  • Would you believe it if...?

(I apologize if this appears as a double post, I'm still trying to figure out how to change from UK to All English when posting a question.)

Anyway, Would you believe it if...

Muhammed said... (009.029 Shakir): "Fight those who do not believe in Allah,... until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection."

    Would you believe it if...

Jesus said... "Men think, perhaps, that it is peace which I have come to cast upon the world. They do not know that it is dissension which I have come to cast upon the earth: fire, sword, and war."

  • Can you please define New World Order and...?

why Islam/Muslims aren't on the list of conspirators vying for world dominance?

I have heard all about the Templars, the Masons, the Priory of Sion, the Illuminati, the Bilderberger Group, and the Carlyle Group (long before Dan Brown's novels). I have recently heard all the theories about how Bush and Blair (members of the Skull and Bones Society - Blair also member of Bilderberger's) are working together playing good-cop, bad-cop and pushing for a New World Order.

Has anyone thought that maybe they just may be fighting another faction also vying for world dominance?

Do you think that both sides are fighting each other because they both have their reasons, right or wrong, to control the world? What is your thought about this possibly being the true WW III battle - Conspiracy Theory Groups vs. Islam?

  • God and Satan the same entity?

There are numerous texts that depict various religious beliefs and tenants. I do not think any of them should be shunned on the mere word of man (human). It has been proven that the old testament of the bible is a rewriting of older texts found in Egypt (Egyptian Book of the Dead), where Moses grew up, were Solomon spent some time, and where Jesus spent some time (all considered great in the bible).

However, several versions have been written, re-written, and edited some more. Irenaeus of Lyons was the first to decide that the new testament only required 4 gospels (all of which were originally written anonymously) and chose which 4 to put in, denouncing the others as heresy.

However, the majority of the 'others' say that Jesus speaks of the greatest con of man of all time being that the god that is worshipped by people is actually the evil one. For Jesus has both a mother and father in the aeons that have never been seen by any one.

  • Are we still living in the dark ages but with more sophisticated weapons?

IF Jihad actually means 'holy war', then I assume that all battles perpetrated by certain members of Islam are jihad because their beliefs are a way of life for them. But what does that say about the other faiths that have, throughout history, fought for what they wanted?

Muslims used to expand their kingdom by moving into a territory already occupied by others. If those 'others' did not want the Muslims to move in beside them peacefully, then the Muslims would move in by force. (Islam vs. Israel for over 1000 years) This is the same thing the British monarchy did to Ireland in 1169. Which is why there are Catholic / Protestant conflicts continuing today (over 800 years later) in Northern Ireland.

Catholics that swept across Europe like a plague destroying anyone that was not of their faith. English settlers wiped out nations to make their own place in the New World.

  • What is 'American' cultural identity?

Follow-up to previous question "Do you think some cultures are too hung up on retaining their cultural identity while others aren't?"

With the term American following all sorts of dashes like

    African - American

    Irish - American

    Chinese - American

Mexican - American (or just Mexican or Hispanic)

    etc.

Then there is the term Native American. Which, IMO, is a fallacy because the Indians that lived here before the enactment of "America" were native to what they called Turtle Island. It would stand to reason that the actual 'natives' of America are those that founded America as their own country - the forefathers - the British Masons - whatever you want to call them.

There are questions on every job app, every intial medical inquiry, the census, etc. that asks if you are white, black, hispanic, or non-hispanic.

What is the true CULTURAL IDENTITY of the term American? What does it mean?

  • Results of "Bloody Sunday" Inquiry?

After ending 7 years (1998-2004) worth of court inquiries into the events of 30 January 1972, the court stated the results would be out during the summer of 2005. However, I cannot find any information about the findings anywhere.

Does anyone know what the results were?

If the results have not yet been released, has anyone heard as to why not?

  • Why do people put TOO much emphasis on things that don't matter?

I am of the opinion that people place way too much emphasis on things just to keep a religious debate going. If one is opposed to religion, then why does that person constantly rear issues involving religion?

    Example:

"Why do we have to call our pictures either avatars or icons when both have religious implications?"

    Additional details (1):

    "No, Seeker, I'm not kidding.

An icon is a devotional image for Christians.

In Hinduism, an avatar is a diety descended to earth in bodily form."

    Additional Details (2):

"Seeker, I am suitably impressed with your understanding of the relevant etymology, but I am not concverned with etymology, I am concerned with what the words mean in the English language today.

If you think they have no religious implications then it's you who's being conned and it's you who's conning you."

  • What are the little yellow egg sacks on my vine from? How do I get rid of them without destroying my vine?

I have nice vines growing up a trellis and a few days ago I noticed a few yellow things that look like egg sacks on a couple of the shoots. Today the shoots are covered at the top. The little buggers are moving too.

What insect is this and how do I get rid of all of them without destroying my whole vine?

I also have houseplants outside. Will these things start attacking them too?

  • Surname COAN and its variant spellings. Any relatives left in the UK?

    My genealogical url is http://csrc.homestead.com/

My great-grandfather moved to the US in 1904 with his brothers, sister, and parents. I have been told that most of my family still lives in Northerumberland.

I'm also looking for "factual" information on the surname. I am so tired of the online databases that sell fake coats of arms stating different backgrounds.

Even if we're not related, can anyone that lives in the counties of Northumberland and Suffolk tell me what it's like and maybe a bit of its history? Thank you in advance.

  • Political Role of Queen of England?

I know of the authority the monarchy used to have in England until most of the policy making was sent to Parliament, but what decisions, if any, does the monarchy make today?

Is there any kind of balance between the palace and Downing Street?

Please don't give me jibe answers like her family's wealth or heritage (we all know that can be disputed). I already know that she has the power to bestow knighthood on undeserving souls, but what does she really do in a business or political sense for the country that all who live in England would be considered subjects?

I mean no disrespect and apologize if anyone feels I am being disrespectful, this is really just a serious question.

  • I want to move to the UK from the US...?

I've read over the guidelines for becoming a citizen of the UK and I'm not really sure I completely understand them. I get the part about being a decendent but I miss that one by one generation. My great-grandfather was born in Northumberland and moved to the US in 1904. I am third generation born here. I can't talk my father into obtaining UK citizenship because he refuses to get on a plane.

I have nothing to offer the economy because I'm a single mother of two and an aspiring author, so I can't contribute as far as jobs for others goes.

I want to move to the UK because I'm tired of the lack of humanity in this country (the US). I've also been drawn to the history and culture of the UK and Ireland since I was a child and have no idea why. For some reason it's where my heart lies.

How do you buy a home and live in a country in order to establish residency when you're not already a citizen? I don't get this part and I'm not into becoming an illegal immigrant.

    Any ideas?

  • For GB residents only, please. Do you feel the people in NI are British or Irish?

This is a serious academic question. I have been told that most people in England feel that all the people in NI are Irish and just wish the British govt would give it up. Is this true?
