Residing in New England, I'm the mother of three newly grown children and freelance writer who writes on assignment - and tries to answer the occasional question on Answers. I've found that (in my leisure time) it is more rewarding to take a stab at trying to offer someone a good answer than it is to, say, watch television. I usually look for the particularly challenging questions that seem to need a mature opinion, although sometimes I answer the simpler (and even silly) ones.

  • On the HP desktop with Windows XP there's a network icon/disable button - help.?

On my HP desktop with XP there's an icon that says, "disable" (for network connection). I accidentally pushed it, and now I have no network connection. I can't figure out how to "re-enable" my connection. "Help" doesn't do anything, and I see no way to get my connection back.

Does anyone know what I have to do?

  • Microwaving Frozen Chicken Cordon Bleu?

I have a box of Milford Valley Farms chicken cordon bleu (essentially boneless, stuffed, breaded, breasts).

The box used to give microwave instructions, and it came out ok. Now the box says "not intended for microwave use" and stressed cooking it to a temperature of 165.

The old microwave instructions were two minutes on one side (upside down) and one minute forty five seconds on the other side.

Does anyone know whether the above microwave cooking would cook the cordon bleus well enough?

Does anyone know if the company just thinks the product is better when cooked in an oven?

  • What If Someone Reported Me For Thumbs Down I Didn't Do?

I received an e.mail through Answers. The person said they reported me for the following reason: "giving everybody a thumbs down to make your own look better" on a "body systems question".

The fact is I barely ever do thumbs down on anything, and I certainly didn't do any thumbs down on this particular question.

On the one hand, I don't care who reported me or what that even means; on the other, I'd like to know what a person could do to report a false report (!) because this was just bizarre.

First, this person accused me of something I didn't even do. THEN he/she invented a reason for it!!

  • How To Stop Scanning Software From Deleting Mozilla Bookmarks?

With Mozilla, not long ago most of my bookmarks were wiped out A few above one separator stayed. Maybe that was because the folder was opened, while bookmarks below separator were not. I assume scanning software did it and have now backed up the bookmarks. How can I prevent this from happening again (backed up or not)? Sepators? Double separators? Leave some files open? Other? Thanks in advance.

  • Peculiar, Odd, Habits of Children Six to Nine?

There are often questions on here about bizarre little habits kids around eight years old do (seemingly compulsive about mentally coloring traffic signs, smelling everything, etc.). Please list any odd little habits you know of that a perfectly normal child of six to nine years of age has done as part of a phase. (Day-to-day, stupid-seeming, little habits that the child seems to constantly be doing, things that could look a little bit like OCD to the person who doesn't know children very well).

  • If a "reply to message" attempt doesn't go through because of "Oops. Address Not Confirmed" is there another

I tried replying to a message sent to my e.mail address. I typed the whole reply and hit "send" but got a message from Yahoo that it didn't go through because the e.mail address had not been confirmed. Does anyone know what that kind of thing is all about? Is there another way to reply, or is it better just to not reply and assume the person will figure out you had a problem? I tried searching the Answers site for what looked like the e.mail address, but it came up with nothing. I thought I'd be able to contact the person through their profile (maybe).... Thanks for any answers.

  • Does Anyone Have The Unlock Code for the LG G4015?

Looking for the unlock code and any information I may need to have so I can use the LG G4015 phone (a phone from the former AT&T wireless before it was bought buy Cingular). Cingular has phased out the phone, but I'd like to use it anyway. I see that when I put a Cingular SIM card in it is asks for a code. Does anyone know if unlocking it is as siimple as just entering a code? Thanks.

  • Why do so many sugar-free drinks, mints, other have phenylene?.?

Many sugar-free products contain this, and it is known to be bad for kidneys. It also produces gastrointestinal upset in just about everyone I know (and with ingestion of very small amounts of these products). Its also in some breath strips. I just wonder what this product does and why it must be added to so many things.

  • How Can I Save My Hanging Impatiens Plant?

I bought the plant in May, 2005. It hung outdoors until November (New England), and it has since hung in the window over my kitchen sink. I tried putting it out for a few hours in Spring, but it looked worse the wear for it. I tried feeding it a little recently, but it still looks like its on its way out. It has very, very long but sparse branches, no blossoms, healthy looking leaves toward the center, but yellowish green stems in places. A couple of the long "tentacles" shrivelled from the root, so it had flat stems at the pot but healthy looking ends of about ten inches long. At this point I don't know if I've underwatered or overwatered.
