  • What to do when someone you're not interested in sends you flowers?

What's the socially acceptable thing to do if a guy you are not interested in sends you flowers (or anything else)? Can you tell the delivery person not to deliver them? Do you just give them back to the person who sent them? Or something else?

Just to be clear without going into too much detail - this guy should be well aware that I'm not interested in him. I have made that very clear, I am very happily engaged already.

  • My dog got roundworms on Sentinel - Is that normal?

My dog has been on Sentinel heart worm preventative for over a year now...since he was about 10 weeks old. I had his yearly fecal test done recently and it came out positive for roundworms. But Sentinel says that it's suppose to "remove and control adult roundworms".

Why would he have roundworms if the preventative is suppose to get rid of them? I give him his Sentinel every month on the 1st - could it be because it's been a few weeks since his last dose?

If Sentinel didn't work for roundworms and he still got them, could that mean it's also not working for heartworms??

  • How to get rid of cigarette smoke smell in the air?

    Hi,

I live in an apartment building and all the apartments share a stairway. My fiance and I do not smoke, but a lot of people in our building do. I don't really have a problem with it - except for the fact that the whole stairwell reeks of cigarette smoke and the smell comes into our kitchen. I don't care about the stair way, but I'd like to be able to sit down in my kitchen without having to smell the smoke.

Is there anything I ca do to keep the smell from coming in to our apartment, or to eliminate it once it's already in? I keep the kitchen windows open when it's warm enough but even that doesn't usually help too much. I don't have a lot of extra money to buy an expensive air filter, or else I would. I need so lower cost options, if there are any.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Types of house plants for a room with no windows?

    Hi!

I loove plants, and since we don't have a yard where I can plant a garden, our sunny kitchen is filled with probably over 20 plants. They are all doing very well.

I'd like to put a plant or two in each of the other rooms in the house. All of the rooms except for one get a good amount of sunlight and have windows. However, one small room doesn't have any windows at all - so it's usually pretty dark. I was wondering if there are any types of plants that would survive in there? I wouldn't mind moving the plant during the days into another room so it could get some sun. Or I was thinking of maybe putting a plant light in there.

But what kind of plant in general are hardy and can tolerate less sun? Like only a couple of hours of sunlight a day?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Tax question about what to do with dependents loan & bond interest?

When claiming a dependent on taxes, can I claim student loan interest as a deduction even though the loans are in the dependents name and not my own?

Also, if the dependent cashed savings bonds and used them to pay off loans, am I required to report my dependents interest income on my taxes?

    Thanks in advance! :)

  • How to prove purchases where work related when claiming them on taxes?

This is based off another question I asked on here...

My boyfriend works for a video game company as an art director and game designer. Over the past year, he has bought, with his own money, a few different books and video games for research purposes related to projects he was working on at work.

He was told by a co-worker that he could write these things off on his taxes as work expenses. He has kept all the relevant receipts.

I asked this question here before, and was told that if he tries to write off things like video games he will probably get audited and will need to prove that the items where purchased for his work. My question is, what would he need to prove it? Will he need some kind of document from his work or something else?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Can people get rabies from touching an animal that was scratched by an animal that might have rabies?

Okay so, I was walking my dog when all of a sudden a cat ran over to us from someones yard and started hissing and scratching at my dog, for no reason at all...we where just calmly walking by.

I had to (as gently as possible) push the cat away from my dog with my foot to get it to stop scratching at his face. I took my dog home right away and noticed that he had a small scratch on his nose that was bleeding slightly. So I washed his scratch in hydrogen peroxide and then put neosporin on it.

So I know my dog can't get rabies because he is up to date with his shot. I know this might be a long shot, but if the crazy cat had rabies, is there any chance I could get it from treating my dogs scratch? Like, if the cats claw had rabies germs and then the cat scratched my dog and the virus got on my dog, then I touched it when I was cleaning him up and accidently touched my eye or mouth or something....or if the rabies cat hissed and spit rabies into the air and I breathed them in?

Can you tell that I'm paranoid? Is that normal cat behavior, to just run out and attack a dog like that? It seemed so strange. Should I call animal control or something?

  • Do I need to do taxes if I made less than $8,000 from savings bonds?

    Hi.

I'm wondering if I need to file taxes this year. I did not work and so did not make over the $8,000 needed to file taxes. However, I cashed in around $2,000 worth of savings bonds and used them towards paying off my student loans. In the mail I received tax documents from my loan companies as well as from the bank where I cashed my bonds. I'm wondering if I have to file taxes this year, even though I didn't make much money. Is it true that if you can prove you used your bonds to pay student loans, that you don't have to pay taxes on them?

Thanks in advance for any answers!

  • Cherry blossom wedding locations?

My fiance and I want to have a spring wedding. Neither of us are religious so we are not considering a church wedding. I really want to have it outdoors and have been looking into having it in a state park or something like that - We'd like a forest like setting and will have a small picnic reception afterwards. Nothing huge, just close family and friends. We don't have a ton of money to spend on it either, and have to pay for everything ourselves.

Anyways, we are considering a cherry blossom themed wedding and would like to know if anyone can recommend a location where there are actual cherry blossom trees. Somewhere on the East Coast - We live in NJ but don't mind traveling as long as it's not too far.

    Thanks!

  • Reviews for indoor (turf) dog bathrooms/litter boxes?

    Hi,

I have an 8 month old puppy that is trained to go to the bathroom outside on the grass. We live in a high raise apartment with no yard, unfortuantly. I don't like taking him out alone at night because we live in a pretty dangerous area. I want to get him one of those indoor dog potties, the ones that use turf. However, I'm not sure what kind to get. Can anyone recommend a brand for a 13lb dog? They are kind of expensive so I want to make sure I'm not buying a really crappy (no pun intended!) one. I'll only have him use it when he has to go at night, so I'll still be taking him outside most of the time, but still.

    Thanks!

  • From the game Okami, how do you pronounce Amaterasu's nickname - Ammy?

I'm just wondering - I know how to pronounce Amaterasu because I took a class and learned about all the Shinto gods. But when I played the game Okami, they nicknamed Amaterasu "Ammy", and I'm not sure how that's suppose to be said. Is it suppose to be like the name Amy, or said like Ah-me or some complete other way?

    Thanks!

  • benadryl for my 12lb dog?

My 7 month old dog weights 12lbs and I think he got bitten by some kind of bug. His muzzle is slightly swollen and appears to be itchie because he keeps rubbing it with his paws. I will take him to the vet when they open in a couple of hours, but untill then I was going to run out and get him some benadryl to try to make him more comfortable and help with the itching.

I know benadryl is safe for dogs but my questions are what kind should I get? A childrens luquid or a pill or what? Also, how much should I give to a 12lb dog. I'm going out to the store soon to get it for him so any fast answers are really appreciated.

  • Has anyone gotten their dog neutered at Bayonne Animal Hospital (1170 Kennedy Blvd. NJ)?

My puppy is almost 6 months old and it's about time I called and schduled his neuter.

I'm wondering if anyone on here has used Bayonne Animal Hospital in Bayonne NJ to neuter their dog and if they would recommend it there. My dog is a toy breed and I'm really nervous about him going under anethesia, as my last pet I had go in for surgery passed away on the operating table (at a NYC vet, not the Bayonne Vet).

Also this vet is associated with two other vets, so if you've been to either the Animal Infirmary of Hoboken or Downtown Veterinary Associates in Jersey City and can post reviews that would be great - I believe that the same vets serve all 3 locations.

Also I know I can get this information by calling the vet, but if you can remember how much it costed that would be helpful.

    Thanks :)

  • Where to get a short tailed opossum(STO) in Northern NJ?

Does anyone know of any exotics breeders in Northern NJ or surrounding areas that have STO? I know I have to get an individual hobby permit from fish and wildlife to keep one, which isn't a problem at all. I had one and would love another, however I moved to NJ from another state and don't really want to deal with having to get one shipped, but I don't know of any local breeders?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Do sugar gliders make good apartment pets?

    Hello :)

My boyfriend and I live in a very pet friendly apartment, and already have a couple of pets. However, I have been researching and wanting a pair of suger gliders for a few years now.

We have an extra room in our apartment where we'd have plenty of space to set up a gaint cage for them.

My boyfriend is worried that they will keep us or the people in the downstairs apartment up at night even with the doors closed.

Does anyone have them for pets and live in an apartment? Are they okay apartment pets, or should I wait a few more years untill we get a house to get them?

Oh and please, I don't need anyone to write me a novel on how to take care of them - I already know :) I've done tons of research and also took care of a pair at an animal shelter before.

Basically I just want experience on how they do living in this kind of setting, and if people think they would be to loud to keep in an apartment.

    Thanks!

  • Good places to buy live foods (insects) online?

I have a leopard gecko and it's about time to get him some more food. I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good online stores where I can get a variety of diffrent bugs for him? I don't like our local pet store, and so far the sites I was looking at I would have to have each diffrent type of insect shipped to me seperatly, from a seperate location, which makes shipping expensive. I just want to be able to order a couple diffrent types of insects all at once and have them all be shipped together, if that's possable. Thanks in advance :)

  • Does anyone know where/if I can get the forms to licence my dog online for Bayonne, NJ?

I need to licence my dog in Bayonne, NJ - and use to do it by mail before I moved here. However, I can't seem to find the forms online to download and send in for this city. I can find them for Jersey City, but not for Bayonne. Does anyone know if I can licence him by mail here, and if so, where do I get the forms?
