  • Hidey House Question? Guinea Pigs?

I was wondering if I got an all natural bamboo basket from dollar tree would be okay as a hidey house since it cost less than you typical igloo. I would cut out on opening in middle and do something with the rough edges, maybe put fabric over it. My real question is it safe to use bamboo?

  • Guinea Pigs? Midwest Cage? Bedding Materials...?

SO Iam planning on getting this cage for my piggies before I get them.

    http://www.amazon.com/Midwest-Interactive-Guinea-H...

Unfortunately, I dont have a table that fits it it is (47 * 24 *14) and the table is about 15 in too short for it. This is only a problem because it has a tarp bottom.... Soooo I was thinking I could get a large piece of cardboard and cut it the same size as the bottom to create a stable surface.... yeah

Also How to you go about cleaning the tarp bottom I heard it can be really stained... I plan on using fleece with a litter pan, maybe a mixture of aspen and carefresh.... Any suggestions.

  • Taming Guinea Pig Question?

When I get my guinea pigs I want them to get use to me and be tame. I was wondering if I put and old wore shirt of mine in there nest box (since there probably going to spend a lot of time in there when they get home anyway) if that will get them familiar with my scent, and make them more comfortable with me. Also does anyone have any tips about taming guinea's?

  • Can I buy grass for my guinea pig...?

I was wondering whether or not buying the grass they sell pet stores for dogs and feed that to my guinea pigs. The dogs in the neighborhood pee and poop on the grass outside so I don't think that it's safe to eat(their is no fence). Is there something special about that grass that makes it only for dogs or is it okay to buy it for my future piggies.

  • I am planning on getting a guinea pig soon.... bedding questions, general question?

I plan on having a small litter pan with regular bedding in it in one corner of the cage by the food. I don't want to have bedding all along the bottom of the cage. I want to use fleece. But I wanted to know If I can put towels and newspaper under the fleece at the same time. and if so should I put the towels on top of the newspaper or vice versa.

Also I have already look up there requirements and habits so no preaching. I have been looking into this for about a year now, I don't rush into getting pets if I cant take care of them. I just want to know If anyone can tell me something I don't already know so that I can be the best owner possible.

    Thanks :)

  • Good soil to breed earthworms in? For my turtles?

I am going to be raising earthworms and I know that the plant food and fertilizers put in most soil aren't good for them, they are potentially deadly. I also wouldn't want to feed that to my turtles ergo it could make them sick. Does anyone know a brand or a place where I can get soil like this for my earth worms? Any suggestions are appreciated.

And please look at my other open question (^-^)
