  • Do I have worms or something else?

A few weeks ago I noticed what appeared to be a long thin worm in my stool, went to the doctor and was given pyrantel for worms after showing my doctor the picture. Two weeks later and similar objects were still appearing. My doctor gave me Vermox (Mebendazole) and all seemed well for the last few days, but now I have what looks like another worm in my stool Imgur as well as a large piece of white mucus Imgur.

I am going back to my doctor tomorrow but am honestly considering finding another one. Any idea of these are in fact worms or if perhaps I have a very large number that are resisting treatment?

On a side note, I've also had symptoms of lactose intolerance for the last four years or so and had a very nasty bought of diarrhea last night. My stool is at times very smelly. Is it possible I have another parasite such as giardia?

Does it have a name? How do I explain to my hairdresser that I want a cut like this? How do I style it to get it this way?

  • What is the easiest way to test for significance (statistics)?

I am doing some basic research into the relationship between two economic variables in 20 countries -- rate of secondary education completion (a percentage) and GDP. I found a weak relationship in r and would like to test its significance. I found a weak relationship and now want to see if this relationship is significant What is the most straight-forward way of doing so? I don't have much knowledge of statistics and all the Googling I've done has just left me dizzy.

  • Do these glasses look too big on me?

    http://i.imgur.com/7WVUz.jpg

I've been trying out different ones but ended up picking these designer Guess frames. I think they might look too big and might change them before my eye place makes them tomorrow afternoon. The problem is, these were some of the smallest frames available. How do these look on me? Are they really too big?

  • Is 1.5 Hours Enough for an International Connection at IAH?

I'm booking a student flight from Shreveport, Louisiana, to Berlin, Germany through Continental and Lufthansa (codeshare). The flight I want departs from connects in Houston (IAH), but I only have 1 hour and 32 minutes between my arrival in Houston from Shreveport to board my international flight to Frankfurt (I have another connection after that to Berlin).

I'm concerned that 1 hour and 32 minutes simply isn't enough time, even though the minimum international connection time at IAH is 1 hour.

    1. My flight arrives at Terminal A, except I'll have to take a bus from a turboprop to the terminal. The Lufthansa flight leaves in Terminal D across the airport.

    2. Isn't Lufthansa more likely to bump me from my flight to Frankfurt since I'm flying codeshare with a student ticket? Especially considering I will probably be one of the last passengers to show up.

Besides this one connection, the flight is very desirable compared to other similarly-priced routes. I've connected domestic at IAH before in only 34 minutes, but that was on a domestic flight and the terminals were right next to each other. Is an hour and a half enough time to get across the airport and make it to my international flight, or should I book a flight on another airline with a longer connection time?

P.S. I've noticed Continental is very bad about connections. Another flight I found at IAH gives you only 46 minutes to get from A to D!

  • Do I have pectus excavatum?

I'm a 20-year-old male with no known medical issues and I exercise regularly. I've always had a rib cage that sticks out, but after looking around online, I think I might have pectus excavatum.

No doctor has ever mentioned anything about my chest to me, but friends occasionally mention it and it's embarrassing. Do you think this is a case of pectus excavatum and if so, how serious? Do I need medical treatment?

  • How bad is my scrape's infection?

Long story short, I was drunk Friday night, tripped over a bike rack and scraped my knee on the sidewalk. I went to bed and washed it the next morning, but now it seems to be infected. I've been putting Neosporin on it and giving it air. It is giving off yellow discharge after I take a shower and an odor similar to copper or some other metal. It's obviously infected, but at what point is it bad enough for me to see a doctor?

It's right on my knee so it hurts when I walk or climb stairs.

  • Ringing noise in my ear?

I was at a club last night with very loud music for about three hours. My ears were ringing immediately afterward (as you would expect), but today I still feel the same ringing noise in my left ear. I can still hear, but I can tell that I am not hearing as well from my left ear as I am my right. I'm guessing this is because someone trying to talk to me was yelling in this ear (something I wasn't expecting and was not very happy about).

I'm just worried because this has never happened to me before and I have tickets to a Lady Gaga concert in two weeks. It hasn't affected my ability to hold conversations, but I do have to try harder to listen to people. Could my ear be damaged permanently? If it is temporary, how long should it take to go away? Is there anything I can do to speed up my recovery and take care of my ringing ear?

  • What color swim brief- blue or red?

I'm 18 and swim laps regularly at my local pool. Right now I have a black Speedo but I think the color is kind of boring and it's worn out. Should I get a navy blue, light blue or red Speedo?

  • Why does my stomach and rib cage bulge out?

I'm 18 and fairly active (run or swim several times a week). Even though I only weigh 130 pounds and am 5'10", I've always had a "bulging" stomach and rib cage that has bothered me. Any idea what could be the cause or how normal this is? Is this something I'll just have to deal with or is there a way I can change my oddly shaped abdomen?

    http://i.imgur.com/uZd8i.jpg

Finally, is it really that bad? I just joined swim team and am very conscientious about it.

  • Why do I become suddenly disoriented and dizzy?

Every once and a while I will be walking or sitting down and suddenly feel very disorientated. I don't know how to describe it, but the disorientation is like getting hit in the head hard with a soccer ball (no pain though). For a few seconds I have trouble hearing what's around me and feel very dizzy. Then it goes away and I feel perfectly fine. This happens a few times a month.

I'm a perfectly healthy 19-year-old as far as I know. I'm not taking any medications and besides appendicitis, have never had any medical issues. The only drug I've taken in the past few months is an antibiotic called Bactrim DS.

Is this normal? What could this be and should I be concerned?

  • Could this be skin cancer?

I am a healthy 19-year-old male who spends an average amount of time in the sun. I have no history of skin cancer in my family, but a week ago a small black spot suddenly appeared on my big toe. Here's a picture (it's just a black spot, nothing gross):

    http://i.imgur.com/dkbzn.jpg

It's definitely not a cut and it hasn't gone away after a week. I'm afraid it could be skin cancer. I am going to a dermatologist in three weeks for something non-related, so I will ask him then if it's still there. But in the meantime, I'm really worried about this. Does this look like an early warning sign of skin cancer?

P.S. I have habit of picking my toe nails, as you can see.

  • What color chair should I buy?

I am in the market for a new home office chair. I have narrowed it down the model, but I'm not sure what color to get. It will go in a beige or white-walled room with an aluminum iMac. My desk some sort of light-colored fake wood.

  • Can I deduct this from my taxes as a job expense?

I'm a resident assistant at a college in the United States and part of my job requires me to live in the dorm where I work. My room comes out to around $9,000 a year and while I live there, I will also likely be doing part of my job there (meeting with residents, doing paperwork, etc.).

Can I deduct all or part of my room as a job-related expense? If only part, how would I determine how much I can deduct?

  • Is my Speedo too small?

I wear jeans size 29-31 and bought a size 30 speedo for lap swimming. I can get it on, but it is very tight-- so much so that it leaves an obvious indention on my leg when I wear it (I am 5'11" and 140 1bs, fit). Basically the little bit of fat I have on my leg juts out right below the swimsuit because it is so tight.

Is this normal, or should I get a size up? I know a Speedo needs to be tight to improve speed, but how small is too small?

  • Help with difficult definite integral.?

I am having problems with this integral. I understand it can be split into two, but from there I know I'm doing something wrong. I keep on getting a negative answer but the solution is positive.

    Integral of:

    (400+2.8x)^0.5 - 22

    from 0 to 30
