  • Best and Worst Car Rental Experiences?

I recently began a job where I'll be managing the counter representatives at a car rental agency. While I have management experience, I don't have it in this particular field. To be successful, and to better train my staff in customer service, please share your best and worst car rental experiences. Thanks!

  • How do you stop people from sending "cutsie" emails? You know the ones...?

...they're either prayer chains, bad jokes, lewd jokes, graphic filled and always have the email addresses of everyone on the planet. Not only do I not want them, but I've actually had someone in the email chain, that I didn't know, try and strike up a connection. It made me very uneasy...

Has anyone found a polite yet firm way of saying to the sender, "Please! No more!"?

  • Really hating the GAP ad. Is there any way to turn it off other than the Pause button?

I usually come to "Answers" daily, but have been off the last four days because of this stupid ad.

It's not working. In fact, it's backfiring. No love for GAP or Yahoo whatsoever.

  • How do I restore my Menu Bar in Word?

When I right click, all I get are the options for "Restore, Move, Size, Minimize, Maximize," etc. How do I go about restoring the Menu Bar?

I have no idea how I removed it, and can't figure out how to get it back; this is causing me to slowly lose my mind! Thanks!

  • Non-tourist Jamaica?

Planning a trip for the husband and I to go to Jamaica. We'd like to stay in a part of the country that is tourist free, maybe rent a cottage or apartment for the week. I'd like to be able to drive into the larger cities for shopping, but retreat someplace low-key where we can watch the sunset, shop and eat at local, small businesses and generally chill. We'd like to avoid the mega resorts, and have easy access to the whole country as we plan on renting a car. Any ideas?

  • Married men who got girlfriends?

I've noticed that men who don't feel that they're getting enough sex from their wives immediately seek a girlfriend as a solution to their problem. What I'd like to know is:

    1. How many men actually tried talking to their wives before going the girlfriend route?

    2. If you went the girlfriend route, did it solve your problem or create more?

    3. If your wife found out, what as the outcome and how was your relationship affected?

I'm not trying to pass judgment, I'd just like to hear from men who've had the experience; I'd like to know how the girlfriend solution compared to reality.

  • Have to select a fund for a Simple IRA Fund? Head about to explode!?

My husband has an opportunity to invest in a Simple IRA Fund with his employer, who will match my husband's contributions (maximum 3%). We can choose between growth funds, growth and income funds, equity income funds, balanced fund, bond funds and money market funds. We're looking to retire in 10 to 15 years...I'm reading the prospectus and my head is about to explode. What are the most important considerations in selecting a fund? What's considered acceptable / good growth? What should we avoid?

  • How do I recover from a missed interview?

I missed a job interview for this morning that I scheduled while I was out of town. It occurred to me about an hour after the appointment time. The prospective employer had my home and cell phone numbers, but only called my cell. I've already called and left a message, apologing profusely?

That was about 40 minutes ago; what more can I do?

If they are interested enough to reschedule me, how do I get past this faux pas and have a successful meeting?

I admit to being preoccupied (death in the family over the holidays, stressing out behind having to fly through Denver to make it home for interview), but I'm usually more on top of my game than this.

Serious replies only...I've already beat myself up behind this.

  • Should I Be Annoyed?

Husband and I relocated back to his home state, and live in the same city as his two grown daughters. Our birthdays are four days apart, and I doubt that mine will be acknowledged on any level. Even though I've been the one to make sure everyone has gotten gifts on all occasions, I'm pretty much blown off every year. One daughter said she wanted to take my husband to dinner, but did not ask if I had any plans for him nor included me in the invitation. We tolerate each other for his sake, but I have a far better relationship with her sister. Even with our mutual tolerance, I thought she should have at least asked if I had any plans for my husband. Am I wrong to be annoyed? I'm a little irked with my husband that he didn't at least check with me too, but he's a typical guy with iffy judgment when it comes to social situations so I've cut him a little slack...

  • What can I do about condensation in my windows?

I recently moved to North Dakota from So. CA (don't ask...you do a lot of things for love!). The temperatures here are getting into the minuses at night; in the morning I find that I have either ice or frost INSIDE my windows. The casings are made of oak, so there's another problem. What do people do about this? I have a humidifier but it doesn't seem to do anything. Aside from changing windows in the summer, what are my options?

  • The first coat looks odd?

I'm using an acrylic latex paint for my living room and hallway. Of course it's coming out darker than I expected, but I still love the color. The problem is that the first coat looks very uneven to me. I did ask if I needed to prime the walls first and was told it wasn't necessary. All the walls in the house are white so there wasn't any color to paint over.

Will the second coat even things out?

  • For the fellas...Why did / do you cheat? Not judging, just want honest answers...?

I'm not about bashing, I'd just like to know why. Booty call? Because it was there? Problems at home? What? Also, was it worth it? I define cheating as any innappropriate physical and / or emotional relationship with someone other than your spouse / significant other. I'm looking for candid comments from adults, so no silly replies from teenagers or adults unable to act their age...

  • Why is it so important to seek revenge or get back at someone who dumped you?

If someone broke up with you, sure...you're not happy about it, but what's the point in spending more time and energy on them? Doesn't just prove that you're giving them too much power over you? Why does making them, and innocents caught in the crossfire, miserable do for you?

  • Should there be a FAQ page for the following questions?

    1. How do I get him / her to like me?

    2. How do I make him / her jealous?

    3. How do I get him / her back?

    4. I think I'm pregnant?

    5. I like this guy / girl but he / she has a boyfriend / girlfriend?

    6. Does he / she like me?

    7. Should I cheat?

Can someone come up with a FAQ page to answer all these questions so people don't have to wait for the answers? Ok. I'm being a little sarcastic, but do you know what I mean?

  • Why are there so many "How do I get him / her to love me" ?'s?

I'd really like to hear from those who ask it. I guess I'm of the opinion that:

    1. You can't make someone love / like you

    2. Any relationship based upon manipulation is not a true relationship. Isn't it hard maintaining the manipulation? They don't love you, they love the lie you've created to "get" them.

    Inquiring minds want to know!

  • Serious Advice Needed, Mgrs or HR only please...What to do?

I recently relocated to a small city from a metropolitan city where I managed a family owned company for several years. During that time, I did work for two other companies; I learned a lot from both in a very short period of time, and left both positions respectfully.

So now I find myself in this town with a wealth of skills, wondering how to get a job. In addition to my experience as a manager, I also studied Public Admin. and Communications in college. I've applied for two jobs that were interesting to me, and was rejected for both. I called one employer who told me that my old salary was a consideration. I didn't expect to make my old salary here; they just looked at what I was making and took me out of the running. Also, it was an entry level position (which I didn't know until I called), so I was overqualified.

I'm at a point in my life where I want to love the job; the money is secondary. How do I over come the wage/experience hurdle and at least get in the door?
