I've got a ready built Dell XPS 420, purchased in September 2008. With a 1GB ATI Radeon 3870 X2 graphics card.

The problem started when I turned on my PC and the starting screen loaded with the Dell logo which was of poor image quality.

It then proceeded to go into power save mode, from which I couldn't get it out of.

I eventually managed to get into the BIOS and changed to the PCI graphics, which allowed the system to load up. However the when on the desktop screen the resolution had changed and there were many black lines running across the screen.

So at the moment I'm unsure as to whether it could be the graphics card or the monitor or even the power supply causing the issue, or how to find out. And then how to fix the problem.

So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking to purchase a flight game, which is arcade rather than simulator and a joystick to accompany it for my PC. I've been looking at Hawx 2, for the game but i'm keen to hear opinions and any other ideas. For the joystick i'm looking to spend no more than £50. I've been looking at the Thrustmaster T. Flight Hotas X. So once again i'm looking for opinions on this or other ideas.

I'm currently doing the AS AQA Business Studies course, where I have an exam on the finance element in January.

So basically I was wondering which revision books (such as CGP) or online sites provide good revision resources for my exam.

I'm unable to do the following questions, could someone please explain how I need to do them?

1. What length of an alloy wire of resistivity 5.0 ´ 10–7 W m and diameter 0.50 mm is required to make a standard 6.0 W resistor?

2. The heating element of a hairdryer is made of coiled nichrome wire. The diameter of the wire is 0.46 mm and the length of the wire is 7.3 m. Calculate the conductance of the element at 0°C. The conductivity of nichrome is 9.1x10^5 Sm-1

I was looking into purchasing a 1996 1.0L VW Polo today, and everything seems to be running fine, apart from the steering. The car does not have power steering. When I first turn the wheel the start of the turning is light, however after the first bit it suddenly becomes heavy.

My question is whether this is normal or not, and whether I should still look into buying the car, plus any other information you can give me.

I'd heard of Aerogel previously and how an amazing and interesting a material it is, which would make it perfect. However ideally I could do with having a sample to show and prove what it can do during my presentation. Therefore I was wondering if there is anywhere i can buy from in the UK, or that ships to the UK.
