  • runescape... looks different?

I had (have) a runescape account that I hadn't logged in to for over a year. A couple days ago I was bored and logged back in, and it seemed to have been updated since the last time I'd been there - larger viewing area, the chat window and inventory windows were transparent, etc.

Today, though, it suddenly looks how it did a year ago - solid chat window, old style inventory, etc.

Anyone know why? Or how I could get the 'new' view again?

  • What make of car was this? Bulging triangle, M's?

A while ago I was driving around my town and in front of me was a weird looking car with a strange symbol on it, being driven by an elderly couple. I've never seen anything like it.

The symbol, to the best of my memory, was like a triangle except the sides were bulging out, if that makes sense, and there were two (or was it one?) "M" inside of it. It's been a while since I saw it so my memory might not be exact.

It was a pale blue car, and like I said, the body of it was unlike anything I'd seen, kind of curvy, and there were no other markings on it to say what it was.

I'm super curious about it, since it seems pretty unlikely there could be a make of car you've never heard of like this - and owned by old people, to boot. Maybe it was old, idk, but it looked in very good like-new condition.

    Anyone know?

  • Shelby Mustang vs regular Mustang?

I'm no car person, but I'm confused about this - is a Shelby Mustang something different than a regular Ford Mustang, or is it just another term for the same car?

  • Genetic test to determine what breed a horse is?

So last year, my horse's barn went into chaos when the manager quit so I had to quickly find a new place to move him to. I found a cheap place closer to home that was newly leased by a brand new barn manager (which is why we got such a cheap rate). It didn't take long for this lady to establish herself as clueless, crazy, and weird, so we only wound up staying there for about 6 months. Anyway, during our stay there, this lady bought a pony that I used to know. The pony was originally purchased by a friend of mine for use as a camp lesson horse. My friend bought the pony directly from his breeders, who said he was a QH/Morgan cross - they even had his mom on site (maybe his dad, too, I don't remember). The pony didn't work out as a beginner horse so he was sold to a local hunter/jumper trainer, who put more training on him and tried to sell him as a welsh pony (this trainer is shady with questionable business practices, but I digress). Pony wasn't A-Circuit quality so she couldn't find a buyer at her high price, and sold him for cheaper to the lady where me and my horse now were. I was like "hey! I know that pony!" and told this new barn owner what I knew about him, including his breed makeup. Crazy lady didn't believe me apparently - she kept guessing that he was a rocky mountain horse due to his color (chocolate dapple color with flaxen mane/tail, even though he's not gaited at all) and had his blood tested. I didn't even know there was such a test. She claims the results came back 98% rocky mountain horse and that now she could register him as such.

Just another reason I thought this lady was clueless, but anyway - I have a hard time believing such a test could be accurate in any way. Am I right? Could you actually register a horse based on such a bogus test?

We've been at a different barn for a while now, but I've been meaning to ask about this :P

    Thanks!

  • If you skip your period on the pill intentionally, could you have some spotting?

I've been on the pill for a few years, but have never attempted to use them to skip a period before. I just did for the first time, as my period was to have fallen during the week I was on vacation at the beach. I am two weeks into the second pack of pills (so, have taken 5 weeks straight), and yesterday and today I have had a little discharge with a slightly reddish tinge. If you skip your period on the pill like this, can it cause this, or should I be concerned? I really wasn't sure what the side effects would be of doing this, since I've never tried it before.

    Thanks for the help!

  • Possible ear polyp in cat?

We just got back from my cat's annual checkups. One of my cats, Todd, had a lot of ear wax so she cleaned out his ear but found a possible polyp - a brown spot wouldn't come out and was shiny (supposedly earwax shouldn't be shiny). She sent me home with panolog ointment to squirt in his ear and instructions to clean them out every day for a week or two then go back in to see if the brown spot goes away (earwax) or if it's still there (polyp?).

Of course, I started reading up on this as soon as we got home, and the only symptom he maybe was showing was ear scratching, but he doesn't do that more than any of my other cats. I also found several accounts where people said polyp surgery is $2500 (gasp!) and that often they grow back again in a year anyway. Does anyone know if the cost of this surgery is REALLY that insane? How big a deal are they? I've found varying accounts on that point.

If you have first hand experience with ear polyps, please respond. Thanks!

  • Warhammer? Acadian Gate?

My brother says his best friend just got his first tattoo (ugh) of something out of Warhammer 40,000, I think, and he said it was of an "acadian gate" (or something like that, hard to hear, he was getting poor cellphone reception) involving two pillars and some triangles?

I'm curious as to what this looks like and I can't seem to find that there is even anything called acadian involving warhammer. Does anyone know what this is and have a link to it?

  • Senior horse gets stuck when he lies down?

I have a retired senior horse who is still enjoying life very much, but back in the early spring he (we guess) had a fall in his pasture that injured his neck and made it hard for him to move a front leg. He recovered fully from it (no lameness whatsoever) and my vet recommended to keep him on a low dose of bute (1 gram a day) which I've been doing. Well, after recovery, we discovered that when he'd go to roll, he'd get stuck when he tried to get back up. If we pushed on him, he could get back up (he can't get himself in an upright sitting position on his own). After a month or two of that, he appeared to get over it and was getting back up on his own. Well, now it seems to have started again. In fact, he got stuck right before my vet came out last monday to give his vaccinnations and she helped me get him back up. She didn't really say anything about it. I just moved him to a new place because the old place wasn't turning him out much - he'd go for days without leaving his stall, and he won't lie down in his stall. He went to the new place yesterday and today they go to turn him out and he rolls and gets stuck.

I hate to inconvenience the barn owners if he needs help getting up all the time, but at the same time, he's fine otherwise and doesn't seem ready to go yet. At this new place, he'll get daily turnout. I'm concerned that he might be rolling more often now that he's outside and worry that this is too much to ask of the new barn owners. This new barn is owned by my old college coach who is a good friend and knows my horse very well, but I still will feel really bad if this becomes an ongoing issue. What would you do in this situation?

  • Getting birds to live in birdhouses?

If I want to install a birdhouse with the hope of a bird living in it, is it too late for this year? (ie, have they already found locations and built their nests?) If it's too late, when should I have it up by for next year? A bird keeps taking strands from my hanging flower basket, so I guess I figure I've already missed out for this year...

Also, if I put out dryer lint or horse hair (my horse is shedding) in my yard for them, would they use stuff like that for a nest?

I'm in southern Ohio, so it would be birds like chickadees, sparrows, etc.

  • Why Karen O'Connor isn't in this year's rolex?

Anyone know why she won't be competing? I confess I really don't read up on eventing news as it's not my sport, but I go to Rolex every year (for the past 6 years or so) and am going again this year. I was reading the timetables and noticed she's not there - sad! Was hoping someone knew why.

And, before anyone goes "because Teddy died" I really don't think that's the reason. She has other horses good enough - usually has 2 mounts in Rolex, and indeed she rode someone else in addition to Teddy last year too, and rode someone else in the Olympics, right? So where are they? Hope she and her horses are in good health!

  • How many hay pellets equal a flake?

Does anyone know a rough estimate/range for how many hay pellets you would need to feed to equal a flake? I KNOW it will vary, I'm going for a ballpark here. Also, note that I am talking about pellets, not cubes.

I sometimes feed an alfalfa pellet, sometimes a timothy/orchard grass pellet to my ancient pony who has no teeth.

  • Horse first aid books?

Can anyone recommend a good book about first aid for horse owners? I once heard of a book that listed very easy to understand step-by-step instructions to treat a variety of things, plus how to identify various problems, but unfortunately I don't remember what it was. This will be for a gift to someone new to horse ownership.

Looking for a book that basically tells a horse owner how they can treat minor things themselves, and then when a vet is necessary, things like how to check a pulse, take a temperature, etc etc. Easy to understand text is a must, no confusing stuff.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

  • At what age will a goldfish stop changing color?

Last summer at a church festival, we won a goldfish (not saying I approve of those fish being in bags all day, but figured I'd at least ensure that one of them survives). It was a solid grey feeder type golfish about an inch long. I put him in one of my planted tanks with a school of serpae tetras for lack of anywhere else to put him, and he's grown like a weed... good 2 1/2 inches, maybe 3 now. Two months ago, his belly started to go white and the grey on his back darkened and he took on a lovely panda sort of coloration. In the past week, the black on his back is quickly receding and he's getting an orange hue to his white. I had no idea they could change color so quickly! He literally will look different from morning to evening of the same day. At the rate he's growing, he's going to move on up to the 55 gallon soon, ha!

Anyway, does anyone know if his color will ever stop changing, and if so, at what age will that happen? I really have never kept a goldfish before, was never interested. So, I really don't know! But it's kind of fun to watch him change :)

    Thanks!

  • Low key battery light on my Nissan Altima?

I bought an '08 Nissan Altima in August of '07, it was one of the first of the newer model (it's not even 2 years old) and the 'low key battery' warning light has been coming on. It's doing it for both the key I always use, and the spare kept in a drawer this whole time.

I was searching around the internet and found a forum post where someone said their key fob was recalled because of something to do with the key getting messed up if kept next to a cell phone? Has anyone heard of this? I didn't get anything about a key recall, but 1 1/2 years seems way too short for a battery to last, especially since all of my previous cars and family's cars have had key fob battiers last 10 years! It doesn't have anything to do with it being a keyless car, does it?

Just looking for info. Does anyone think my dealer would do something about it if I called them?

  • bl solution pellet or liquid?

What are the differences between the liquid and the pellet B-L Solution? Is one stronger than the other? Does one last longer or something?

I'm going to try this out for a month for my 40+ y/o pony who I'm looking to get off of bute, trying to decide which to buy.

  • horse classified websites that have boarding listings?

I was talking to someone today about their boarding barn and they said they had made a listing on some popular online horse classified site, but I can't remember which. I went to dreamhorse.com and it doesn't appear that they have a stable section, only horses for sale. Can anyone think of what website it might have been? I thought maybe she said horsefinder, but that appears to be a defunct website or something. Whatever she told me, I had heard of it, but I had nothing to write on and forgot it. Any ideas?

  • Aquarium lighting that hovers over tank vs rests on hood?

I'm working on setting up a 55 gallon planted tank. I notice some lighting "hovers" over the tank on 4 legs that attach to the rim, and some lighting is just like a standard tank light that rests on the glass hood. With the same wattage, is there any benefit to the hoods that hover? Would you still put a glass cover on the tank so fish don't jump out?

I have no intention of letting my plants grow up and out of the tank, and the hovering kind seem to tend to run more expensive. What's the point of them? Is there much of a difference between the two?
