  • Why would FEMA charge the victims of the Greensburg Kansas tornado $667 per month rental on the RV trailers?

    In todays local news, FEMA will begin charging the rsidents of Greensburg $667 a month to stay in the trailers provided to them due to the tornado.

    Katrina victims have yet to pay a cent for the trailers they still reside in, 3 years after the calamity of Katrina.

    How can the feds explain this bold, yet almighty ignorant move?

    They do not charge the Katrina victims for their trailers, and then buy/rent houses and apartments for them until 3/09, up to 1200 a month!

    The following was released by FEMA Oct 1st 2008, and is cut and pasted directly from their website.

    NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are working together to find apartments to house the anticipated 2,000 families that will be moving out of travel trailers or mobile homes and entering the rental housing market. In order to do that, they are asking landlords to register their available rental units to help link families with homes.

    FEMA, through HUD's Disaster Housing Assistance Program (DHAP), will pay landlords housing DHAP participants up to 120 percent of the fair market rental rate. In Orleans Parish, for example, FEMA will pay up to $1,188.00 per month for a two bedroom apartment. Payments will be made through March of 2009.

    Individual support continues with nearly $1.3 billion to individuals and families:

    274,758 individuals and families have been approved for the Individuals and Households Program (IHP) totaling more than $1.2 billion;

    216,557 individuals and families have been approved for Housing Assistance totaling more than $851 million;

    134,892 Mississippians have been approved for more than $416 million in Other Needs Assistance (ONA);

    3,627 temporary housing units (travel trailers and mobile homes) in service. More than 39,000 units have been deactivated;

    2,235 total occupied units in the three lower counties.

    Hancock 507

    Harrison 1,171

    Jackson 557

    More than 2,800 Mississippi families who are Katrina survivors have moved from FEMA temporary housing to a Mississippi Cottage. The Mississippi Cottage is a part of the Mississippi Alternative Housing Program, which is administered by MEMA and is funded by a $280 million federal grant.

    WHen will this idiocracy STOP?!

  • AR-15 upgrades, accuracy and aesthetically minded.?

    I recently purchased a Oly Arms 5.56 carbine. Shoots great, but is a plain jane.

    A Navy friend donated a Harris bi-pod, vertical grip w/ bi-pod, collapsable stock with flared cheek rests, and some removeable rear iron sights.

    Since there are just SOOOOO much AR accessories available, I am looking for the higher grade parts as follows;

    Picatinny gas block, floating picatinny hand guard, trigger, trigger guard, grip.

    I have also been checking out the stock weights that are supposed to increase accuracy, recoil buffer and springs that are supposed to do the same.

    I wish to spend $500 or less.

    Experienced AR builders/shooters lemme know.

    Anti-schwoogs and schvatzes need not reply!

  • Ruger blackhawk .41 mag 210 gr jhp and 14 grains of Bluedot?

    I recently posted about cracking the cylinder of my Blackwawk with the above mentioned load, which is in excess of Lees maximum load by .5 gr.

    Recieved 98% ridicule and belittling from the hunting crowd.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AufHR...

    Upon more research, Alliant Powders, via their online recipe pages, print 14 grains is the max load for a 210 gr JHP.

    So I wasnt so damned dumb after all.

    What can I expect to be done, would they pay for the new cylinder?

    I know we arent lawyers here, but are they liable?

    They want the remaining ammo loaded from those specs to test in their pressure gun.

    Any insight?

  • Reloading, and the guns that will handle it? What revolvers handle super hot loads the best?

    Have shot hundreds of the BuffaloBore 230 gr Kieth SWC 1450fps, in my Ruger Blackhawk .41 Mag. 5.5". With no problems. Started my trials by loading half a grain below the starting load,10 grains. Shot alright. Then loaded in half grain increments up to 13.5( Lee's stated max). And checked bullet weight, are all within 2 grains of each other.The best accuracy came from the 13.5 grain loadings. So, I start loading some high pressure rounds the other day. Used the Starline brass(like BuffaloBore does) Federal 155 magnum large pistol primers, Ranier 180 gr JHP, and Bluedot powder, 14.0 grains.(Lee manual says 13.5 max, just had to try ya know!) and it did not compress the powder.

    At 25 yards, shot placement was surgical, dead on. Had some trouble rotating the cylinder. Shot the rest,no problem.

    1st case was cracked twice, and cracked the cylinder, and set the firing pin collar in 1/32" into reciever.

    What revolver will handle hot loads the best?

    Super Blackhack?

  • OK guys, Mauser Yugo M48, looking to make a sporter.?

    Having trouble locating a good stock, prefer wood to composite. Also would like a target grade or adjustable trigger. Love the gun, bought it 5 years ago for $75 in unfired condition, has no blems whatsoever, shoots great for what it is, just the military stock sucks butt.

    And maybe some tips if you have done one before?

  • Is slack in the cylinder lockup of a blackpowder revolver as bad as movement in modern cartridge revolvers?

    I have an Italian brass framed .36 black powder wheel gun. There is some slack in the cylinder lock-up. While it has not seemed to be an issue in the times I have shot it before, I am just wondering if it is as critical as movement in modern cartridge guns, or if it is ok/normal? I have not noticed any chopping of the bullets at the throat of the barrel, and have only fired round balls in it. I have been an almost everyday shooter for many years, but have been looking to get into blackpowder for more "challenge".
