  • What is wrong with this picture?

    Only 5% of the stimulus money has been spend- projected at 11% spend by the end of the year. At this rate it will take almost 10 years to spend the money to revive the economy, and they are talking about another stimulus package- ahhhhh what?????

    Cash for clunkers had run out of money, changed the rules mid game, and has had constant computer failures.

    And now they want to start ANOTHER program?

    How about administering the ones they already have in place first??

  • Why the heck so bills keep getting passed unread?

    Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous? No matter what side of the fence you are on (liberal or conservative) , does the idea that our elected officials are passing bills unread sound totally ridiculous? We are told never to sign a contract without reading it- what the heck is this- it really ticks me off! It seems so irresponsible.

  • Was this racist at the Inauguration?

    Not trying to stir up trouble, but at the inauguration, during the sermon, the gentleman a, among other things, said "when white will do what's right". Isn't that a racist comment. It's been bothering me and I wondered what you people thought. It seems like a lot of stuff that gets said, if we inserted another race than white, it would be racist but against whites , they act like it's OK- doesn't seem right .

    By the way- I am a minority person- trying to look at things right.

  • Unlawful restraint? Bullying? What would this fall under- help , please!?

    A friend has a problem, her 14 year was sitting in the school entry area before the bell (there are benches) and another boy, 17 years old and a lot bigger, sat on him and wanted to hug. (This older boy likes to hug everyone whether they want it or not). After asking him to get off, the 14 year shoved the older boy off and it escalated with the 14 year old having marks around his neck from the 17 year olds hands.

    The school issued a two detention to both kids. When the parents of the 14 year old protested and couldn't get anywhere, they called the police station for an appointment to file charges on the 17 year old. they were met by the police plus the principal of the school who informed the parents that both boys would be charged with disorderly conduct. They also said there was a video but no audio of what happened and refused to let the parents see it. There were witnesses to the incident and when the school had originally called they left a voice mail, I heard it, saying that the older boy had sat on the 14 year old and the situation escalated. Can anyone give any advice? 14 year old is nice kid, never in trouble, nice family.

  • This is for naturalized citizens-?

    I am one and very grateful to America for the opportunities, as are other friends that are naturalized. We are very upset that anyone would damn America and, if they did it in our presence, we would be outraged and speak out. It made the voting very easy for us- just on that issue- I wonder if it's just us? No matter what the problems this is a great country, and freedom of speech an all that, but still we can't still for that. I wonder how other naturalized citizens feel?

    Thank you-

  • Just got this e-mail- what do you think? Facts?

    TO ALL, LIBERALS OR CONSERVATIVES...FYI only.

    George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.

    A little over one year ago:

    1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

    2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

    3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.

    4) the DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +

    5) American's were buying new cars,taking cruises,vacations overseas, living large!...

    But American's wanted 'CHANGE'! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes--we got 'CHANGE' all right. In the PAST YEAR:

    1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;

    2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;

    3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);

    4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION

    DOLLARS and prices still dropping;

    5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

    6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~

    $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!

    YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE.AND WE SURE GOT IT! ....

    REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.

    AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

    NOW THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO REALLY GIVE US CHANGE ALONG WITH A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!!!

    JUST HOW MUCH MORE 'CHANGE' DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAND?

  • The whole Ellen Degeneres and Mutts and Moms thing?

    Does anyone find it as crasy as I do? I see why they make their rules about returning the pet to the shelter, but couldn't they have checked the home out and let the family keep the dog? Gone into an agreement with the hairdresser's family? It sounds like another group of power hungry people who want to feel like they are important, sad but often seen in some of these "rescue" organizations. Too bad they don't have compassion and a sense of rightness.

  • Selling a high end property in Illinois?

    I have a property, residence with 10.1 acres, great location, priced very well according to realtors, for 1.1 M., comps over that. Had two interested parties, both have problems- selling their place in one case, something else in the other. Been on the market since 9/12/06. Trying to decide if to switch realtors and leave it on the market or to just hang it up for now, maybe sell next year. Talked to one realtor who thought the market is coming back, not sure what to believe and am getting really sick of this. I don't need to sell, just moving to be closer to my grown children. Thanks!

  • Ramm horse fencing?

    I'm checking out fencing options for my horses and I was looking at Ramm fencing. It says that the posts can be 30-50 feet apart , which sounds too far to me. I would like to know if anyone has had experience with it and what you found. I appreciate the help!
