Recently, Maryland inaugurated Democratic Governor, Martin O'Malley. One of his first acts as governor was to silence a longtime critic by having his popular radio talk show cancelled. Tyrone Powers, a black activist, hosts a show on Morgan State University's radio station. During the 7 years O'Malley was mayor of Baltimore, Powers would attend his public events, criticizing O'Malley's policies that he felt hurt Baltimore's black community.

Within a week of O'Malley becoming governor, he requested tapes of his show from MSU and threatened to withhold state funding from MSU if Powers' show was not canceled.

Of course, O'Malley denies doing so; and, moreover, lied to the media, claiming he does not even know who Powers is.

This was confirmed to be a lie by former Baltimore Police Chief, Ed Norris, who stated that when he became Police Chief of Baltimore, O'Malley went to public events to introduce him to the city and prior to these events, O'Malley explicitly warned him about Powers.

With all of the commotion caused by what happed to Saddam during the last 2 minutes of his brutal life, I think focus on a real problem has been lost.

I just want to preemptively put this question out there, since if, God forbid, Senator Johnson becomes permanently incapacitated; and the Republicans remain in control of the Senate. I am sure liberals will start a new conspiracy theory that Bush or Karl Rove was somehow responsible for this tragedy.

Some of you may not even know he was even a President, and most of you probably only have a vague idea of his policies from History class. However, he was President during an extraordinary, technological revolution that drove the US economy to incredible heights, the largest economic boom in US History. Americans were living the good life and reaping the economic benefits of the "Roaring Twenties." The stock market was high, everyone had a good job making great money, and was becoming wealthy. However, today no one attributes the economic growth of the 1920s to Calvin Coolidge. Most experts say this was just part of an econmic cycle. In fact, the same exact economic pattern occurred 70 years later during another technological revolution. Why then do many people attribute the economic boom on the 1990s to Bill Clinton? Do you think in 60 years Americans will still feel the same way about Clinton, or will people in their 20s then, only have a vague idea Clinton was even a US President?

Nothing like this in history has ever been seen before.

Global warming is to blame for just about every other problem, so probably this one as well.

Personally, I vehemently disagree with almost everything Jim W., Humanist, and many others post. However, I would never report their answers as abuse because I believe they have the right to state their opinions.

Recently, there seems to have been a rash of reporting, as well as, questions and answers being deleted from this forum.

What Yahoo and some people fail to realize is that the only reason why Yahoo Politics Answers is as popular as it is, is because of the free exchange of ideas and the differing viewpoints. Once you start censoring ideas people will lose interested and this forum will die.

If I get many more reports, I feel the only option will be to do the same! Then Yahoo Answers will be a clean, sanitized environment that no one will want to use.

If drugs were legal most liberals would not be able to put down their gravity bongs long enough to go out and vote!

With the exception of a few Christian based ones, all major Universities and Colleges in the US are liberal institutions.

Liberals always claim to be strict believers in personal liberties and in the Bill of Rights, but why did these liberal institutions enact the strictest speech codes restricting the Freedom of Speech of students.

The whole purpose of a University is to have a free exchange of all ideas and beliefs. Certainly, "hate" speech and racial slurs are ignorant speech; but such expressions should not be prohibited.

Thankfully, the courts have struck down, as unconstitutional, all speech codes that have been challenged . But the mere fact that liberals enacted these speech codes seems incongruous with their purported viewpoint.

Worker safety, consumer protection, and higher wages came into existence because of agreements between big business and government, in an effort to stymie big business' competition.
