Evidence Jesus never claimed he was the "Son of God"?
So, I'm of the opinion that Jesus never went around saying he was the son of god. I think this was something written later by people who edited the original biblical text.
So for those who disagree with my stance, how do you explain the following?
It clearly states in the Torah, in Isiah, that the 'son of god' would have the name "Immanuel". I understand modern christians have their excuses of why this is not contradictory with their beliefs, but it is still a large problem that needed to be addressed.
Such a large problem be it, that any person who had even skimmed the Torah AT THE TIME would have known this was one of the prophecies that the 'son of god' had to fulfill, even if it could later be explained away.
However, not once in the New Testament does any one ask, or does Jesus explain why, his name is Jesus and not Immanuel. Would EVERYONE really just brush over this glaring mistake? Or could it be that no-one ever asked because Jesus never claimed it, and that was put in only later?
Thoughts?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhy do Christians get so upset when people call it Xmas and not Christmas?
I keep hearing people say things like "Let's keep Christmas about Christ", but do they realise that the 25th of December was a pagan holiday until THEY stole it?
I'm not saying I want to steal your jesus celebrations. I just want to celebrate something on the 25th of December as everyone else is celebrating (JUST like you did with the pagans) , and I would like to keep some of your traditions too (JUST LIKE you did to the pagans)
But don't worry, I won't start killing you if you don't start celebrating my new holiday (UNLIKE what you did to the pagans...)
So stop being so damn hypocritical and let me have my christ-less Xmas!
28 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoDid you know that if you accept Jesus as your Saviour?
Then spiritually speaking, you're wrong.
There aren't really many questions that I can make sarcastic comments about at the moment, so how is everyone's day? I'm from england and it is SO FREAKING HOT RIGHT NOW.
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoObligations of a Landlord?
I am a University student renting a property for the second year. Last year whilst in the property we noticed a leak from the shower room causing damp patches on the living room ceiling. We informed the estate agents about this twice, once over the phone and once in person. We have just returned from our summer break and nothing has been done about the leak.
The estate agent are a bunch of w******, and my worry is that if there is serious damage they will claim they have no record of us contacting them about it and blame the damage on us.
Our contract is an 11 month contract, is there not some sort of law that says they should be doing regular checks on their property or something like that? Possibly while the house is not occupied?
Anyone who can link me to the EXACT (or a relevant law that will help me out) will get Best Answer
Thanks
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate10 years agoBruised shins, no trauma (It's not shin splints)?
So last month I started doing a lot of exercises, and my left shin (which also has a tibia pin in it from a previous injury) started becoming very bruised. I assumed it was shin splints or something related to my tibia pin, so I went to the hospital to get an X-Ray and they said I had no sign of shin splints, but told me to stop excercising anyway.
So I stopped excercising and the bruising went away, I thought that was the end of it but now my OTHER shin has become very bruised, and again I have not been doing ANY excercise and there has been NO trauma.
What the sh*t is wrong with my legs...?

Found on the most popular British News website, an awful article by a journalist I've never heard of trying the convince the merry ol' British people that "Religion can tell us more than science".
Check the comments and see the author of this article get totally destroyed. Americans, you'll have to wait at least a hundred years before you get free of your stupid beliefs. Makes you sad, doesn't it?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoTo those who think that <Insert Religion Here> is wrong?
To those who want proof that <Insert Religion Here> is the only true religion;
Here are some quotes from <Insert Book Here> (Even though it is evident that you don't believe in this book, I think it should still be considered proof because I believe it)
Here is a (probably incorrect) opinion that Science doesn't adequately explain some phenomena and hence the only rational alternative is the explanation presented in <Insert Book Here>
Here is me claiming I can feel <Insert God's Name Here> in a particular part or various parts of my body
So make sure you convert now to <Insert Religion Here> otherwise my all loving God, who created you, will have to punish you for not being created perfectly and not worshipping him. If you can only let <Insert God's Name Here> in to your heart then I know he will save you.
1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality10 years agoComparison between jesus and other religions?
I'm looking for ACTUAL comparisons between jesus and other mythological people. I would like to see source included, and websites like "jesusisnotreal.com" do not count. Cite articles that do not themselves compare with jesus please.
What I have so far:
Zoroastrianism:
Has a trinity, composed of Ahura Mazda (The uncreated creator), Mithra (The god on earth) and Apam Napat (god of water), however it is still monotheistic, with Ahura Mazda being that "universal" god
Ahura Mazda is described as the "beginning and the end"
It has a heaven and hell, and all our souls must pass through a judgement
Seven is an important number (The first thing Ahura Mazda did was create 7 spirits)
Has a form of Baptism (Bathed in water, with a mark being put on the forehead)
Mithra was considered the Saviour and the Messenger
Mithra often depicted fighting a horned beast, usually a bull
Mithra rose to heaven

5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoIf god "intelligently" designed us...?
why did he make use so we have to be asleep for almost a third of our life? We could have used that time worshipping him, praying for things instead of going out and doing them, and arguing against scientific facts. Instead we have to sleep for almost 8 hours a day!
And before you try to claim god did it because of original sin, actually the bible says adam and eve slept:
"So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept" (Genesis 2:21)
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoDo you think in 3000 years time...?
Little kids will be playing "Age of Mythology 3000" on their computers, fighting as Jesus, Moooohammed, Vishnu or whatever, building their little temples, praying for god points to power up their Civilisations. Team Christians will probably have a "Great Flood" power up, Team Muslims will probably have the "Method" power up, where all you villagers turn in to Suicide Bombers (a bit like Saboteurs on Age of Empires"). Jews will have "Jew Gold" where they get a continual stream of Gold.
And while they play, just like when we play games like Age of Mythology now, they will be laughing and thinking "Ha! I can't believe people use to believe this crazy stuff".
Also what team would YOU choose?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoWhat are your views on how Muslims are perceived?
As an Atheist, I think they are especially unfairly treated in the media, when words like "Islamists" are used to just describe the fundamental minority it pushes the view on to the impressionable public that all Muslims are bombers.
Another reason I think they are less accepted is because the dresses they wear and beards they grow make them instantly stand out, and we easily notice this and instinctively react negatively to the things we do not recognise.
However saying this, they generally seem to refuse to interact with people beyond their Muslim community, and obviously this can naturally cause paranoia within the wider community. There also seems to be a large number of them heavily criticising or pushing to change Western laws and customs, making those native people ask the question "If you don't like it, don't come here"
Try to keep the bashing of their specific beliefs to a minimum, but mention if you think it is relevant.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoIs America just more stupid (on average) compared to the rest of the Western World?
I also visit the Maths and Science section, and I've seen American University Students asking about Maths I did at 14. As well as that their biology classes must be awful seeing as evolution is obviously not taught properly. Is the American education system failing them? And seeing as there is a direct positive correlation between education and atheism, is that why there are so many religious people in America?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoWhy do people believe in Creationism?
and why do they say there is no evidence for Evolution? Just gonna go through some common misconceptions of evolution
Evolution as a theory AND a fact (a fact means it has been proven beyong reasonable doubt):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_as_theory_a...
Biological Evolution (The one you always argue over) has NOTHING to do with the big bang and abiogenesis. It is also NOT THE SAME as natural selection and genetic mutations, it just says that things became more complex over time:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution
Again, evolution is NOT abiogenesis, if you want to learn about abiogenesis (Which has been recreated in labs, and those conditions don't even have to be recreated somewhere in earths history, as there is growing evidence life originated on a body that was not earth)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis
Genetics, Fossils, Anatomy and Geography of all animals on the earth coincide EXACTLY with predictions made by evolution:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evidence_of_common_de...
And this is why essentially every biologist agrees with evolution
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_of_support_for_...
Now watch as people question wikipedia as my source, and then post links from creationsim.org to refute me.
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoSeeing as Adam and Eve didn't really exist?
so they couldn't have performed the "original sin", what do you believe Jesus died for?
