  • Advice on working hours?

My husband is a delivery driver. He normally starts work at 330 am, and the time he finishes depends on where he has to go that day. His shortest working day is 12 hours, and 95% of that is spent driving. His longest day is about 17-18 hours. Are there rules on how many hours driving he can do in one day? The problem is there's no way to prove how many hours driving he does. Also, are there rules on how many hours he can do in one day? By the time he gets home tonight, he's going to have 7 hours max before he has to start work again, and that's before he has his tea, shower etc. His work keep promising to do something but they seem to be false promises, and as he is salaried, he's currently earning less than £4 per hour!

  • Question about redundancy pay?

My fiance has been made redundant and is due 3 weeks redundancy pay. His boss wants to give it to him in 3 lots, so that he doesn't have to pay it all out at once. Is he allowed to do that? I thought he had to do it in one lump sum? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as my fiances boss has already done him out of 6 days holiday pay and gone about the redundancy in the totally wrong way. We're in the UK. Thanks in advance :-)

  • Paternity work rights?

I am currently 25 weeks pregnant with our first baby. When i was 16 i had a stillborn baby who was 8 weeks early. Because of this, i have to see my consultant quite alot and the doctors think that this baby may be early as well. Last week i got alot of pains and had to go to the hospital. I called my fiance back from work to come with me. The Drs think it was an infection, but my fiance had to take a couple of days off of work to keep an eye on me in case the infection brought on my labour. All in all he had2 1/2 days off work due to this last week. His boss has spoken to him today as he is worried about how much time off he will have to have, but i was wondering if anyone knows what rights my fiance has, as i am now not only worried about how early the baby will be, but about my partner losing his job for having to have time off. I know he is entitled to 2 weeks off for paternity leave when the baby is born, and we are going to write a letter requesting this for the date the baby is due, but what if we keep having scares like last week and what if the baby is early, can he be refused his leave? His boss having such a lack of understanding has really upset me, i know he has a business to run, but i just want to make sure we know what all our rights are because he will try and get out of everything he is obliged to do. Any help appreciated!

  • My 11 month old collie shakes and her fur seems to be falling out?

She seems okay in herself, she is still playful and lively, but sometimes she shakes really badly and in the past week or so she seems to be malting an awful lot. Obviously it's the middle of winter, so sure this isn't right, but sometimes her fur is seeming to come out in clumps. She doesn't seem ill, but am still concerned.

  • Hcg levels not going up as much as they should?

I got a pos preg test about 2 weeks ago. I thought i was about 6 weeks, but now think i may have got my dates wrong. I had a scan last week as i was getting tummy pains and drs thought it may be ectopic. Couldn't see much so had another on mon. They could see the gestational sac, but not the yolk sac. At the bottom of the gestational sac there was like a flickering, the guy said it might be the babys heartbeat, but could also be mine so couldn't put it in the scan report, but he also said he was quietly confident all would be okay. Saw the Dr again yest after having repeat bloods to check hcg, and he said as it should double every 48 hours, he said it may be a failing pregnancy as it had only risen by about 50%. I have just read that it should double every 48-72 hours, so from that, i should be about right. I'm just worried that they couldn't see the yolk sac yet. Has anyone had any experience of this? I am so worried.

  • Help with dog training?

I have an 8 month old collie puppy. She is quite well behaved, but when she is left on her own she chews whatever she can find. We are moving to a new, rented house next week, and i need to get her out of this habit. We have tried making sure she has plenty to keep her entertained, but whatever we do doesn't make a difference, she will still chew anything. She chew through an electric wire last week, while it was switched on! Has anyone got any tips to get her out of this habit?
