  • Renault clio or Ford Fiesta?

    Hi

I want to buy a used car and I am stuck between clio and fiesta. I like the looks of fiesta which is 03 model and has 98k mileage, clio has 82k mileage but is a 05 model and is costing me 200 quids more. Both have same features and I only drive in town around 2000 miles a year. For other purposes we have a crv. Can someone suggest which is a better option. At present, I have a Fiat punto which has been nothing but trouble so I am fed with getting the car fixed. Just want the new car to be less trouble and want it for 2-3 years and then change it.

    Thanks for your time.

  • Would you stand up for your wife/partner?

I have been reading an interesting book about relationships. It says that usually a man would stand up for his wife/ partner but in a situation where it involves a family member of the man throwing insults or mocking his wife/partner, he is less likely to stand up. On the other hand, if the situation is reversed when it is wife's family going at the husband/ partner there are higher chances of a women defending her man.

Is it true in your case? I am not accusing anything so pls don't be defensive. I am just writing what I read.

I don't want to put the author' name here bcoz it will start a whole new debate, I will just say that his books have recd good reviews.

I have tried all sorts of foods, some of my favorite recipies , going out to restaurants but nothing works. As soon as I put the food on my plate , I dont feel like eating it so I just force myself to eat. I dont have any gastritis issues and I am quite healthy otherwise. Has anyone else ever felt like that?

  • Where do you position your car when going straight on roundabouts?

I am not looking for a driving lesson and I am well aware of the highway code. Its just that I was waiting for a take away order from a restra at a busy roundabout when I noticed that almost everyone positioned their car on the right on the give way line of the rounabout while going straight. Only the people who were exiting the first exit used the left positioning. It is a standard roundabout with 4 exit and is single lane with left at 9 o clock , st at 12 and right at 3 o clock.

I see this happening at every roundabout in my area so I was wondering what everyone else is doing?

Just want to know if he is pulling my leg.

  • Have the rules of driving changed?

This has happened twice today and I am confused. This morning , I signalled right and was waiting on my side to turn on a junction. There was a car coming from front and was close to junction so I was waiting for it to pass. There were no vehicles behind me and the car had clear road to pass. The women who was driving from front , stopped and started making hand gestures as to why I am not turning right. I understand when people give away their right of way but that was just rude. I thought may be she is confused so I just drove.

Then in the afternoon, I was waiting at a give way to turn left , the traffic which comes from right travel downhill and being an A road the traffic is usually at 40. There was a big que of traffic and I was waiting patiently. Someone signalled to turn left in my road. Normally, I would join the traffic at the cue but there were too many cars, the road in front of me was not clear and i thought if i turned in i would not be able to join in without forcing the car behind to press their brakes. So I just stood . But the person who wad turning left, stopped the car started blaring the horn and making gestures as to why I cant move in.

I dont understand whats wrong with people sometimes. Giving way is a courtsey. Since when has it became aggressive and since when other people have decided to think when it is safe for u to drive?

  • Driving- I wonder what I did wrong!!!?

I pass a road everyday. There are always cars parked on my left side, sometimes entire length of the road. Since the roads has a blind S bend it is difficult to see oncoming cars, so holding for cars is difficult. I travel closer to parked cars and hold in the middle of the road moving the car even closer to parked cars to let the oncoming cars pass through. It is like an everyday routine to me and I have seen a lot of people doing the same.

Though, I have also seen people passing each other without holding and sometimes grazing the parked cars or their wing mirrors. I do not see any point in that and I prefer to stop (it only takes a second for the other cars to pass through).

This afternoon I was traveling on the same road and there was a car following me. I was traveling at 15-20mph. I saw an oncoming car and I stopped, the moment I stopped- the car behind me tooted his horn. I thought he did it by mistake and I saw him flinging him arms in air in my back view mirror.

I do not understand why he reacted like that, if he was traveling behind me , doesn't he have to take my cue. I might have a hazard in front of me , a child , a person anybody. I mean what did he thought that I was parking in the middle of road? I did not brake harshly - I slowed and stopped.

I have never minded people pointing out my driving mistakes bcoz it only makes me a better driver but this incidence has only left me bewildered. Can anyone tell me what the other driver thought I did wrong?

  • Checking Mirrors while driving?

    Hi

I am sure this question has been asked a lot of times and as far as the theory goes I know the answer and I follow it to the core.

Center + Left on Left turns

Center + Right on Right turns

and I keep checking my mirrors on traffic lights and I check all 3 before moving from TL. Also I chk my rear view mirror every now and then.

The question is when I am moving on a straight road and I overtake a parked vehicle I check Center+right before overtaking which I am okay with ; but once I am crossing the parked vehicle and am moving back into my lane should I chk Center + Left again.

My instructor taught me to do that but in the real world when I am overtaking I feel it really unsafe to be looking into mirrors when I should be only looking st ahead for oncoming traffic , people moving into the lane where I want to take my vehicle etc.

There is another situation when you have parked cars on the road and there are 2 vehicles coming from opposite directions. Each vehicle moves slightly left so that both vehicles can pass without stopping. In such situations do I need to always check my center +left mirrors if I am moving slightly to the left. I have been taught to do it and I do it but all my friends argue that nobody does that in real world. I should be keeping my eyes on the road ahead. In truth, I have never seen the other driver checking their mirrors.

  • Where can I buy Glass for my car?

I need a quarterlight glass for my Honda CRV 2000 model. The glass is for the fixed triangle window in the rear driver side door. I know I can get it fixed from most windscreen repair shops but they are too expensive considering the size of glass. Most quotes I am getting are 120 quid plus. If I can get the glass I can fix it myself.

    And ideas???
