Hi. My name is Amy and I'm kind of a category wanderer here on Y!A although at the moment I seem to be more and more in the Baby Names section. Please vote on my baby name list here: http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9748351

  • Songs to do with diamonds?

I am making a playlist of songs to do with diamonds for a diamond themed party and so far it is very short!

I've got a few obvious ones like Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and Diamonds Are Forever. But I need more than just those!

The party is for people of all ages so I don't really want to have any songs on it that are too heavy rock or too extreme really.

    Any ideas?

  • What should I marinade chicken in to make it more tasty?

I am going to be making a starter for a dinner part on Friday night. I'm making a few smaller pieces like a buffet style starter and one of the things I want to do is some chicken on sticks for people to pick at. What are some good marinade recipes that I can marinade the chicken in before I cook it?

I don't want to rely on packet mixes as I want to do it all from scratch with my own two hands! Does anyone have any recipes that they can reccommend?

  • What are some good, easy vegetarian starter recipes?

Me and my friends are having a dinner party with each of us responsible for one course. I'm in charge of starters and would like some ideas of what to make.

The starters need to be vegetarian as some of the people will be vegetarian and I would rather just make one thing for everyone. The dishes also can't have fish or mushrooms on them.

I'll be making the starter beforehand and taking it round to my friends so something cold or that's easy to reheat and prepare would be good.

I was thinking of a cheese and onion tart of some description but I am open to all suggestions.

    Thanks!

  • Can I use my phone in America if I have a T-Mobile contract?

I have a phone with a contract on T-Mobile where I get unlimited texts, 100 minutes of phone calls and internet. I am going away to America for a couple of weeks and what I'm wondering is, if I take my phone with me and send a text, will I get charged for it in addition to what I would pay monthly?

Is what I might use in America counted into my allowance, or will I have to pay extra if I send a text from over there?

  • How do I transfer music from my itunes to my iphone?

I've just downloaded a couple of songs and added them to my itunes library. I want to put them onto my iphone. I used to be able to just drag and drop them onto it, but I've got a new computer and for some reason it doesnt seem to want to do that any more! When I click on the 'amy's iPhone' bit and go to music there, the only way it will let me sync the new songs is for them to replace all the songs I already have on there. But obviously I don't want to lose the other 1600 songs for the sake of two new ones!

Please can someone help. I was using a PC but now I'm on a Mac it that helps at all

  • What would your name be if you were born in 2009?

Just out of interest to see how the popular names have changed.

Go here: http://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/ and look up how popular your name was in the year you were born. Then find out what name was in that position in 2009.

For example, my name is Amy. In 1989 that was 35th in the popularity ranking. In 2009, position 35 was the name Kayla.

What would your 2009 name be? Do you prefer that name, or your own name?

Personally, I will take Amy over Kayla!

  • How long does it take to deliver an ebook to a kindle?

I know this question isn't strictly to do with books but maybe someone here will know the answer to this.

I got a Kindle for christmas and I've just registered it today. I've downloaded a couple of books and clicked the 'deliver to Amy's kindle' button. It says that they are pending in the delivery status box. How long will it take for them to actually get onto my kindle?

I'm doing it from Amazon on the computer with my Kindle plugged in with the USB if that makes a difference.

    Thanks

  • Help. I want to buy an iPhone.?

I've been looking at buying an iPhone and on the iPhone 4, I've been seeing that there is either a 16GB or a 32GB. I'm a bit of a technophobe when it comes to gig, meg and things like that.

Which would anyone recommend I go for and what's the differences? The prices of them aren't too much different so that's not really an issue.

    Thanks :)

  • What's the name of the song?

There is an advert on at the moment with a song that I really like, but I don't know the name of it and it's driving me nuts!

The advert is, I think for a sofa or furniture company and the song is sung by a woman. The lyrics that you can hear go something like:

'Love me, oh oh oh oh love me. Oh, oh oh, just hold me ..... L O V E love'.

I'm sorry that's pretty vague but can someone help me with the name of the song?

    Thanks

  • Are you named after anyone, and is anyone named after you?

Did your parents name you after anyone in particular, either family, friends or someone else?

    And

Has anyone named their baby after you or used your name for their baby? If so who and why.

    Thanks

  • Using old fashioned names?

In recent years names like Ruby and Elizabeth or Charles and Harry have come back onto the top names list.

It's got me thinking what old names you would think about using.

For example, people use Elizabeth but they might not consider Mavis or Gladys.

Would you consider using older names like that or would you just associate them with old people?!

  • Would you name a baby after a celebrity?

Would you ever name your baby after a celebrity or character? Not because you like the name and they happen to be the same, but because you liked the person and wanted to name your baby after them?

Just wondering because my Dad was apparently named because my grandparents really liked someone on the TV with his name. And I'm named Amy because my Mum and Dad liked a TV character with this name.

If you were going to name your baby after a celebrity, who would it be?

  • What's the name of this book I read as a child?

I remember reading this book when I was a child and I would like to read it again but I can't remember what it was called.

It was about a girl who had some kind of accident and woke up in hospital in an alternate life. Her parents were different, I don't know if in one life she was adopted or something, and when they came to visit her they treated her differently.

There was one bit where she was reading a magazine about King Charles and Queen Diana because the Queen had abdicated for them.

I know that's vague but it's all I can remember.

Does anyone know what it was called?

  • Help with greasy hair?

Lately my hair has been getting greasy quicker between washes. I wash it every other day and straighten it every morning. I really don't want to have to wash it every day as it is quite thick and takes a long time to dry.

    Can anyone recommend anything?
