  • Should my 20 month old be saying words more clearly?

My little boy is 20 months old. He had a huge vocabulary! He understands instructions (when he wants to do them) and has started his terrible 2 temper tantrums already. He also knows most of the animal sounds, car and siren sounds. But I am concerned about his vocabulary because he is not fully pronouncing words. His name is Reece he says "cheesh." Tractor is "tattor." Aunt Amy is "Ah mememe." Ambulance is "Dadadace." And there are words he refuses to say, like Grammy, and Aunt Erin. So my theory is that he is having trouble making the "R" sound. Should I look into this more or let is slide a while? Are there any helpful hints to encouraging him to make the "R" sound? Thank You!

  • 18mo son isnt listening... at all! tell me how to discipline him?

My 18 month old is not a bad child, but he does not listen at all to "NO" in fact, he laughs half the time. I've done time out since he has needed discipline, but its hard to do time out in the restaurant or grocery store or a parking lot. He has a great vocabulary for his age, so he can hear just fine, he just refuses to listen...

  • Bad dog! what should i do?

I have a 4yo lab/golden retriever mix. She's gotten extremely territorial over the past 2 years. We had another dog, but she got ill, and we had a baby. Now the dog I have, Daisy, is ignoring the presence of my 18mo little boy and knocking him over. So my husband went to discipline her yesterday for running flat into our son and she BIT my husband. It drew blood! What should we do?? We are afraid she'll hurt our son now... But she is also part of the family and we would be upset to have to put her down... Help

  • Any good ideas to help prevent painful nursing?

hi everyone! I am a new mom to a 6 day old baby boy. He is fantastic! But he is killing my nipples!!! I LOVE breast feeding! I hate giving him a bottle, but I give him one at night to let my nipples rest and help him sleep.

I have heard of the cabbage and olive oil treatments, and have been trying that, to no avail. I am using Lanolin after feedings and sometimes an hour after. But none of these things are helping. He is latching properly (I had a dr watch his latching) but it still hurts, almost as bad as my labor (which was all natural!) The pain is mainly when he starts to feed, it's not AS painful after he has been latched on for few seconds.

Are there any other helpful hints to a pain-free (or less painful) nursing experience?

And will my body ever get used to it?

  • Is my LACK of passion going to last forever?

I am due TOMORROW with my first! In the past 2 months I have not been very passionate or sexual at all! I am 23 years old, I should have NO problems at all, but I can not seem to even be turned on. My husband is probably going crazy, because I SAY I want to, but I have no passion in the matter. They say sex is one of the best ways to get a baby out, but I am not interested.

Is it ME, or have other people experienced this too?

and Will my passion come back?

  • Everyone else seems more excited than I do... Is that normal?

I am due in 2 days with my first baby! I am so excited. But I feel like everyone around me is more anxious for the delivery than I am. Maybe it is because of the fear I have of the pain, which is normal for anyone I would think, noone WANTS to be in the biggest pain of their life, but, like me, want a baby.

Is it normal for everyone to seem more excited than I seem to be?

Of course I am excited, I have always wanted to be a mommy, and I feel as though I am ready for the pain, but I am still a bit scared. I do not want something going wrong with me, or my baby.

  • Is the medication making my dog sick?

I have a 4 year old lab/golden mix that I just took to the vet friday. They put her on allergy meds and an anti-inflammatory medications. She is doing great taking the pills for me, but I woke up to the sound of her licking, thought maybe it was just her licking herself, which we were hoping would be resolved by her new meds. We keep our dogs in their own "room" because I get up often throughout the night and they think its play time (also the other dog is in a crate because she chews everything, all the time, to the point that it was not healthy if we kept her out while we were not watching her). I went to check on the licking. My lab was licking the floor, so I turned on the light and the whole entire room had wet vomit puddles everything! I increased her water intake because of the medications, but no lie, my 12 by 10 office was all wet with vomit, no food but she could have eaten that before I got up. It was even on her bed.

Now the vet is closed now and until monday morning.

So, do you think that it could be the meds or the extra water that has her stomach so upset?

  • Can Effacement and Dilation Change Back?

I am 6 days from my due date now. On the 11th I was 80% effaced but not dilated yet. My doctor seemed sure that I would go earlier than my due date. But I am still hanging out, doing lots of walking, feeling some pressure and a scratching feeling often. I have not had her check my cervix anymore since the 11th because I really did not want to get myself excited over a centimeter. The baby will come when it is ready.

So my question is, can I be LESS effaced now?? I just don't know and am curious and can't find it online anywhere.

  • How To Know My Dog Will Be OK With My Expectant Baby?

I am due with my first baby any day now. I have 2 dogs, one (Daisy) is a golden retriever/lab mix, the other (Belle) is a german shep mix of some kind. Daisy is 3, Belle is 18 months. They are both high energy dogs, Daisy is more so. I have noticed lately that Belle has become a better listener, and Daisy has gotten worse. And even in the past month I have notice a real decline in Daisy's social skills. We try to give them equal attention, but Daisy has recently started growling and barking at random noises, at Belle, and even at my husband once. I can not walk her because of her behavior towards other people, she just pulls me to chase after them. Belle is fine though. I used to be able to walk them together, by myself.

I am sure they KNOW that there is a change happening. I am just REALLY afraid of how Daisy will act. She LOVES kids, they both do, but a baby that is seeking more attention than they are getting, I am not sure how they (mainly Daisy) will handle it.

Is there any advise you could give? Any thoughts?

Please no rude comments. My dogs are well taken care of and loved and will continue to be after the baby gets here. I am just a little afraid of Daisy's changes.

And getting rid of Daisy is out of the question. She is my husband's dog and he got her before we were married or living together. And she really can be a great dog. She is just changing.

  • What is this FEELING?

Hey! I am 39 Weeks pregnant with my first and have been having a scratching feeling, in my vaginal cavity, for weeks now. It feels almost like internal pinching. But the feeling is increasing in intensity and frequency as the days go on.

I want to know if anyone else experienced this. My mom did, but she did not know what it was during her pregnancies. Do you know what it is?

As of the 11th I was 80% effaces but not dilated and have been having early labor contractions since that day. My contractions have not been intense enough to go to the hospital yet because I am able to talk through them.

  • What could this clear-pink fluid be? (TMI)?

I am 38 Weeks 1 Day pregnant today with my first baby! Things have been looking very good for baby and I the whole pregnancy. I had an appointment today, and everything is looking great. Its just a waiting game now. Early labor started (and stopped) last week (darn!).

I got home from my appointment today, relaxed a little while (still having some spontaneous contractions). Then (TMI) went to the bathroom. I cleaned myself up in the back, then wiped my front. I looked at the toilet tissue and saw the yellow urine spot but also saw a separate spot of light pink fluid. I haven't noticed my mucus membrane/ bloody show, but this was not a mucus consistency, it was just a clear-pink fluid. I wiped again with new tissue, nothing at the urethra, but there was that clear-pink fluid on my inner labia. I have not had a pick-up in my contractions since this happened.

I put on a pad and if there is more later I plan on calling the doctor. I just feel crazy because I just left the office an hour ago. (no, she did not do an internal exam, i opted out because I did not feel it was needed, they will be checking me soon enough when I am in active labor)

What do you think the clear-pink fluid could be?

  • What do you think of NuvaRing?

I am looking into different forms of birth control for after my pregnancy. I am 23 and married, so if another baby would arise it would not be unwanted, but we would like to wait for a little while before having any other children.

I was on the patch for a while, it did not fair well with my skin and came off often. I tried the pill but forgot often. I would fear pregnancy if I did not get my period with some sort of birth control that lessens the number of menstrual cycles in a year.

NuvaRing was one that I was considering, but I want to know if it is truly an effective method of birth control.

So, public, what do you think of NuvaRing?

  • how can I relieve breast tenderness?

Tomorrow I will be 38 weeks pregnant (with my first) and my breasts are very very sore! I plan on breast feeding so I do not want to wrap them or anything.

Are there any other methods on relieving this breast tenderness and preserving the colostrum as much as possible for my baby?

My mom says this is a good sign that active labor will start soon(within a week)... Early labor started last wednesday. I was 80% effaced but not dilated at last weeks visit. What do you think?

please, if you are not going to answer seriously do not post anything. I am sure you do not want nasty messages left on your serious questions either. And as hormonal as most pregnant woman, we can be very sensitive.

    Thank you! :)

  • Is there a way to help the baby get into Vertex position from Oblique?

I am almost 38 weeks pregnant now. My whole pregnancy the baby has been in the Vertex position, up until 3 days ago! The baby was locked at my cervix, but now its head is toward my hip, in an Oblique position. I was in early labor 4 days ago, but then the baby moved out of position and the labor stopped, probably because the head is not pushing on my cervix anymore.

Does anyone know natural ways to help the baby get back into the Vertex position??? I am a bit worried... I would like to avoid a c-section at all costs.

  • At 37 Weeks Can The Baby Still Turn Around?

I am 37 Weeks pregnant with my first and since our 20 week ultrasound we know the baby has been head down. But I am pretty sure that it turned to breech position today... and I am worried about it. It that likely? Do you think it will go back down on its own? I was going to try to go naturally, but if the baby is breech they will not allow that. Ugh... pregnancy hormones!

    thanks

  • what do labor pains feel like?

I am 37 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I want to know what labor pains feel like. I have heard some people say it was all in their back, others say it was all in their belly. I am not scared, I just want to know your experiences. Want to know if I am right...

I am contracting now and not 100% sure if it is true labor, but I am pretty sure its the early stages of labor because I have had the Braxton Hicks and these feel different and are a little painful. Like some sharp period pains and pain in my hips/buttocks area and vagina discomfort. I only live 10 minutes from the hospital so I am not going to panic and rush over until I really know its time.

  • What Can I Do About My Dog?

my dog is a 3 year old, lab/gold mix. She literally shakes when cars drive by. She is scared out of her mind. But we have NO idea why. She is never in the front yard to see cars unless she is on the leash, so she has never been hit by a car to fear it, or the sound of it approaching. This did not start until 2 months ago when I got laid off work. My husband is really the only person who ever comes and goes, but she loves him. She loves people. But she growls at cars and people when they approach...

is there something I can or should do? is there a huge problem?

  • what can i do about my sister's abuser?

My sister is 6 years younger than me, making her 17. She has a boyfriend who is almost 18. They have been together off and on for about 6 months and I am pretty sure he has brain washed her. They literally fight daily, even if it is just a small fight, it is still happening. But she says how "happy" he makes her. She has secluded herself from me and our parents, even run away from home on 3 different occasions. And we are a very close loving family. Last night I got her to come to my house and she started to open up to me. What I heard devastated me. She said he always turns the fights away on her, something I have heard him do over the phone. She said he has abused her. Picked her up by the arms and shook her.

My parents already hate him, so telling them might be out of the question. And keeping them away from each other has only made her want to see him more because he gets so mad when she is not allowed to see him. Or when she chooses to come to my house he accuses her of cheating on him. She was going to stay with me for a week. She was gone within 24 hours because she did not want to fight with him.

Some people may say that it is not my business, but she is my sister and I love her and care about her and her future.

What should I do? What can I do about this abusive boyfriend?
