  • MOT - there are a couple of cracks in the offside wing-mirror - will it fail?

There is still a large area intact (about 2/3) so I can see clearly what's behind me. I'm debating whether to get one of those stick-on mirrors, or just leave it. On a very tight budget so don't want to spend money unnecessarily... Thanks!

  • Creating a chart in Excel, trouble with axis values?

I want to create a line chart with the item on the x-axis, and the date on the y-axis (on my spreadsheet, the left column and top-row respectively). I can only get it to show either the date or the item, with the other being the series, and the second axis being a numeric value (which isn't relevant to this data, I've just got an x to show yes, blank for no). Can you help please? Thanks.

  • Online Backup recommendation please?

I'm living in a 1st floor flat and the guy below me smokes, so I want to use an off-site backup service in case the place goes up in flames (OK, maybe I'm slightly paranoid - that's another issue!).

I've tried "BT Digital Vault" which was very disappointing. I'm thinking of trying something like "Backup Direct", but would appreciate recommendations from anyone who's used an online backup service. Reliability is more important than cost.

    Thanks v much.

  • Why aren't email scams (spam) illegal?

Am I the only person who thinks people who blatantly try to con people out of money should be stopped and punished? Most are successfully filtered out, but I still get them from people who've "inherited a fortune" and need to find a mug to launder it for them, and from people pretending to be legitimate businesses (banks etc) asking for my marital status, bank account details, address, ID card number etc. Surely this shouldn't be legal! Why aren't they being tracked down and stopped?!

  • Reflexology Portable Recliner Chair - any good?

I'm doing a reflexology course and will be visiting clients in their homes. I'm debating whether to get a couch or a chair, but I've never tried the chair (Lafuma brand - don't know of any others). Do you know what they're like to use? Thanks.

  • Website contact form v email address?

I had my email address on my old website and got lots of spam. I was told that a contact form is the best way to prevent spam so I've created one for my new site. I've now been told by my web host that you get a million times more spam through a contact form. Has anyone had any experience of this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Driver for MP3 player?

I've bought three different MP3 players, none of which work because the driver isn't installed. They all say that if you have Windows XP (I do), then you don't need to install a driver, and consequently they haven't provided one. I managed to find the appropriate driver for my current MP3 player but when I tried downloading it but the installation doesn't work, it gets stuck saying it's searching for software (or hardware, can't remember which).

The MP3 manufacturer has a troubleshooter which I used. It said I should have a "USB Mass Storage Device" under Universal Serial Bus controllers - I haven't got that. The troubleshooter didn't say how to solve that problem. Any suggestions on where I can get this device? I assume that's what's causing my problem...

    Thank you!

  • Norton or Bullguard? Which is the best internet security?

I've used Norton for a couple of years, then my computer died so I got a new one. It came with 3 months of Bullguard installed - I'd never heard of it before so don't know how reliable it is. Should I go back to Norton or stick with Bullguard? Or is there a better one out there? Thanks.

  • How can I transfer files from my old computer to my new one - it's tricky, see details below...?

My old computer won't connect to the monitor (which is why I bought the new computer) so I can't run the Files & Transfer Wizard. I've got a serial cable to connect the two PCs but you have to run the wizard from both, not just the receiving computer. I've been assured that the hard drive is fine, it's probably a problem with the motherboard on the old PC that stops it working with the monitor (cables and graphics card have been tested and are fine). Can it be done through the cable without using a monitor on the old PC? Otherwise, would it be possible to put the old hard drive in my new computer (there is a slot for it) and transfer files that way? I had a look for instructions but it all seemed very complicated, going on about partitioning the drives etc - is all that necessary? I didn't really understand it. What does that do? At the moment I just want to get what's on my old hard drive onto the new one. Please help! Thanks...

  • Computer monitor says "No Input Signal" and goes to power save?

It was working perfectly, then when I switched on yesterday, that's all it said. I've checked all the leads - everything is connected as it should be, lights come on as normal, computer's humming happily to itself... It's not on warranty so I'm hoping I can fix it myself - can you suggest anything please? Thanks!

  • Poem called "Why Doesn't She Come?" - no p***taking answers please?

I read this poem at school, almost had it memorised, then lost it. It's bugging me - I can't find a copy anywhere. Do you know the author or know where I can find it please? The first few lines are

    "Why doesn't she come?

    I know we said eight

    Or was it half past?

    That clock must be fast..."
