  • Would it be reasonable?

Would it be reasonable to advocate for legislation to ensure that men couldn't be forced into fatherhood because a woman they had sex with became pregnant?

By fatherhood I mean being male and having a responsibility (financial, emotional, etc) for a child?

For those wondering, the question is flip on the abortion issue where women have the legal right to not become a mother even though they may have willingly engaged in the act (sex) that led to their pregnancy.

  • How can i make sure that something I buy on craigslist wasn't stolen?

I run a small pre-owned electronics company. We advertise ourselves on craigslist. We've had a couple situations where a police officer has come in to inquire about some stolen merchandise that was sold to us. They haven't been terribly helpful in pointing me in a direction to help mitigate buying in stolen property. I'd appreciate any info anyone has on what the protocol is or what I NEED to be doing to limit our exposure to that sort of thing. Is there some kind of database i should be inputing serial numbers into online? Is there someone I inform and wait for a go ahead before i try to resell something. What should I do?

  • Is it legal to copy terms and conditions from a website?

I'm starting a company with a website an there are others already in the market. I was wondering if it was legal to simply copy their Terms and Conditions from for my website instead of having a lawyer write up an original one.

Thanks for any answers I get

I upgraded to it yesterday and I want to buy another, I don't mind paying full price. Also, I don't want to buy from eBay or anything. I want one from the source or carrier...how can i make this happen??

  • If a fetus is a parasite then why?

If a fetus is a parasite and not considered a conscious life then how can someone be charged with murder or manslaughter for killing it? (this has happened...if someone kills a pregnant woman they are charged with 2 counts of murder)

Example: If a man slips his lady an abortion pill early enough in the pregnancy and she miscarries he could face criminal murder charges.

So why is it not murder if a woman chooses to take the abortion pill? Same result in both cases, yet one is seen as justified. Isn't that the definition of a double standard?

  • Why is it reasonable to say "It's her body"?

My question is pertaining to abortions. I've heard a lot that no one should tell a woman what to do with her body. That sounds reasonable but if you think about it,government always tell people what to do with their body. (You have to wear a seatbelt in a car, for example. Why is there no marches on this when it comes to being told what to do with your body?).

What about the rights of the unborn? There is no consensus or even close to a consensus on when life begins...so wouldn't the prudent thing be to consider something alive UNTIL proven otherwise?? Like the recent search for the miners in West Virginia, you treat them as alive until proven they are not.

So would that mean that because an unborn life relies on someone else in the early stages that it's "life" is less important and left up to a choice of what to do with it?

    Maybe I just don't get it...opinions?

  • Why is choice right when it comes to abortion?

I'm asking this question to people who consider themselves pro-choice. I'd like to have civil responses if possible.

I don't believe I've ever heard a reason why choice is right- except for a blanket answer about choice in general. No woman ever just becomes pregnant, pregnancy is a result of action. Why is the choice to dismiss consequences of actions acceptable or seen as a right? Even with condoms or birth control, nothing is 100% effective (they never claim to be) so when you engage in an act then you are accepting the risk right? Isn't that the whole point of risk? You don't just get to walk away or quit when you "lose".

  • What's up with Twilight?

It's incredibly popular with teenage and even adult women. WTF?

The ENTIRE premise is ludicrous and an insult to women. A 109 year old man is in love with a 16 year old girl. He admits he has a violent and terrible streak in which he has killed people (basically telling her to keep her distance) she decides she doesn't care because he's good looking and she loves him...blah blah blah.

I would never let my daughter watch such filth. Why aren't there rampant complaints about this movie and more effort to write and film movies that depict strong, hardworking, capable women who struggle and sacrifice and make good judgement, instead of a durge of a film with a girl with no personality or aspiration who's only quality is she's in love with an admitted killer. WTF, iget that it's fantasy but you don't want to perpetuate this type of fantasy among young girls. We have too much of a history of violence in relationships to show young girls movies in which if you love a certain type of man enough then he won't hurt you...its utter nonsense. Am i alone in this?

  • A question about the Tiger Woods situation?

Can i get some opinions as to why these women that Tiger Woods had an affair with feel compelled to come forward to ruin him? I mean, they had a relationship with the man so its conceivable they cared about him to a degree...they know this news would ruin his life, why come forward?

They can't feel slighted because they themselves ARE the OTHER women, what's the deal? Are they just evil and want to kick someone when he's down just because they can?

This isn't a question about whether or not Tiger deserves it...it's a question about why these women feel compelled to pile on instead of just moving on with their lives.

  • My girlfriend and I broke up, she's an authorized user on one of my credit cards?

Is there any way for to have the card fully transferee to her so I'm no longer on the hook for any of the charges? She's the only one that uses the card and I'm sure she'd agree but will the bank do it?

  • 3rd Part question on abortions for healthy pregnancies?

After reading more responses to prior questions I've pinned down where my confusion lies.

Most arguments on the pro-choice side are based on the difficult situation for women, which is understandable and good. However, there seems to be a divergence from the other reality in my mind, which is that pregnancies are the result of a choice that women has made (except for rape situations of course). Hence, it can surely never be an accident (accident implies complete lack of foresight to possible futures) Pregnancy is not a randomly occurring event, it is the result of a choice.

Even with condoms (which i live by as a male) and Birth Control pills, nothing is rated as 100% effective, so going into it you know the possibility is still there. I would posit that its part of being an human being, taking the necessary steps to mitigate events you wish not to occur in your choices but still accepting responsibility if they do and not abdicating it.

What do you think? I want all opinions, even if they seem obvious to you.

    Thanks

  • 2nd part question on abortions for healthy pregnancies?

I asked a question yesterday on this topic and got some good responses, and i want to further ask questions based on those responses.

Why is it a good argument that someone shouldn't have to deal with the consequences of a mistake? After all, drunk drivers don't get to go free because they weren't thinking straight.

Someone also brought up the point that its the woman's body so it MUST be her choice. I agree with that except a separate life technically is not her body but merely attached to it. Life develops suprisingly quickly, it only takes 4 weeks for a heart beat to develop, and for rudimentary brain activity. It's hard to say something with a heart beat, brain activity and continuous growth isn't alive.

Furher thoughts? Be windy if need be, i love reading ideas.

  • Can someone explain to me why abortions should be legal?

I want people who are strongly pro-choice to tell me why "choice" based abortions should be legal. I specify the word "choice" because I don't believe health issues are debatable, but the choice of abortion during a standard healthy abortion is what i want to talk about.

Please give me some insight because i want to get a better understanding, also please keep in mind that no one is forced to raise a child in America, anonymous dropoffs are legal and the rape scenario is few and far between because part of the rape-kit is a suggested option for the morning after pill.

So please just tell me why someone should have the right to end a healthy pregnancy?

Thanks, Look forward to hear all thoughts.

  • Could legalized abortions hurt more than help?

Do you think that legalized abortions being presented as a woman's reproductive rights issue is actually hurting more than helping?

What i mean is the abortions ostensibly is about giving women choice on their reproduction, however I actually think it treats the symptom and not the disease.

Reproductive choice doesn't begin after a confirmed pregnancy. Sexual responsibility and better decision making should be first on the line in attacking the problem. More abortions are not going to reduce the STD rates or the number of women dying from cervical cancer (which can be the end result of contracting HPV).

I didn't go into very much detail but i want to hear male and female opinions. What do you think?
