Hi I'm a thirty something stay-at-home Mom that enjoys the challenge of Yahoo Answers. Before Mommyhood, I worked extensively in finance and mortgages.

  • Parents of Special Needs kids, please read ?

I'm a little sad that McCain/Palin didn't win. I was hoping to get a champion in the White House for my 3-year-old son with special needs. My child wasn't supposed to live a day. The fact that he is 3 is such a precious miracle to me! Obama does not value life; which is sad! I hate to see what he is going to do to the health care system. I'm scared for him. I hope I can stay afloat bill wise. Does anyone else agree with me??

  • Career Advice been out of work 10years!

I have been a stay at home mom for the last 10 years. The current economic climate is requiring me to go back to work. I am told I have great references and do well on skill tests. My one pitfall is that most employers consider 10years to be too long to be out of the workforce. I am always told that I am being overlooked for someone with more recent experience. I have stressed the volunteer work with church and my children's' school. It is not as if I have been watching soaps for 10 years. Does anyone have any ideas for overcoming this obstacle?

  • ex boyfriend quandary?

I dated a guy about 10 years ago; we broke up on good terms and remained friends. Due to an out of state job transfer we lost contact. When I was visiting a friends myspace page; I saw he was a visitor. When I asked my friend about him, she forgot we dated. I have since learned that he is divorced. I would like to email him and catch up. Do you think my friendly email could be construed as something more serious? I am happily married!

  • Family Issues?

My Mom is emotionally unstable. She won't get the help that she needs. It has gotten to the point that I don't want anything to do with my Mom. I have two siblings that agree with me. However, I have a sister that disagrees with us. My renegrade sister is upset that I nor my siblings will have anything to do with my Mom. She sends us nasty text messages because we won't send money, make calls, ect... I have a family and I don't think I should put my resources and time into a relationship that is doomed for failure. I should also mention, my children and hubby don't feel conforable around my Mom, and my sister realizes this. What can I do to help my sister see my point of view. Do you think I'm being selfish?

  • question about realtors and renting homes?

I have a house in Las Vegas that I have been trying to sell for almost a year. The house is in a great location and is in immaculent condition being only two years ago. My agent found a family who did qualify a mortage, but since they were financing at 100%, did'nt like the rate. This was Christmas time 2006. Well, they've turned out to be horrible tenants. The rent is either late or the checks bounce. My realtor, at the time said she would not collect fees until the house closed. Yes, this is part of the contract that is signed. Between January 2007 and now, this realtor has done very little in regards to property management. She has helped us out when the tenants' dog, they lied to us when we asked if they had pets, tore up landscaping. The dog also scared the pool guy, and the realtor helped me find another one. Business is slow for my realtor and my tenants contract is due to expire soon. Realtor wants one months rent plus a monthly fee for service. Should we bite?

  • Champagne/sparkling wine question?

I need suggestions of a good, sweet sparkling wine or champagne. I'm willing to spend a little if it is sweet. I've been wanting to try something other than Martini & Asti. Just about everything I tried has been very dry. If you are suggesting something that is hard to find, what site do you use to order?

    Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!

  • Teacher Disagreement?

My son is in the third grade in Texas. He attends a public school. His grades are good, the last report card, they were straight B's and behavior is not a problem. However, his teacher is not listening to me. He is starting to struggle with math, I think I know what the problem is. He attended a private school last year, and already did the work last year this public school is currently working on. My son just hurries to get the work done. He tells me he is bored with repeating the same work. The teacher says my answer is a cop out. I've had a conference with the principal, she is just as bad, if not worse. What am I to do. I had to transfer from the private school because tuition became too high. How do you challenge a bored child? Grades and behavior was never a problem last year, either. This is the Carroll School District in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. If anyone has any experience with how to deal with this, let me know. I don't know what else to do.
