AIDS confidentiality act??? Does it apply to liars?
Okay, so I know someone who has an issue with somebody telling everyone that they have AIDS. This person is gay, but doesn't have it, as far as I know. I know there is a law that states that if you go around telling people about someone with AIDS, that person can press charges against you. However, my question is, can someone who doesn't have AIDS press charges against someone who tells others that they do?
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoWhich do you prefer for "Just a Dream"?
For the song, "Just a Dream" do you prefer the original by Nelly:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6O2ncUKvlg
or Sam Tsui and Christina Grimmie's cover version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2RA0vsZXf8
Why? Personally I like the cover more than the original, but I want to see what other people think.
2 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWould do you think this really means?
I wrote this poem, but I'm curious if the metaphor is clear enough. So, in your opinion, what is this poem REALLY saying or talking about?
To Catch the Sun
What would you do to catch the sun; to hold him in your arms?
Could you run the world’s length to take him in your grasp?
Would you reach for him though he lies beyond the rainbow?
Could you live in the shadow of his brilliance?
Watching him blaze for another?
Then come to him when the fire dies to make him shine again?
Do you stay and wait, to see if he will set?
As if he would descend to you from the skies?
Would you dwell in the cold, if he never came?
Could you live in the dark forever? If you failed to catch the sun?

Could you please review this poem, and let me know what you think this is about? I wrote it, but I want to make sure my metaphors are clear?

2 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoWhat would you do? (A really weird question) lol?
Suppose someone told you that they could get you two free tickets to see a movie with anyone you wanted. You agreed. Later, you found out that the movie they got you tickets for was a rated R movie called "The Cute Fluffy Bunny." Yes, it is about an actual bunny. Most of the movie is cute and kiddish, except in the end where the bunny is brutally murdered by an evil hamster. But it's okay, because through the power of love, the other bunnies are able to bring the dead bunny back to life and dispel the evil in the hamster so everything is nice and cute again. What would you do with the tickets? How would you react when you found out what the movie was called or what is was about after agreeing to take them?
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoDoes anybody really recover COMPLETELY from suicide ideation?
Theoretically, once someone has had problems with suicidal thoughts or not wanting to live anymore, do they ever really go back to valuing life and regain their will to live? Or is it like a battle or conflict that comes back regularly and once you've crossed over to not wanting to live, you generally don't go back?
Is it different for people who are only suicidal because of a recent issue or temporary negative experience vs. people who are suicidal due to a mood disorder or something.

For admission in the fall, when should I typically expect to hear back from a Clinical Psychology PhD program for interviews? I'm asking because we're in February already and I'm beginning to think that maybe I didn't get in.

Evergreen
From the very day we met, you always dressed in black. Like ebony, you seem to wrap yourself in dark mystery. Yet, you act as a scarlet apple: vibrant and even sweet- a contrast showing that there is more to you than what can be seen. Your eyes are the gray-green shade of olive leaves. Behind them is a pondering mind, like searching roots that travel far. Your thoughts go beyond the shallow soil, reaching towards the deep richness of the earth. When you speak, you are like the upward reaching branches, finding the good to say about others. Your words are the scented blossoms of spring, endearing and never lacking in charm. I hope the cold will never turn your leaves yellow and that you never let anyone cut you down. Don't let your blossoms wither or your fruit rot, but remain as you are: Evergreen.
2 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoIn the first line of Rhianna's song "Only Girl in the World....?
What is the first line to "Only Girl in the World" (Besides Lalala...)? It's hard to hear what she's saying and different people write the lyrics differently on the internet. Here are the variations I've seen:
I want you to love me like a hot pie (do people even say that?)
I want you to love me like a hot ride (I guess she feels like he loves his car more than her)
I want you to love me like a hot guy (in this one, the guy must be gay)
Which one is it?

Loved
~To anyone who needs to hear it
Precious One,
You are loved before your mother can hold you
On the day you are born. Before she even knows
You are conceived, you are loved. When you were
Nothing but a cherished thought in the mind of God,
Like gold yet to be crafted into shape, by Him
You are loved.
When your eyes well with tears and you think you are alone,
He is there. You are loved. When you feel
Like a drop of water in the sea, lost and unseen
In the crowd, somebody invisible has you under His eye,
You are loved.
Before an admirer will whisper your name,
Before a lover will wish for your kiss, you are loved.
Though romance may wash away, like a shell on the shore,
And leave you feeling as worthless as the sand beneath
Your feet, you are loved. Like a shining pearl,
You are loved.
When your bible gathers dust on the shelf,
You are still loved. Whether you are too busy to pray, or simply
Don’t take the time, any way, you are loved. If you come to church,
You are loved, and if you stay home, you remain loved.
If you turn a deaf ear to the voice of God, as though you had listened,
You are loved. Like a sweet song played again and again, remember:
You are loved.
Love will follow you, all your life. Like a shadow, you cannot
Chase it away. If you turn to the dark, it is unnoticed, yet there.
If you step into the light, it can be seen clearly. Like a nail
Hammered into wood, love and mercy have been upon you.
To you much has been given, and for your soul, nothing was spared-
Not even the life of God’s only Son. Eternity is laid out like a table before you.
Come and find that you are loved.
...(yeah, I know its religious)
3 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoAre there a lot of people who appreciate non-rhymed poetry?
I used to rhyme my poems all the time, but then I had a Creative Writing teacher who was against "sing songy" poetry, so I learned how to stop in order to please her. Now, I find that I like the freedom of not having to make every poem rhyme. But, I'm curious what others think. Here's an example of my work, it's an acrostic poem, so the first letter of each line spells out the name of the person it's written about:
Just like the sun, you radiate in my thoughts.
As a leaf gathers light, I hold to you.
My darling, your name is signed within me:
Inked so it stands for all my life;
Etched so it cannot be washed away.
What do you think?
8 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoWhat is the origin of this quote or something like it?
I want to know who originally said:
Love is the strongest/greatest force in the universe/of all.
I'm not sure of the exact quote, it might be paraphrased, but I wanted to know who originally said it or where it came from (I'm not debating that it is true, I'm just curious how this phrase was coined. I want to use it as a beginning quote in a book/story I'm trying to write and I want to give credit). If you can't find the exact quote I'm talking about (possibly because I didn't phrase it right), try to put a FAMOUS quote about the power of love or how it is stronger than anything and who wrote/said it.

4 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoDoes anyone know what species of bird this is?
The link is:

I don't necessarily need the scientific name, I could look it up if I just have the common name, but if you know the scientific name, that would be good. I have a Biodiversity assignment in which I have to find connections and similarities between organisms in several pictures, and it would be a lot easier for me to connect them if I could look up the specific species of bird this was and learn its natural habitat, what it feeds on, etc. Thank you so much.

9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhich kind of fear is worse, psychological or physical?
1). In your opinion, are you more afraid of things that are physically harmful (diseases, fire, heights, snakes, death, ect.) or things that are psychologically harmful (failure, rejection, loneliness, ect.)
Why?
2) (Optional), what are your physical and psychological fears?
NOTE: I don't think most people make a distinction between physical and psychological fears. I just made it up.
2 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoAre most Messianic Jews actually Jewish?
Does Messianic Judaism primarily consist of people who are ethnically jewish (descendants of Jacob), or gentiles? I know it doesn't matter, but I was curious because some people were saying that it is "common knowledge" that many of them are not Jewish, and others were saying that most of them are.

10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWould this be a bad thing to mention?
Suppose a person is applying to a graduate program in clinical psychology and this person has to write a personal statement about their qualifications and interest in psychology. A major part of the reason why this person, however, got curious about psychology in the first place enough to study it and find out that he/she like it is because he/she has a mental disorder (let's say it's bipolar disorder). Do you think that if he/she mentioned this, would it look bad on the application? Do you think graduate schools would discriminate against people with a mental illness, even if they demonstrated emotional stability due to treatment and had excellent grades and academic achievement and everything?
