  • Who saw the movie "BETTER LUCK TOMORROW"?

Various characters comment at certian moments in the film that someone "needs a wake up call" or that "I'm so happy I can't stand it." What do these statements mean? How would you characterize the changes they go through during the film? Do stereotypes and ideals of success in fact restrict youth in exploring their identity and place in society?

  • Current Crisis? who agrees with this?

This article by Catherine Lutz basically explains all the negative outcomes of war and militarization. War means the spending of milllions of our tax dollars and can often have a toll on our economy as well. Along with money also comes the loss of our troops, our family and friends. It is also stated that with war the gap between the rich and the poor becomes more visible and old and new forms of racism emerge in society. Lutz then goes on to talk about militarizism and how it is specified for heterosexual males, to turn them into full blooded men. Militarism may also bring about seperation of social sectors or even create conflict amongst corporations interested in expanding international markets for their goods and then we are the ones who have to suffer the consequences.
