2 AnswersHorses6 years agoFirst Saddle!!! Saddle Pad?
So I am stupid-excited because I just got my first saddle! It is a 16" Barnsby Saddle. I got it as an in house buy for $200 dollars with $200 worth of repairs (all 6 billets). I also got a free saddle pad with it. The only issue is the horses at my barn, about 17" saddles fit them so I was thinking that I should get a half-pad to make it fit better because I heard this could help. So my question is about the size of the saddle pads. I feel like the normal size of a saddle is 17.5". But when I was looking at half-pads almost all I saw were 20-23" half pads! Why is this? Would a 20 1/2 - 21" half pad fit my saddle? Thanks in advance for all answers! (:

Solve for x: 3(square sign)x+1-2(square sign)x-4 =5. How do you solve this and what is x.
3 AnswersMathematics8 years agoPart of a math problem?
How does (4+x)^2 = 16+8x+x^2. I know that 4*4=16 and x*x=x^2. But how did they get 8x??? So basically how to square that type of problem. Like what would (5+z)^2 be I know it would be 25 and z^2 but how do you get the middle?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Thanks in advance, no rude comments please.
3 AnswersMathematics8 years agoHorse Breed/Trainer Question?
So I am sort of looking for my first horse and I was talking to my trainer about it. The topic of my first horse was brought up and so I mentioned that I really wanted an OTTB or a TB or some other WB or cross. But the thing is. I don't want a Quarter Horse. I know that it would mellow the horse out but I don't like how stocky they are. So my trainer mentioned an Appendix but I don't particularly want a QH cross. Now I know that pretty much all WB's are hot-headed, but I will get a horse at least a year from now so I would have been riding for about 3.5 years and my barn is getting new horses and one is a Hano/TB and I think I am going to be able to ride him. But I kind of feel bad for some reason if I tell my trainer that I don't want a QH because one of her horses is a QH cross and he is awesome but I don't know I just don't like heavier breeds. So sort of three questions.
1. I know that horses have personalities but are their calmER disposition.
2. Should I just try an Appendix even if I don't really want one.
3. Are all WB/QH crosses stocky?
7 AnswersHorses8 years agoHorsey Blankets :):):):):):):):)?
Okay so I have heard many different opinions about blanketing horses but I wanted more opinions. So 2 questions.
1) Are these enough blankets: (for one horse)
1 lightweight stable sheet
1 medium weight blanket
1 medium weight turn out waterproof sheet
1 heavy weight blanket
1 turn out blanket
1 fleece cooler and
1 anti-sweat
question 2) what blankets/sheets do you have for your horse?
4 AnswersHorses8 years agoWhat Breed Of Horse Should I Get?
oIt to get a horse but I don't know what breed I should get. * I know sometimes horses don't work out how you plan, I just want an idea of where to start *
So my riding skill is like a low advanced, so like an advanced intermediate to beginner advanced. Basically I have really strong walk, trot, canter and I have galloped 3 times but for only about 6-8 strides. My highest jump on record is 3 foot 4 inches, I usually jump 2'6 - 2'10 in my normal lessons. I can do Training level technique jumping courses but at BN-N height. My dressage is getting better but I am still working on my transitions. I am comfortable in xc and my largest xc jump was N size so, 2'6 tall, 2'6 wide. I have done bank ups and a few bank downs, I have jumped through low bushes over logs, coops, water, over picket fences, a like 4 inch ditch but it was in front of the picket. In stadium I have done square oxers up to about 2'9. I have done narrows, corner BOXES not corners, triple combinations gates bounces all of that. And I am also very competent with mares, I am actually better at riding them than geldings. ( I am not bragging, just telling you and even my trainer has told me this) I like them better also, we just get along. I am a very sensitive rider , again my trainer tells me this, I am very forgiving and can handle bolts, rears, bucks spins, etc. I am working on backing up. I can ride green horses and have jump-trained 2 horses, I have child-broke 3 or 4 horses. I can groom, tack, lead, I know basic first-aid. And after the summer I get to ride my trainers OTTB who is 6 years old. With dressage I have done shoulder-ins, haunches-in, leg yields, free walk, "short canter", "Long canter", etc. I can lunge/ free lunge horses without a problem and am a quiet person in general.
What I want is a horse that is Brave, Sensitive but not really touchy, A good jumper, Light boned, Has nice gaits, Kind of hot, well I guess I should say spirited, And ultimately a horse I can bond with. Preferably a horse that is 15.3. Some breeds that I have been recommended before is a Morgan, An OTTB, a TB, or a warmblood cross. Thanks for all answers. Any more info. needed just comment and I will add that. Thanks again :)
6 AnswersHorses8 years agoAre these good Violas?
I am going to play the viola next year so obviously I need an instrument. I found some violas at the Music and Arts website and I was wondering which of these is the best.
Viola #1- Yamaha Model 5 I would need a 14" or 15" -
http://www.musicarts.com/Yamaha-Model-5-Viola-Outf...
Viola #2- Knilling Bucharest-
http://www.musicarts.com/Knilling-Bucharest-Viola-...
Viola #3- Strobel Viola 15" MA-80-
http://www.musicarts.com/Strobel-Viola-15in-Outfit...
Viola #4- Knilling Heritage-
http://www.musicarts.com/Knilling-Heritage-Viola-O...
Also I was wondering if it would be better to get a viola that's a bit too big or a viola that's a bit too small. Because a 14" is just a smidge too small but a 15" is just a smidge too big. I was thinking a smidge too big because I am still going to grow. But that's it. Thanks!:)
4 AnswersClassical8 years agoAre these good saddles #2?
Okay so I know I asked this question but now I found 2 more saddles that I like so I am just asking again. So the black dressage saddle I would use for the dressage part of shows (duh) and I would probably ride in it maybe 1 time every week to every other week even though that seems a really small amount of time in that saddle I have a feeling that the jumping saddle would be more i dont know just I would use it more. The brown jumping saddle I would use for the rest of the time and I would use it for xc and showjumping. So thats all, every answer is appreciated although please no rude ones. Thanks again! :)

3 AnswersHorses8 years agoAre these good saddles?
Okay, so i found two saddles that I need someones opinion on. I am doing eventing and at first I wanted an all purpose saddle but revising that I want two, 1 for dressage and 1 for showjumping & XC. Also are these good quality and is the close-contact an okay color or would I have to use black. And one stupid question: Can I talk during XC, like I know in dressage I can't talk but can I yell in excitement or like scream : "GOOD GIRL!!!". Okay, so thats all and any tips for girths and covers and martingales. Thanks! :)
3 AnswersHorses8 years agoBuying a horse overseas?
I want to a buy a Zangersheide and I found horses I like in Belgium and England and France so I was wondering if it is okay to go buy a horse overseas without seeing the horse. I was thinking it could be a scam and I guess I fly out if I had to but is it okay to just buy a horse and never ride it? Have you ever done that before? Is it mandatory to go I have heard that horses can look really nice and become a total nightmare but still....... Bottom line is: Would it be okay. Should I see it. Sorry if I was too repetitive but oh well... :) Thanks!

How do you change your youtube channel name. It only lets you use your real name or it sends you an email. Everyone has weird names but obviously its not their real name and its so frustrating!

5 AnswersHorses8 years agoExtremely herd-bound mare?
There is a little mare at my stables who is the alpha mare. She can be very sweet but has a huge default. She is extremely herd-bound. To the point where it's rude and naughty. She refuses to come in and refuses to let you catch her. Even if you have grain she is bad. We are being very clear that we (everyone who has to catch her) want her to come and let us catch her. She wears a halter in the pasture but that doesn't help. Sometimes she lets us catch her after awhile sometimes never. It depends om her mood. The reason why this upsets me is because A) She has loads of potential. and B) I love her! The worst part is she's so bad they are going to make her leave if it doesn't get better. Any tips on making her more agreeable. Please help, I would hate to see her go :(
1 AnswerHorses8 years agoIs a welsh pony/TB cross a good eventing prospect?
I know a pony that I know I would have a good time eventing her. She is a very good jumper and has done 2'9 courses. She is very scopey though. Would she be able to do eventing well. I can solve the 'scopiness' (sorry if i didnt spell this right). I just want to know if 2'9 is high enough for eventing. No mean comments please. Thanks!
3 AnswersHorses8 years agoHeight issue when jumping Please read!?
I know someone who can jump up to 2'6 confidently. But when the bar/crossrail/etc. is raised to 2'9 her legs, knees more specifically fly out just before the landing. She hasn't fallen and feels secure but if it goes higher she could fall and I don't want that to happen. Any tips? Thanks if you answer.
Please no rude/mean comments!
