I have been reading about Einstein's Theory of Relativity lately and there are two concepts I just don't seem to understand.

1. Is it true that the observer changes the event in some way? I understand that the observation of an event changes based on the position and velocity of the observer, but does that actually change the event itself? Or is it just that different points of view yield different observations?

2. Since the theory of relativity is mostly concerned with what happens when one is traveling close to the speed of light, I assume that this means that Relativity is only relevant for space travel. So what are the practical applications of Relativity here on Earth?

I was watching the movie "RAY" and I noticed that Jaime Foxx as Ray Charles walked very funny... kind of a shuffle with his whole body moving from side to side then I saw footage of Ray walking and noticed the same thing.. did he have some sort of medical condition with his legs?

If I am still in one place for more than 2 minutes, the cat will come up and meow and meow and cry and nuzzle up against me till I pet her. Then she purrs and purrs. OK, That's what cats do.

But when she jumps on the bed at 3 am and meows in my ears and licks my face to wake me up just because she wants me to pet her, there is a problem. If I close the bedroom door, she howls at the door and scratches against it. How can I let her know I need my sleep time and I cannot be disturbed between midnight at 6:00 am?
