If you see me in the Politics section, tell me to get out! I dont have the blood pressure for that place anymore. I am probably checking out the Rock and Pop section or trying to be helpful in the Other-Music section. "Cha Zimbala Bim" With those words I cast a curse on any and all who give me a Thumbs Down for ANYTHING besides a truly bad answer or false information. Test Fate....what do you have to lose?

  • What does this german phrase mean?

Dergib nie die Geimat/wo deine wiege nand/

du findeft in der fremde kein

    zweites Geimatland!

It is written in old lettering, so a couple of letters may be off (the G in Geimatland, for example). My father and I used an online translator and it didnt catch enough words to get the meaning. A full (or fuller) translation would be great. Thanks in advance!

  • Disabled Veterans....can they work construction?

I just had some work done on my property. I had a contractor to do some of it, but the rest of the job was done by a subcontractor.

The subcontractor did a really poor job and was abusive when he was confronted on it. As he left, I noticed that he had a license plate that designated him as a Disabled Veteran (AT LEAST 50% Disabled).....is it legal for him to be a one man contractor company while he is obviously collecting Disability from the government? Is it legal for him to do that kind of work? Seems fishy to me.

  • Where has Supernatural gone?

They took their winter break and came back with 4 new episodes....now they are back to reruns and there wasnt an episode the last two weeks.

I know it cant be because the season is over....last year's season was longer and that was in the strike shortened season!

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • How come Mormons are so wealthy?

Not the church itself, but the individual mormons.

I grew up around alot of rural mormons. They are hard workers with great family bonds, but their financial situation always intrigued me. They had 6 kids in the family with one breadwinner (the father) and the kids always had top of the line sneakers for every sport season.

I now have two friends (from school) who have 4 kids apiece, the fathers work (one is a cartoonist with no job and the other installs window blinds). These families go on vacations and have nice clothes and homes.

Factor in the fact that they give 10% to the church, and it seems strange. My wife and I both work, own a meager home, and only have one child....and we have a hard time making ends meet a lot of the time.

    Any answers?

  • Hey Republicans....do you have a link?

I have been reading through the Elections section for a long time now and I have even posted a few questions. I think we all see what constitutes political discussion. I hate McCain and I strongly dislike Obama, but the McCain camp is very disorganized here and seems to comprised of old folks and teenagers.

I never see any conservatives backing up their "why is Obama a Muslim" or their "Obama hates babies" statements with a link.

I was wondering if you Republicans would give us your favorite "smoking gun" on Obama with a link to a mainstream media source. (dont worry....I wont cry "BIAS!!" like you all do)

  • What is Classic Rock Vol II?

Inspired by an earlier question asking what constituted music as "Classic Rock".

Many people said stuff like "It doesnt matter how old it is, it is just music from the 60s and 70s"

"I hate it when people consider Metallica or Nirvana classic rock"

"Classic Rock is the name for old bands that are no longer together"

" I consider Motley Crue to be Hair Metal, not classic rock"

I said that it was a term to describe music that is over 15 years old.

It didnt get any thumbs up, but that is actually what it is. THAT is why they play Nirvana and Metallica on classic rock stations now. THAT is why the Rolling Stones are still touring and they are also played on Classic Rock Radio.

Of course the music would have to have lasting power, but that is a given.

What answer rings of truth? Which answer clarifies why Metallica and Guns N Roses and Nirvana are being played on classic rock radio IF "Classic Rock" isnt just a term given to music that has stood the test of time for over 15 years? Did they play music from 1975 on Classic Rock stations in 1980?....if not, how can "music from the 70s" be considered Classic Rock IF NOT FOR the time frame that has passed?

  • Why have deployed troops given more money to Obama (6 to 1) ?

    http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/08/troops-dep...

Here is the proof....from a bipartisan source. Even Ron Paul (who was out of the race months ago) has received more donations from deployed troops than McCain has.

Im not for either candidate, but am curious as to why Obama (and Ron Paul who was also against the war) get the most money from The Troops.

  • R&P A Song For Every Day Of The Week?

Can you name a song that features the name of a day of the week....for EVERY day of the week? Correct songs have to have the name of the day in the title.

Sunday (EXAMPLE - Sunday Morning Coming Down - Johnny Cash)

    Monday

    Tuesday

    Wednesday

    Thursday

    Friday

    Saturday

Best answer will be taken by the most thumbs up given to a "full list" (no missed days).

  • R&P A Good Song To Say You Are Sorry?

for jumping on the Nirvana poster about the "blowing out" comment.

According to Buddhist belief, the literal translation of nirvana would be 'blowing out' or 'extinction,' which is explained in the context of Gautam Buddha having achieved his elevated and enlightened state of Nirvana by removing desire completely since it is desire that leads to suffering.

  • Is this REALLY considered "Solicitation"?

I just got reported for Solicitation and I have since reread the terms and conditions and the FAQ.

This is what it says about Solicitation

    What is considered solicitation?

Questions like “Wanna chat?” and “Who wants to grab coffee?” are solicitations. There are ways in Answers to connect personally to others, so solicitations do not belong in questions and answers. Commercial solicitations are usually considered spam, so please refer to the “Can I post my website, email, or personal information in my answers?” FAQ for more details.

Please keep in mind that if you answer a question with a link to another similar question you have answered, it may be interpreted as solicitation or point-gaming, and this may result in the removal of your answer.

    ------------------------------------------

Now...here is the question and the answer

    -----------------------------------------------------

Question: Should the USA become a part of the European Union?

Deleted Answer: No, they are planning the NAU (North American Union), which NAFTA has already pretty much made. Check this out. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTI... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T74VA3xU0EA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brYWujMC-0k

    Violation Reason:Solicitation

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Does Yahoo even LOOK at who/what they are reporting? Is that answer a "real thought out answer supported by facts and multiple links", or is it "Solicitation" as defined by Yahoo? I really am curious, because I have no idea what is going on.
