  • How would an outdoor cat in North Dakota be manageable?

I definitely want an outdoor cat. They are just so much happier and full of life. However, the winters here are, surprise surprise, extremely cold. Like if it isn t in the negatives in the winter recess is still outside for kids. I would want my cat to be free to roam the great outdoors, but I also don t want him to freeze to death.

  • I want to go into engineering, but what kind?

So I've always liked building things, and as I grew up people said that I would probably become an engineer someday, an guess they are probably going to be right about. What really started the idea of this actually becoming a thing was when I watched this video on the potential for a solar powered road. This road could heat the snow away, light up the road at night , or even create different courts if used in a park. New technologies just gave me a sense of wonder and excitement; I wanted to be part of it.

So I basically know I want to make stuff.

I figure I could work in a smart house company. Just something where their focus is towards smart items.

I am good at math, but not gifted in it, and I love science. I have taken biology, physics, chemistry, and electrical engineering, and I have two more science subjects I can take (I started science stuff early in middle school. Homeschool for the win.) I did not care for biology at all, but I liked chemistry and physics, and tolerated electrical engineering. I figured going into something like robotics or more recently mechatronics, but I have no experience with engineering. Stuff like how it is to actually put it to use, what people love about which disciple they're in and what they hate. Please help me learn more about the engineering fields and which one would fit me best, or which kind of job would fit me best.

Thank you for any answers you give. Even if you don't get best answer, know I appreciate any answers you give.

  • Electrical Engineering: Opposing voltages: Where does the energy go?

I'm learning about electrical engineering, so I am not very advanced with lingo and theory, but I was studying a 555 monostable timer and learning how the circuit worked, and I came upon opposite voltages with a capacitor and the supply voltage. They cancel each other out in current (and voltage? Not sure), but where does the energy go? Does it turn into heat, and if it doesn't could this be used in space circuitry to eliminate heat expenditure? Thanks in advance for your answers!

I want to get a cookbook for my friend for her birthday, and she loves to bake. However, she does NOT like icing, and many cookbooks have lots of desserts with icing.

Can you please recommend some cookbooks without many recipes with icing?

  • Trying to find a book I read a long time ago.?

The time was staged possibly in the 1900. It was about a girl (privileged I think). That got kidnapped by a poor family in the woods or something.

I only remember snippets, which has made this hard to find. I distinctly remember the girl thinking about how she thought if she were kidnapped it would be by men with moustaches carrying her of in a blanket. The search team also found a patch of her clothing torn by a tree branch which helped them find her. She was carried off on a horse.

I believe this was also made into a movie. I m sorry for the lack of information, but I have searched for a while and not pulled up anything.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Also, please do not give me sites to search for books. I have already tried them.

  • If gravity is an energy, can it run out?

So, take the moon for example. The moon's gravity creates waves which we harvest for energy where that goes to an air conditioner and turns into heat that floats out into the universe. That would mean that the moon's gravity was eventually converted into heat. If energy cannot be created or destroyed, would the moon's gravity run out?

  • Short bursts of weakness, loss of balance, and dotted vision. Is it serious?

It has been going on since I was around 6. It is usually in the morning when I am walking or standing up. My vision gets blocked by red splotches that mass up, and I have a weakness and loss of balance. I don t have headaches or chest pains. The frequency comes in a wave, where I don t have any for a while then one week I have several.

I have been kind of lazy asking this question because it has been going on for most of my life, with no noticeable repercussions. Is it nothing or should I see a doctor?

  • I need a book that will hit me right in the feels. (no adult please)?

The title says mostly it all. I don't want adult content, mainly sexual stuff. I am a hungering for a good story. Also, please try not to post things that I will likely have already read like: the faults in our stars, the hunger games, etc...

    Every suggestion is appreciated!

  • Japanese correcting help?

I am bringing an item to my Japanese class for show and tell, and I am supposed to try to explain it in Japanese. I partially used google translate, but since google translate is notorious for translating horribly, I decided to take my finished product and ask people on yahoo answers if my Japanese was correct.

My object is a piggy bank that has an illusion that uses a slanted mirror to show a floating cube in a box. On the other side of the mirror is the change.

    This is my piggy bank

Kore wa watashi no choking bako.

    Can you solve the illusion?

Anata wa sakkaku o hodaku wa dekimasen ka?

    The answer is a mirror.

    Kotae wa kagami desu.

The money goes behind the mirror.

Okane wa, kagami no ushiro ni iku.

(optional; how do I say it?) The slanted mirror gives the impression of a full box, by reflecting the image.

You get the main idea of what I am trying to say. The last one is complicated, so I didnt use google translate at all on that one. I appreciate your correctings! :)

P.S. If you use google translate, you will not get a best answer xD

  • Confusing math problem?

The scale of the map P is 1/p and the scale of map Q is 1/q. Suppose a street is represented by lines of 12 cm long and 16 cm long on maps P and Q respectively.

    (a) Find p/q and express the answer in the simplest form.

I got the answer 3/4, but the answer was 4/3.

    Why did they get 4/3?

  • Why is there rarely any lightning in Okinawa, Japan?

I live in Okinawa and have to write a paper about lightning. I wanted to include reasons why Okinawa rarely gets lightning and I thought it could be cause it is so stinkin humid but turns out thunderstorms thrive on moisture and rapidly rising warm air. Why is Okinawa not a hot spot (hehe) for thunderstorms?

  • Info on 30 years war?

I've been researching like crazy on this paper I have to write but the war is so complex I'm having trouble getting all the answers I need. Whoever answers these questions with good info gets best answer.

    1. Causes? - like I said very complex but I think it was because the Peace of Augsburg was revoked by the HRE (holy roman emperor) creating stricter catholic policies for the german princes

    2. Personalities of leaders? - There were so many players in this I need to narrow it down to the key players. Who affected the war the most?

    3. Military Strategies? - I have nothing on this...

    4. Impact of treaty of Westphalia.

    5. how was Germany impacted?

    6. results in other euro countries

    7. who profited most?

    8. who profited least?

I appreciate any info on this subject. Please don't copy off of Wikipedia though. Thanks!

  • Anime/manga about another world?

An anime/manga about another world? Something along the setting of slayers where their world is like medieval but then not or something like that. I don't want people going to other worlds, just where they stay in one world. I have been feeling like I want a really good story. Something that will make me sad or laugh. Just SOMETHING... ugh I hate it when I want a new story because it is like an ache in your heart that wont go away until it sees a character I like die or something like that xD

aanyways here is the important stuff!

    IMPORTANT^&*^*(@(*!&#^%%@%^&*#(@!

Please no Hentai or stuff like that.

Romance is good but nothing too overpowering

    Action is great

    Comedy is amazing

And most importantly thanks for the answers :D

  • Yoi ichi nichi wo. People laughing?

We are in Okinawa, Japan right now and learning some japanese phrases. We learned that Yoi ichinichi wo (or something along the lines of that) is supposed to mean "have a good day."

However, when we start to say it to people here they burst out laughing! Are we saying something like "May your day be great" or something along the lines of that? Or maybe people just don't say things like that, just like how Germans when they say "I don't care" they say "this is sausage to me."

    Thanks for your answers!

  • Manga/Anime with REALLY good story?

I have been feeling lately that I need a really good story, something like a tear jerker but with a happy ending at the end (possible). I have seen a lot of Manga/Anime so please try to name as many as possible.

Any theme is fine as long as it has a good story. Romance would be nice but I can live without it (too overpowering romance would not be a good thing)

IMPORTANT: Please no Hentai or any genre like that. I don't want to get involved in that kind of thing.

    Thanks for your posts!

Big ones that I have seen or heard of:

    Vampire Knight

    Fairy Tail

    Inuyasha

    Naruto

  • Sherlock. Why did episode 1 (s2) not carry off of episode 3 (s1)?

In episode 3 of season 1 *SPOILERS :)* they ended on a cliff hanger with Mariarty *however you spell his name* and the pool and stuff but then in the next episode *episode 1 season 2* they just carry on like nothing happened?!?!? Did I miss something or are they going into what happened in the next episode. Please try not to give me spoilers about anything above episode 1 season 2, thanks! :D
