  • Is Cheddar under control of the Crown?

My cousin (Lord Wiggy, a very distant cousin) over the big water, just told me the we should cease and desist making Cheddar in the USA. He tells me that there is a place that makes (and created) the best Cheddar. I am also told that we are not only stealing the rights but the honor of Cheddar UK. We should a least pay royalties or call the American version something else. He was further insulted by the fact that Cheddar cheese should be aged 3-5 years minimum while we in the colonies just start eating as soon as it leaves the dairy (Well we use to do the same with whiskey, just drank it from the still until about a hundred years latter).

Vexed does not really describe what I feel. If Cheddar is an issue then we would have to give up tea, beer, law, the Grand Jury, language and lord knows what else. At least we still can fox hunt and we still have the Grand Jury. He goes on to tell me that the UK could come over and burn our capital again and give us a good "drumming" (never knew what that meant).

I was over there visiting and he challenged me to a duel with pistols over Cheddar. I pointed that this was very illegal in the UK but we could do this in Montana or perhaps Texas. Now, who will be my second? Any volunteers?

  • Who makes rifles for the old caliber 38-55?

The 38-55 Cal round was popular for target matches for about 20 years (1880 to about 1990). Then other technologies sent this to near extinction. However, the 38-55 cal round is coming back as a singleshot traget round again. How could can this be and who is making single shot rifles for this?

  • Have I been here too long?

I am going into my 4th year in Iraq. They say you have been here too long if

Ø You start to think "it's not so bad here".

Ø You say "this place sort of grows on you".

Ø You say, "it feels cooler today" and find out that the temperature is 110.

Ø The term "trailer trash" is a term of endearment.

Ø You call your pod 'home'.

Ø You get excited at the idea of ICE.

    Armaments

Ø You don't jump when a door slams or someone drops something.

Ø You aren't alarmed when every second person you see has a gun . . . or two . . . or three.

Ø You kick the M-16 on the floor aside without a second thought when you sit down to eat in the Dining Facility.

  • How will Islam be observed in space travel?

In the tenents of Islam, a believer is called to prayer 5 times a day and needs to face the direction of Meccah.

The 5 prayers is determined as to the time of the location.

In space, when leaving this solar system, there is no day as we know it on earth. Beyond the solar system you have will have a challenge finding the direction to Meccah. Last, in weightlessness you will not be able to observe the ritual of prayer (standing, bowing, genuflexting, etc) because that will mix your physical orientation and could make you nausaous.

The requirments to observe the strict tenents of Islam will be a challenge in space travel. How will a believer be able to observe the required rituals?

  • During the American Civil War, why did the North refuse to have Generals who were not white?

During the Civil War, the North got the undeserving reputations for being unbiased. However the Confederates were the only ones with a General who what not white, Gen Watie (Native American). They put in troops (Native Americans) who were not white (Native Americans) before the North fielded colored troops. The South had leaders who were not just white Christians. They did have Judah Benjamin (who was Jewish) as the Secretary of State for the South. The North did not have any officers who were not white. The South did have the issue of slavery that was morally wrong but the North was not without sin. However, the North did get to write the history books. Now why did the North not have a General who was not white? Why did the North not have a leader in the cabinet level who was other than Christian?

  • There was a plot by Old Dominion Power to put power lines through Fauquier Co, Virginia, what is the status?

The power company in Northern Virginia is Old Dominion. They were trying to put in power lines that led fromt the power plants (that use high sulfur content coal) in Ohio to New York City. Their logic was a false assertation that it was needed when other alternatives were available.
