  • What do they teach in preschool?

My daughter will be starting preschool this coming school year and I was just wondering what the curriculum is for preschool? She already knows her shapes, colors, and she can identify most letters and numbers. She can also sing the whole alphabet song and count to 13 (without messing up).

  • How do I explain my husband's imprisonment to our daughter?

My husband is a convicted felon and recently got caught with a gun, which is illegal for him. That is a mandatory 2 year sentence, so he will be going to prison. We have a 3 year old daughter together. I'm just wondering how to explain this to her? He gets sentenced next week, and I would like to start talking to her about it now so it's not all of a sudden daddy's gone. I just don't know what to say. My husband and I have talked about it, but we don't really know how to approach it. She's too young to really understand, but we still want to be honest with her.

  • My husband cheated, but he doesn't seem to think so?

The other night my husband was out all night drinking. He didn't come home until 7am. I couldn't get ahold of him all night, so when he got home I was curious to know where he was. I looked through his Facebook messages to try and figure it out, hoping to find a message from a friend. What I saw instead broke me. He sent three back-to-back messages to another woman that we both know. The first one was, "Hey babe, how's it going?" Then he sent, "I miss you lol" with two kissy face emojis. The third one just said "hmu." She didn't respond to any of them. When I confronted him about it, he just said that he was drunk and looking for affection, because apparently I'm not giving it to him. He completely denies ever having a physical relationship with her, and said that there was never anything before those three messages. It was just a drunk thing. I've suspected him of "liking" her before because they always hang out, at our house of course. I believe him when he said that they've never been physical because she never responded to his messages. I'm assuming that if they had something going then she would have responded. Anyway, he doesn't seem to think that he cheated because it was only a few messages. I'm having a hard time getting over this. He also 'liked' almost all of her pics on fb, and he never likes mine. I know that may seem silly, but it's the little things. I'm very jealous, and embarrassed. He said that he won't talk to her anymore, but that's not helping.

  • Question about subpoenas and court procedings in Michigan?

My husband was arrested a few nights ago for felonious assault and weapons charges. The person who called the cops claimed that he was pointing a gun at me when he was not, but of course the cops didn't believe me. Anyway, the court is trying to subpoena me to testify against him. I can't use the spousal privilege because the crime was allegedly against me. I've been trying to avoid it. He has a pre exam conference scheduled for the 6th and a preliminary examination scheduled for the 10th. Would I be called to testify at the pre exam conference or the preliminary examination? He said he will not waive the preliminary examination because he wants to get a good plea and all that. I've heard that a lot of witnesses are not even called to testify, but I don't want to take that chance. I refuse to testify against my husband. Which one would they use a witness at?

  • Light spotting. Was this ovulation?

I normally have a 30 or 31 day cycle. On day 17 of my cycle I had some spotting. There was bright red blood a couple different times that day when I wiped. Was this most likely ovulation spotting? I also had unprotected sex with my husband the day before.

  • Lots of discharge after stopping birth control?

I just stopped taking my birth control pill three days ago, and I am having thick but slimy discharge. My husband and I are not actively trying but are not trying to prevent pregnancy either. I mainly stopped my birth control because it was making me sick. I'm just wondering if this could be a symptom from stopping the birth control or if I could already be ovulating.

If I was still taking my pills, today would be my first day of the placebo pills. The last pill I took was Thursday.

  • My 3 year old's temper tantrums are my fault! Is it too late for us?

My 3 year old has out of controll temper tantrums, and I think it is all my fault. I have recently been diagnosed with a personality disorder that makes it extremely difficult for me to control my emotions, and I have very angry outbursts frequently and usually for no reason at all. I have started counselling for this. I feel like my child throws temper tantrums like she does and expresses anger frequently because this is the behavior that I have modelled for her. I feel like a horrible mother! Is it too late for me to teach her better behavior? I mean, if I start modelling more controlled emotions, will it rub off on her? I'm afraid that I've already instilled this behavior in her and that it's too late to fix it. Maybe I can teach her the same techniques that I myself am being taught. My daughter is my world and I want to be the best mom I can be for her.

  • Why is my daughter so bad around me?

I have a 3-year old daughter, and she is so bad sometimes. I'm not talking about your typical not listening, either. She screams and kicks and throws major temper tantrums; it's horrible. And the thing is, she only seems to be that way around me. My husband says she doesn't act like that around him, and when I leave her in the nursery at church, they always tell me how good she was until I walked in. My husband seems to think that it's her way of getting my attention since I am always so busy with work and school (I work full time and I'm in nursing school). I try to be patient and understanding with her, but it's really frustraiting when she is throwing her fits. I'm on a break from school until September, so I'll have a lot more time to spend with her, but I don't know how to get her to behave. Are there any good games or anything that I can do with her? She's on this, "I want to do it by myself" phase, so I have to do things that allow her independence.

  • Sore breasts, but it's weird?

I am hopefully pregnant. My period was due 2 days ago, but I'm waiting another week or so before I take a HPT. My breasts have been sore, but not when I touch them. I'll just be sitting down watching tv and they'll feel sore and kind of like a pressure. When I got pregnant with my daughter my breasts were very sore to the touch. I also didn't start feeling any symptoms until I was about 6 weeks pregnant. If I am pregnant now, I would only be about 4 weeks. Could this still be a pregnancy symptom?

  • Is spotting a sign of pregnancy?

I'm not talking about implantation bleeding, either.

I believe I ovulated on October 22. I had egg white-like discharge with some spotting. Then on October 27 I spotted again. I was hoping that was implantation bleeding. Since then I have been spotting on and off, about every 2 or 3 days. There will either be a small amount on my underwear, or I will wipe some away. It is always a brownish color, which I know means that it's old blood. Is spotting like this a sign of pregnancy? I don't believe I spotted with my daughter.

  • Was this ovulation? I don't know if it was too early?

I had my last period from the 13 to the 16. My September period was from the 13 to the 17, giving me a 30-day cycle. I normally have irregular periods, so it was actually very unusual for me to have a period 2 months in a row. I've never been able to calculate how long my cycle is because I normally have a period about once every 2-3 months.

So anyway, on the 22 I had slimy, stringy discharge with some spotting. The blood was bright red and came out with my discharge. I didn't experience any other bleeding. But yesterday when I was in the shower I thought I noticed my discharge was once again slimy and stringy. I did an ovulation calculator for a 30-day cycle and it said that my fertile days were the 26-31 of this month. But because my periods are irregular, could I have ovulated earlier? I'm thinking this was ovulation spotting, but I'm not sure. I googled ovulation spotting and it said that it is usually brown or pinkish blood, but mine was bright red. My husband and I had sex on the 22 as well as a couple days before. We have unprotected sex regularly (about every day to every other day). Do I have a good chance at pregnancy?

I noticed when I ovulated last month, but unfortunately no luck. If I remember right, I had ovulation spotting then too but it wasn't like this.

  • Different parenting styles. What to do?

My husband and I grew up completely different from one another. I grew up in a Christain household where my parents were home every night with me and my 4 siblings, played with us, and were not afraid to show affection. He, on the other hand, grew up with two alcoholic parents who were more interested in going to the bar than spending time with him. His dad was abusive and is the kind of guy who thinks "men don't cry" and that you need to be tough or else. He would call him names all the time if he did something that his dad didn't like, like stupid and piece of sh-t. His mom tried to be a good mother, but was too afraid to step in when his dad was abusing him (physically and emotionally). She was also very emotionally unstable. She had bad bouts of depression at times, and would constantly put her problems on his shoulders. For example, if she was feeling suicidal, she would cry to him and tell him that she is going to kill herself, and it would be his responsibility to comfort her.

This bring us to the present day. We have a 3-year old daughter together. He has a tendency to yell at her for what I think are small things. For instance, he tells her to do something, she says no, and he immediately yells at her and spanks her. I, on the other hand, will give her until the count of 3, and it usually works. If not, then I give her time-out, and a pat on the butt if needed. I tell him all the time that he is too hard on her, that she is only 3. He responds by telling me that I baby her and that she's old enough to know better. He also has this view that he wants to toughen her up, and so he will yell at her if he thinks she's being a "baby."

We've talked, and he has lightened up a bit, but he still yells at her a lot when she misbehaves. Don't get me wrong, he is a wonderful father, and our daughter just adores him, but I think he is being too hard on her for her age. I also tell him that she is a girl and way different from him. We are trying to get pregnant with number 2 and I'm afraid that if we have a boy that he will be so much worse, like his father. How can I convince him that the things his dad taught him about being a man are not true? My dad taught us that a real man is someone who takes care of his family and works hard to provide for them, respects his wife, spends quality time with his kids, etc. Should I just keep talking to him and let him gradually get better like he's been doing with our daughter? I know that these things are caused by his upbringing, so I try to give him the benefit of the doubt.

  • Other women with irregular periods. TTC number 2?

I have been trying to get pregnant for going on 2 months. I already have a daughter, so this will be my second child. I've had irregular periods my whole life. My last period was right after stopping my birth control in July. I've been trying to keep track of my cervical mucus to tell if I'm ovulating, but so far it's been either thick and white or no discharge at all. I know it hasn't been that long, but I have been wanting to get pregnant for a long time and my husband just recently agreed to it (that's when we started trying). How long did it take some of you to conceive your second child? It's very depressing sometimes because I work with a woman who conceived her second child immediately after stopping her birth control, and sometimes I get a little jealous and upset, wishing that I was pregnant too. How have some of you dealt with it? And do you have any tips on conceiving faster?

  • My daughter won't poop on the potty?

My almost 3-year old daughter is fully potty trained except for poop. I cannot get her to go poop on the potty no matter what I do. I've tried making her sit in it, spanking her, telling her she's a bad girl or not a big girl, time out, making her stay on the potty, rewards if she goes, everything. Nothing seems to bother her! She went once and I gave her so much praise and I gave her some candy, but she never went again after that. I don't know what to do with her anymore. Should I just wait it out and see if she just does it one day? I'm so frustraited by her pooping in her pants all the time!

  • Should I take my child into the ER?

My almost 3-year old daughter woke up yesterday with a sore throat and was losing her voice. I just assumed that it was a normal sore throat. She seemed to be getting worse throughout the day, and her sore throat was so bad it was making her cry, so my mom took her into the ER (I was home sick with the flu, otherwise I would have taken her). They told her that it was just a virus and to make sure she is drinking plenty of fluids. They didn't do a throat culture on her at all. Today she is so much worse. She can barely talk, she is coughing all the time, and she spiked a low fever twice today (over 100 but less than 101). She hasn't really ate much, and she is just not her normal, playful self. Should I take her in again, or wait another day or two to see if it passes? I don't feel like it could be just a virus, but I just don't know.

  • Do you cramp during implantation?

My husband and I have been TTC for only a couple weeks. I didn't think I was ovulating right now, but my periods are irregular so there's no telling when I will ovulate. This morning I had some cramping that only lasted about 30 seconds. I don't remember if I cramped with my daughter. I know I am probably jumping the gun here, but I have been wanting a second child for a while now. Also, if you do cramp, how often does it happen? I'm trying not to think too much into it because I don't want my body to start messing with me, but I can't help it sometimes. Any info would be great!

  • TTC and vitamin supplements?

I've recently been diagnosed with vitamin D and B12 deficiencies, and was put on supplements. I take 3,000 units of vitamin D per day and 1,000mg of vitamin B12. My husband and I just started TTC our second child, and I would like to start taking prenatal vitamins now. Could I cut back on my current vitamins, because the prenatal vitamins I'm sure have those in them? I just don't want to take in too much.

  • Period after stopping birth control. How soon can I get pregnant?

I stopped my birth control on the 27th of July, and on the 29th I got a period. Yesterday was my last day on it, so it lasted 6 days. I know that it wasn't a real period, that it was because of me stopping my birth control, so could I get pregnant any time? When would I ovulate? And anther question just out of curiosity, why do you get a period after coming off birth control? Thanks for any answers! My husband and I are exciting to be TTC our second child!

  • When will I ovulate? Irregular periods?

I know that you usually ovulate around day 14 of your cycle for about 5 days, but what if you have irregular periods? My periods have never been "normal." I will get a period that will last about 4 or 5 days, regular flow, then I won't have another one for about 3 months. My last period was around June 10, then about the 16 of July I had light spotting. I had a negative pregnancy test, and no symptoms, so I assumed that was my period for July. I started a birth control pack the following Sunday, and my husband and I decided to start trying again (long story) so today will be the first day in 2 weeks that I will not take my pill. Because my periods are so sporadic, it's hard to pin point when I will ovulate. Would I ovulate before getting a period, or after? It seems like it would be before because isn't the reason you bleed is to get rid of the eggs that weren't fertilized? I know that I will probably get a period soon, but that will most likely be from stopping the birth control. I want to be pregnant very bad, so sorry if I'm rambling, lol.
