terminated at on your application?

I am asking this is because when I went to the Dept of Labor in Ga, there's a pamphlet about filling out applications, and it recommends not to use the words, "fired" or "quit" because of the negativity. But to put looking for another opportunity or something like that. But in a way that's kinda lying. And the crazy thing about is that I got fired from a job and they were about to promote me but they alleged that I falsifyed my application, when I didn't. However, I did get unemployment from that company, but I'm still not a rehire. I missed out on a job when I listed that I was terminated and that really sucked. Any suggestions? I was at that job for almost a year. I know this is gonna sound crazy, but I might leave it off one application just to see what would happen.

  • Why is it that some excons get jobs quicker than people who do have a record but no jail time?

I know a few guys that actually did prison time, but have jobs, but I know a lot of people with a criminal background but didn't do any jail time, and did probation but can't get a job. I feel if you've paid your debt to society without spending time behind bars should preceed someone who went to jail. Not saying that they don't deserve a second chance, but I just think that's kinda backwards.

  • Has anyone purchased the magic jack, and if so how is the service?

It seems like a good deal, but I know that just because it sounds good doesn't mean it's always good. But if anyone has it right now is the service crappy or is it worth investing into? I'm spending like sixty bucks for phone service and it's the same every month with unlimited long distance but hey, I see the commercial for magic jack and I just might need to make a switch if anyone is using it and can vouch it's worth it.

  • How much could I get off my employment discrimination suit?

If there's anyone who's a lawyer or has had a law suit like this please respond: My job "released" me off my job last year because I was pregnant. I filed a charge with the EEOC and I just talked with the mediator today and said that my employer wants to make a settlement. She said it has to be reasonable, and don't expect to "win" like the lottery. So what would be a reasonable amount? I'm thinking about going somewhere in the six figures and they might talk me down but i'm cool with that though. I was thinking about getting a lawyer, but I don't have any money. It's not like they would be doing a whole lot of work because I had to file the charge first before I could get a lawyer. So does anyone have any ideas or the maximum I would get by settling?

  • Men: What do you guys really want in a girl other than the obvious?

I'm not talking about sex, we all know that will come down the line, but women can get mixed signals when you want a girl like this and that but want something else!!! Some guys like a lady in the street and a freak in the bed? Do you agree? What are some qualities other than looks, that really make you fall for a woman?

  • As a women, do you feel that it's in a "man's nature" to cheat?

From my personal observaation and to talking to a few folks here and there, when they talk about their men or their friend's men, sometimes the response is, "oh, let him be a man", or he's just being a man? But is it really in a man's biology to cheat? Or is it that our society deems it okay? It's crazy that in this country that polygamy is against the law, but if you're single you have a whole bunch of women. But in other countries where you can have multiple wives, it seems like every one is acceptable of it. What do you think? Is it in their genes or is it pure B.S.?

  • Why is it that white women will date black men but hate black women?

I'm not saying that as a whole. But I do tend to notice that just because a white girl is dating a black man, doesn't mean that they're down for everyone black, including women. Do you think it's because they feel like they're being scrutinized to the point that they should be discriminative? I'm not saying that just because you have to be down with everyone just because you date outside your race, but I noticed some women have this scowl like someone is going to steal their "black" man. And FYI: I have interracial family members, so I'm not racist, but I feel that you shouldn't be nasty to no one regardless of who you date, and don't make it a race issue. Not everyone is going to agree with your choices in life, but I'm down for the mixing of it all if you're in love with that person and not for the "color" scheme....

  • Why is that black women tend to "hate" on each other?

We as "sistahs" have all done it some time and some where: at the club, at the store, on the street. We roll eyes, and size each other up and don't know each other from a to z. I read Apr. Issue of Essence and the editor talked about that subject. And we as black people already put each other down already, and we as black women really do it to ourselves. Is it cultural? An "inside" thing? I just want to know because I think we're about the only race of women that does this. It's bad enough we're on the bottom of the totem pole, and then on top of that we downplaying each other. Any thoughts? What do you think?

  • How can I get my 4yr old into modeling?

I know I'm tooting the horn, but i have a 3 yr old going on 4 with a bright smile and a personality to boot, and I really think that she would be good to be in an ad because she loves to take pictures and dance. She's just a straight ham! Any advice on how to get her noticed with an agency?

  • My ac blowing hot air?

I have a 96 mercury grand marquis, and when i hit the ac, the air isn't cold. I think I need frion, but I haven't had a coolant flush in a while. I initially took it to a shop to get one and then the mechanic looked at it and told me that i needed frion but it could be something else and that i would automatically have to pay 35 bucks to even diagnose the ac system alone? Any guesses as to what it could be?

  • Has anyone noticed that there's social disparities on tv still?

I've been noticing something for a while. Even with all the interracial relationhips, gay and lesbian relationships, it still doesn't cross over in advertising! Have you seen a tide commercial where the guy is doing laundry? Have you seen a white girl and a black man portraying a married or a dating couple on a commercial? Have you even seen a gay couple being in a commercial about stds? With all the mixing of social relationships, tv advertisements still give out the message of segregation. The bottom line is that, I haven't seen any relationships that were black/white, gay, lesbian in a commercial, when they are obviously part of the targeted audiences as well. Do you think that there would be a lot of people offended if they did do something like that? But on tv shows they do it all the time, just not on commercials. I thought that's kinda facinating... how about you?
