  • New Macbook pro specs!!?

I'm getting a macbook pro now tha tthe new updated ones have come out but i'm undecided between a few things.

should i get the lower processor speed but get 3 GB of ram? or get the faster processor with 2 GB of ram?

also, I really would like the 200 GB harddrive but is the difference in rpm significant? noticeable? are the extra 40 GB worth the downgrade in speed???

    Thanks!!

  • Does anyone out there actually sight read Guitar music?

I've been playing classical guitar for some time now, but only recently started using actual music instead of tablature. I also play the violin. Being a monophonic instrument, you usually can sight read music pretty fast as you take it one note at a time. On the guitar on the other hand you have to find the precise note on the fretboard which the music is refering to and you have to play more than one note at a time a lot of the time... you also have to set up your fingering (RH & LH) to prepare for coming sections etc. So my question is.... does any really sight read Guitar music and not "study" it?? I mean is it reasonable to want to look at a score and play it through the first time you see it? (because this fairly easy with the violin)

Not much of a gamer, so don't mind the one drawback of having a mac: the game selection. But now that there is bootcamp for mac, I can install windows on it and play windows games right?? I really want to play age of empires III, I used to be addicted when I was a kid and wanna test it out. Will games run smoothly with bootcamp?

  • Can anyone briefly explain the behaviour of photons in quantum physics using a polarised light experiment?

I understand quantum physics when explained by the two slit experiment using electrons (demonstrating the wave particle duality, measurement affecting the system etc). I am reading about a similar experiment which is supposed to explain the same thing but I don't understand it. 45 degree polarised Light is incidented on an H/V polariser which splits it into vertical and horizontally polarised light, the separate beams hit two separate + and - 45 polarisers splitting each separate beam into two more beams and then onto detectors. Isn't the 45 degree polarised light already polarised? how does the H/V polariser split it into two more beams? even then, how do the beams out of the H/V polarised get further polarised by the + and - 45 polariser? and The author of my textbook is CRAP!

  • Is there space and mass inside a black hole?

Just a random question. A black hole sucks stuff up which can't escape. Since it is a singularity, I think there is a no space or time. Does that mean no mass? what happens to the mass? does it become energy? does energy necesarily take up space? How big is the center of a black hole? is there mass inside, right up until the event horizon? or is the EH just the point where it's gravitational influence becomes inescapable.... and past the EH there is just energy.... or is there mass?

  • What's the difference between a 128 MB and a 256 MB graphics card on a Macbook Pro? which one should I get?

I'm going to get a macbook pro, but there are three options, I'm going to get the cheaper option which basically has two main differences (that you can't upgrade when ordering): The processor speed and the Graphics card. I can upgrade the RAM and the disk space and I don't mind the 0.16 GHz difference (is that really a lot?) . So the only thing is the graphics card. I don't know much about graphics cards, is 128 MB enough? to play games once in a while, watch movies well, I don't know what else.. but is 128 enough? is that a good card? or is it really worth the extra few hundred dollars to get the 256 MB? thanks for the help!!
