I am an atheist and rationalist. I am not a big fan of UFO hunters or the religious. I am into maths and physics and hope to dispel myths and nonense as a sceptic - which doesn't mean I am closed minded. I teach IT and dither around with synthesizers - perhaps in the vain hope of playing the right notes to get a saucer to land in my garden. I am also a bit of an eco-warrior - the earth is in dire straits and needs help. I think there is usually a rational solution to everything - so far - there has been little to convince me that is not so.
Any solutions to Keratosis? ?
I recently developed very bad blockage of my follicles. I have steroids and acid washes and creams, has anyone any idea how this happens or how to stop it?

1 AnswerGoogle3 years agoWhy do people not comprehend the scientific explanation of the universe?
This question was posed:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArdQP...
And there seems to be little acceptance of what science says about this. Is this because the US is tarnished with creationist thinking and cannot accommodate a break of cause and effect?
What is wrong with these articles:
http://members.fortunecity.com/templarseries/randr...
http://members.fortunecity.com/templarseries/big-b...
Why are they insufficient for people to accept how their universe does not need a creator?
Is science too complex for the average mind - or is it a sheer matter of not wanting to accept that you maybe wrong?
8 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoWhy am I getting a popup?
Yahoo answers is giving me a "Your answer has been shared" popup message - I have turned all sharing off - and specifically turned off sharing answers - I tick the box that says "Don't show this message again" -but it always shows - this is annoying - how can this be stopped?
4 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoCan there be an investigation of 'mind' by science?
Frontier brain science is currently trying to determine the nature of consciousness. But metaphysical objections are raised when science tries to examine the subjective - that is - how can science investigate "me" when my experiences are unique to myself.
Science suggests that the "qualia" of the brain - the capacity to witness and experience is a property of brain function. Philosophers object that science studies the objective not the subjective realm and 'mind' is off limits to science. So what do you think - can science examine the "mind" perhaps by reformulating its remit - or are the philosophers correct in suggesting there is an in principle objection to scientific examination of' 'mind'.
Please do not use any supernatural references - ie God - and please bear in mind that science has the notion of "emergent phenomena" that can occur from an object but that may not be reduced to its functions.
12 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoDoes the moral vacuum suck?
[So to speak!] - The Western world is currently in a moral malaise due to relativism - because of science's success and also the fact that it is not a moral doctrine, many people wonder how they should determine their morality. In lieu of any new moral direction, many of the old main religions and doctrines are trying to shoehorn themselves into the moral space left by science.
None of them really have the solution to today's moral dilemmas. So - what are your thoughts on how to decide moral dilemmas without using any of the existing religions or doctrines? And does the moral vacuum, indeed, suck?
8 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoIsn't it about time David Icke was sectioned?
Okay - this guy is selling books -I have seen interviews and he appears on UFO videos. I agree with him that our politicians are out of control and PC rubbish has put CCD cameras on our streets and all his other big brother paranoia - but - the Queen and the illuminati are serpent-people? Come on people- it is so easy to test this - has he tested it - NO. Icke has joined up unjoinable dots and lost the plot - he IS crazy - shouldn't he be sent for psychiatric evaluation?
Some of the "Illuminati" were VOTED into power - were they lizards BEFORE they became powerful? Hasn't Icke seen too many episodes of "V"? Has his reality concept broken down?

Maybe you've seen the film - maybe you know the story? The Mayans think the Earth is going to have a problem in 2012. Is this just another Dan Brown way of selling movies,or do you think the Mayans were good enough astronomers and mathematicians to indicate something real?

3 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoCorn Circles- are they man made or something more mysterious?
Corn circles - some have been explained as a hoax - more complex ones arrived. Notably those in a fractal formation only arrived AFTER mankind knew about fractals suggesting they are human in origin. Some have it that they are alien communications- but they seem a rather obscure and pointless way of communicating when we have several thousand communication satellites in orbit - so what is your opinion. Man-made hoaxes,or alien messages,or a social statement,or something else?
