Is slack in the cylinder lockup of a blackpowder revolver as bad as movement in modern cartridge revolvers?

I have an Italian brass framed .36 black powder wheel gun. There is some slack in the cylinder lock-up. While it has not seemed to be an issue in the times I have shot it before, I am just wondering if it is as critical as movement in modern cartridge guns, or if it is ok/normal? I have not noticed any chopping of the bullets at the throat of the barrel, and have only fired round balls in it. I have been an almost everyday shooter for many years, but have been looking to get into blackpowder for more "challenge".

The slack must not be enough to pose danger yet but to answer your question it is just as dangerous to fire a BP revolver as it is a modern cartridge revolver when the cylinder does not line up with the barrel.

Have a gun smith take a look at it.
