  • A hypocrisy: Child Marriage -- Why Hasn't It Been Banned?

    Scenario 1:

A Man in NH marries off his 13 year old daughter to a 50 year old man. Yes -- 13 year-old children can be married off in NH -- MA is worse at 12. All the others are 16 and one or two 17. So back to my story of that child marriage situation. Marital sex would be completely legitimate and legal. Why?

Scenario 2: A 50 man in NH secretly dates a 13 year old girl, has sex with her, and the girl's parents find out. They call the police. The 50 year old man gets arrested, goes to jail for a while, and once out is a permanent sex offender. Why?

This doesn't make any sense to me at all. If you say Scenario 2 is just and logical, then you have to say Scenario 1 is highly illegal and should not be permitted until the child becomes a full adult. My question is why hasn't anyone given a damn about this? I live in DE and am going to reach out to my representatives to see why we permit parents to consent their children into what would be a statutory rape case in any other situation.

While a majority of states allow parent consent at the age of 16, NH breaks my heart and MA just sickens me for ages of 13 and 12. What is even more f'd up is NH allows 13 year old girls to be wedded by parental consent but not 13 year old boys -- that is age 14 for them? WTH kind of law is that? What kind of logic is that? Do girls ripen before boys do or did some lawmaker have a 13 year old he really wanted to marry? Ponder on that one a bit. Thoughts?

  • 12 Cup Coffee Maker: How many Tbsp of Grounds?

    Okay,

I love my coffee and brew at least one to two pots daily and I feel like I have a fairly good ratio I use in it.... but.... the amount of grounds I use in my maker do not equal to any recommended dosages on the back of any coffee grounds package.

So my question is this: Is 2 Tbsp per 6 to 8 oz really the standard? If that is true, in a 12 cup pot, that would require 24 Tbsp of grounds if I followed the directions to the T.... That's about a 1 1/2 cups of Coffee grounds from my grinder. Not only would that overflow my coffee maker but my filters I use appear to be way too shallow to hold that much grounds and prevent it from clogging. Am I missing something? I usually put in a little over 1/2 cup of coffee into my pot and it makes a good brew everytime. I read an article from Yahoo! talking about mistakes you can make when brewing coffee and even they say to use that fabled ratio... If I am to use that much coffee, where do you buy deep coffee filters and why can't you pick them up at coffee shoppes or even grocery stores (not even in Walmart have I seen deep filters that could fit that much grounds in).

If this is not the standard, why are they printed on prepackaged coffee's and also seems to be the talking norm for some people?

Here's the article that sparked my question:

  • I want a unique sports car I have two in mind....?

I've been a Prius driver for some time now and own two 2012 Prius's fully loaded. (Type IV and V). I decided to get a little sports car that would turn heads or stir up conversations as I get out of the car. I had two cars in mind but was wondering if anyone else could suggest something that is eye catching, not necessarily an every day car you see on the road, has some get up and go and is below 100,000 USD.

The cars I were looking to were:

A Nobel M400 (very fast car)

Lotus Evora S or Exige (S might not be available in the US)

I'm also looking into the possibility of an ETV from Mike Vetter (been communicating to him and am sure I can get the car built to my spec for about 120k ish).

Here's some info on the cars:

    http://kitcarmike.com/the-car-factory-store/etv.as...

    http://www.lotuscars.com/us/our-cars/current-range...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noble_M400

I'm realistic in terms of accepting if I can't get a 2013 Exige S but an earlier model. The Nobel M400 is taggable in my state so I know I can get that one. The Evora is taggable across the US so I know I can get that one local here. The ETV is simply neat. I could always buy something turbocharged and have it built on top of the car of my choice. I'm simply not sure which path to take. I'm open to suggestions as well! If you've seen a sporty looking car that isn't a dime a dozen, let me know what it is and I will consider it :)

    Thanks for answering!

What do you do for your wife that makes her day? It can be something as simple or it can be complex. It can cost money or it can be an activity that costs nothing. It has to be something that earns to brownie points!
