  • Homeless Female Veterans?

am doing some research for a project and would like to hear (even privately) about those female veterans that faced homelessness, or even struggles getting help they needed from govt agencies (county, city, federal, etc). All information will be confidential and no names are needed. So if this affected you, or someone you know, are you willing to help?

  • Movie "For the Boys" Bette Midler?

Ok, I like that kind of musical stuff. I am trying to find out who played "Micheal", Bette Midler's character's Dixie's Husband in the Army. About 1/2 through the movie it was Killed in Action (WWII). The guy looks familiar, but I can't find any reference on him

  • cholestrol meds - are they worth it?

for me, these darn statins are very painful to take, have started cataracts in me, don't help me lose weight, I feel worse taking them -

Stupid doctor actually told me that I'm better off having cataracts in taking the meds than risking a heart attack (non-smoker/non-drinker). What the heck is that kind of thinking?? I get ill on the medication so now I'm on Gemfibrozil 600mg.

    grrr

  • young folks...The Economic Crisis...what are you doing?

I send this question to everyone, but especially our youngsters (30 and under'sh). I am sorry this crisis with the banks and the economy is happening, but you need to take steps NOW to preserve your future! What do you have planned? Are you 'socking' away some $$ in a savings account, or Savings Bonds?

Are you paying down your credit cards? Are you keeping the cost of your cell phone bill minimal (yeah, that's a biggie!)? If you're able, are you looking to purchase a home? It's a buyer's market now, but choose your bank wisely (and ALWAYS go FIXED rate!)

  • Stand by your man in politics...?

Ok, Elliot Spitzer has joined a long list of professional politicians who decided to cheat on their wives - those gals who have stood by them, out of the lime light raising the kids with them being there. His wife, like that of Hillary Clinton, stands there stupidly! I can't believe this!

Women, would you degrade yourself by standing next to this piece of scum of a husband for what he did to you? I would not - I would be at my attorney's office filing papers immediately.

This is why I won't vote for Hillary, because it shows that she approved of what BIll did...just like other political wives. How disgraceful is this to those women who suffer abuse (and cheating on you is abuse too)

  • Can you find your veteran buddies?

Yeah, Ok, since we don't have our own 'space' here - this has to come through "MILITARY" - for any one of you wanting one special place to look for military/veteran buddies & shipmates, have you tried www.togetherweserved.com ?

  • Tilling garden every year bad?

I just read in my local paper that tilling the garden every years is NOT a good idea! I have a small community garden which a neighbor dutifully tills for us, does an amazing job, but the article said that too much tilling upsets the eco-system of the soil.

Any thoughts and advise on this before we till for spring (we live in Cleveland, OH)

  • Spring Break is coming up for me...?

and sun-bathing on a beach in Daytone or Bermuda is out of the question - I'd be mistaken for a beached whale (lol!). Too early and snowy to start my garden.

So any ideas? Rent a hotel room here in Cleveland for a night and 'pretend' at the indoor pool and jacuzzi? Or should drive to PA and visit my mother (eeeuuuu no!)?

I know...mmmm...no that's not good either... ok Help With Ideas??

  • Amtrak to Charleston SC?

I really don't want to fly to see my daughter graduate from Parris Island, and I don't mind driving, but looked into Amtrak. Great fares, especially if I buy tickets now. For those living in/near Charleston, how can I grab a rental car from the train station?

How have you been dealing with the broo-haha that is the VA Disability system? Do any of the Service Organizations (American Legion, DAV, etc) help? How long has it taken you to get your Disability Compensation?

  • Senior Citizen Self-Designed Retirement Home?

If you had the chance to help design a new group home for the over-50 set, with minimal medical, but still a safe place, what would you like to add to the house? Assuming we have a nice kitchen and other basics, for our age group, what would be great?

Garage for you guys to do your car work in? Small dance floor for parties? How about a garden (ok, that's for me!) And a sun roof, definately eco-friendly too.

um, keep it clean - we don't want the kids to see!

  • Valentine Hearts work...?

Many of us stayed focused on rec'g flowers, candies, gifts, proposals, etc because that is what is expected for ValDay. And that's a good thing, to promote love. Has anyone made an effort to make Valentine's for the elderly, disabled veterans, nursing home folks, our troops, or just anyone else that sometimes society forgets?

    Happy Valentines Day to all...

  • Where do bird go?

Right now in Cleveland, it very windy, cold yet sunny and I oddly enough saw birds chirping around. I left some bread out for them.

But in this bitter cold, how do they stay warm? I know they're not cave dwellers? Do they use buildings? Or huddle in trees? I never see them when it's raining...just a curiousity point.

  • Scientist needed!?

I need to do a 'report' for Physical Science (college, not 3rd grade, though I I feel like it sometimes). I need a suggestion (not Madame Curie nor Einstein), someone unique to do the report on.

Appreciate all your ideas! Thanks in advance.... :)
