7 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoHow do you relate a sphere's radius to the radius and height of a cylinder inside the sphere?
I'm usually one to try to figure this kind of stuff out on my own but I'm stumped on this one. I'm supposed to figure out the largest possible volume of a cylinder inside a sphere with the radius of R. How does R relate to the height or radius of the cylinder? That's all I really need to know.
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoWhy does religion want me to be stupid?
This is an honest question, I swear! Why do religious people (or maybe the public in general) complain about our failing schools and then go on to support keeping American children ignorant about things like the theory of evolution and sex education? It's stuff like this http://www.cnn.com/2007/EDUCATION/02/08/gay.marria... that just makes me wonder. Do people want their kids to be dumb and ignorant?

I read this in a few places on the net. Is it true? Or is it just a bunch of BS?
8 AnswersMedicine1 decade agoAfter Comet McNaught passes around the sun, can I see it during sunrise instead of sunset?
Yesterday I went outside to see the comet during sunset, and could see it after the sun went down through binoculars. In a few days the comet is going to swing around the sun and then be only visible to people in the southern hemisphere during sunset. My question is simple really, couldn't I just still see the comet in the northern hemisphere right before the sun rises?
2 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoIs matter anti-matter annihilation caused by interfearance?
Okay I know anti-matter is exactly the same as matter but with an opposite charge and that particles of matter exhibit both particle and wavelike properties. Is the annihilation between an electron and positron for example the result of interference between the "waves" of the two particles? Like when the peak and trough of two waves occupy the same space and cancel each other out?
2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoWhen giving a book and the author, do you put in any commas?
What i mean is like in a sentence such as "A passage from This Great Story by Billy Bob is......"
Would it be without commas like that or with commas around the author's name?
"A passage from This Great Story, by Billy Bob, is......"
I think it actually is this with the comma just after the author but I am not sure
"A passage from This Great Story by Billy Bob, is......"
4 AnswersQuotations1 decade agoWhy don't we pipe in CO2 from power plants into greenhouses?
Since burning things (like coal and oil) gives off CO2, how hard could it be to pipe that air into a greenhouse by a powerplant and let plants that grow well in high CO2 environments absorb it. It would help reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and then they can also sell flowers on the side or something.
6 AnswersEnvironment1 decade agoCan envelopes be recycled?
Like everyone else, I get a lot of envelopes in the mail. I am an avid recycler and try to recycle everything I can. It's a shame to throw away so many envelopes so I am wondering, can they be recycled like any other thing made of paper (yes I would rip the plastic windows off)? Or does the adhesive that holds most envelopes together prevent them from being recyclable?
