  • re mortgaging with bad credit?

My partner owns the house we live in with our two children. We are looking at re mortgaging to pay off a large loan that she took out with an ex. We need to change to a joint mortgage to be able to get a loan increase. However I have built quite a bad credit history over my student years. Are there any banks that will accept me If I have a guarantor (Like my parents?)? Any other ideas?

    Many thanks!

  • Casual worker at a theatre, sick pay?

I have worked as a casual Stage technician for the last six years on and off. The last 12 months I have worked every week an average of 40hrs a week. In the last three months I have regularly worked in excess of 100hrs a week in an attempt to get our new panto up and running. I have been given a pay rise and expected to take on managerial responsibilities. Two weeks ago I was hospitalised with a severe asthma attack. Dr's have put it down to overworking/stress and a reaction to smoke effects used in the show. I got out of hospital this morning and have been advised not to return to work for at least another week. The theatre have said that they will not pay me for my time off and will not take me back untill the new year. Is this allowed? I'm sure it is, it just feels a bit un-fair..... Any suggestions?

  • sound insulation between flats?

We live in a house converted into two flats. Upstairs was bought by a couple two years ago and was totally done up. They have just moved out due to having another child and have rented it to another family. This new family comprises 4 children and two adults (in a 2 bedroom flat!). When it was done-up no sound insulation was put in and we can now hear EVERYTHING that is said upstairs. Simply walking around upstairs creates booming thumps to echo through our flat. Is there anything that can be done about it (other than asking them to whisper!)?

    Any ideas would be grand!

    Thankyou!

  • Holiday pay... When should you get it?

I work as casual crew in a Theatre, and each year am given holiday pay in my final pay packet of the financial year. However this year it has been announced that this pay will go to the board for review, and will not be paid until they have made whatever decisions they have to make. Can they withhold this money? Are there any laws stating when it must be paid by (as obviously this will effect this years tax allowance, rather than last years when it was actually earned)?

I rely on this money, but can't find any where that tells me what my rights are!

    Any help much appreciated!

  • Watching blue ray on ps3?

I bought the new bond film in blue ray and tried watching it on my ps3 via HDMI. THe soundtrack (music, shooting, cars, background talking etc) is perfectly clear, but the actual speech itself is in audiable. I thought it was the disk, so have just rented a new copy, but it does the same thing. My other disks are all fine..... Does anyone have any ideas?!

  • PS3 blueray Audio issues?

I have a PS3 60gb. It is connected to my Tv via an HDMI cable. Game play is totally fine. I have just tried a blue ray disk for the first time and get really good picture quality, and the soundtrack music but no speech. If you listen really carefully you can pick out the odd whispered word....

Any ideas? 10pts for anyone who can make it work! haha!

    Cheers.

  • Unpaid Council Tax...?

Ok, I'll probably get a load of abuse for this, but hey ho.

I have recently lost my job, and as a result have missed the last three months of council tax repayments. They are taking me and my partner to court to gain a liability order.

I went to the offices and explained my situation, and they gave me and expenditure and income form to fill in - which I did. With my new job (started this week) we have £198 left at the end of each month. This does not include spending on food/nappies etc. The council have come back to me and said: because you have alot of payments for loans, we will still take you to court and demand payments of £200 p/m untill March '09. Council Tax is a priority debt. Now, the loans in question payed for my partner to go to uni, to get qualified, to get a better paid job, one that means we can't get any benifits - even without me working. They are also secured on our home, which is in negative equity, and if it is repossessed we will still owe tens of thousands of pounds. Why will they not offer lower repayments (my friends sister-on benfits-only pays £50 p/m)/a more flexible solution?

Is there anything else I can do? Can I argue this in court? Will the liability order go on my credit history?

I'm not unwilling to pay, just unable.

Really need some help with this, Thankyou!

  • Electricity disconnected?

I am about £150 in arreas with my electricity bill, and have just missed this months payment. A new bill arrived last week with my next total, and a payment date of 21/11/08. I have just opened the post and found a letter from my electricity supplier stating that unless I pay £150 by 17/11/08 (today) they will disconnect my electricty supply.

I have a 16 month old, and was wondering if they are actually allowed to do this? Especially for what is a small amount of money! I am going to phone them in a bit, but wondered if anyone could offer any advice on my rights etc.

    Many thanks!

  • Question about IVA'S?

My partner and her ex took out a substancial secured loan about six years ago. It is secured on her property (he was just a bf, so had no financial links to the property) and he still pays half the monthly repayment, whilst we cover the rest. He has just stopped paying his half, and has asked for all the details of the loan so that he can apply for an IVA. Can he get one to cover this particular loan, and if so, what will happen to to it, and our house? any ideas?

    Thankyou!

  • Freehold, who is responsible?

I own the bottom half of a house that has been split into two. The people who live above us have just bought their flat, and also the freehold. The sewage drain in the courtyard of the property has burst, flooding the courtyard and making our flat smell of poo. The chap above says that we are jointly responsible, but I thought that as the freeholder it was he who was responsible (thats why i have to pay a ground rent and a fortune to him to extend my lease). Does anyone know who should be doing what with regards to this? The only info I can find refers to large blocks of flats with landlords etc.

    Thankyou!
