I have a 2 year old who, whenever he gets mad at anything, hits me. For example: If his dad tells him not to do something, he will come over and hit me. I had at first hit him back (not hard), but it just turned into a hit-me-hit-you-back situation. Next I tried holding his arms and saying "NO!" That didn't work. Is there anything else I could try, like getting him a little punching bag?

My 22 month old son doesn't (or won't) speak. I try to get him to say "milk", "dog", "cat"; any simple word. He doesn't even say "mama" or "dada". He knows his body parts and point to them when I say them. When he wants something, he whines and points to the object.

He goes to daycare and the teachers ask me if he speaks at home (he doesn't speak at daycare either, nor does he cry). He is an only child.

Is he just going to be the strong, silent type? Help!
