  • This cough? Is it normal?

    For the past 3-4 years, every summer I develop this slight cough. I don't really cough anything up, as if I were sick, but it's persistent from March to about September. It's dry, and short, and I only cough once or twice. I kinda do it without really realizing I'm doing it, but it happens every 10 minutes or so.

    I'm young (21 and a guy) and don't smoke or hang out with people that do, so it's not anything like that.

    I do have really bad allergies though, to several trees, grass, hay, ragweed, and a half dozen other things. I can only assume they are somehow playing a roll in this, but I'm not sure as to what.

    The main problem I'm having is this year, it's been a lot worse in last years. I was wondering what could cause my symptoms and if I went in to see a doctor would they be able to help me get rid of it?

    I usually take over the counter medicine for my allergies (benadryl and claritin), but lately they have not been as effective, and sometimes even make my cough worse.

    I'm also overweight (ya I know bad idea, I'm trying to go for bike rides every day but this cough and my allergies are getting in the way). I know it has all these negative impacts on your health. Could that be the source of my problem? Would forcing myself to work though it make it go away?

  • Hp Factory Restore, recovery drive to transfer data?

    I'm attempting to restore my sisters Hp laptop back to the factory settings using the built in HP restore manager, and I don't have any way to back up her files. I do have a Ubuntu boot disk so I was wondering if I can just copy the files she wants from the C drive to the partition that the back up is stored on (the D drive). The only thing I don't know is if that dive is reset too (thus loosing the files) or if they are saved during the restore process. I'm looking for someone who may have tried this before and knows if it works.

  • ATI 4300 compatibility with DX11?

    I'm looking for a new PC for my family and the one that I am considering getting has a ATI 4350 inside of it (as an upgrade from the MB integrated stock 4200). According to the AMD/ATI web page, it's compatible with DX10.1. I was wondering if this means that it will also work with the DX 11 that ships with the computer. I assume they have some legacy support, I just want to know if I will be able to run stuff on it that requires DX11 to run.

    I don't really want to upgrade to anything else because the only other upgrade is a Nvidia 210 or ATI 5450 which is major overkill for a family computer that will not be running anything more intensive then Sims 3.

  • Anyone know the title of this song?

    I heard this song on a t.v. show about a month back, and wrote down as much of the lyrics as I could make out (it was covered over by dialog so it was hard to get very much of it).

    I tried looking on google, but I can't find anything that matches.

    These are the lyrics that I know:

    I'll run away, just let me run,

    and I'll take it to far by the time I am done.

    If it helps any the t.v. show was Kyle XY sometime during season 2.

  • motherboard only sees part of my RAM?

    I'm having a bit of a problem with my motherboard. When I turn it on and boot the BIOS is shows that I have about 3300 (roughly) MB of RAM ( I have 4 GB installed)

    but when I run memtest86+ is sees all 4 GB and so does Vista 64. Now I know that 3300 MB is very close to the 3.25 GB cut off for 32 bit programs and I was wondering if maybe that had something to do with it.

    My MB can take up to 8 GB so its not that.

    If anyone knows why or has a solution that would be helpful, I'm just worried about the memory being faulty.

  • Problems installing motherboard?

    I am building my own PC, and this being my first build, I have only a marginal idea of what I'm doing.

    The current problem I am having is with my motherboard. I know that I need to add the brass screws to the case, but in the package with the brass screws there were a few other objects that I am not entirely sure of their function or where they should be placed.

    The first is a square plastic tab with adhesive on the bottom, On top it has a "X" that stands out from the plastic. I have no idea what to do with this, except there are some direction groves etched in the case that might point to a location (directly beneath the MB).

    The second item is a metal or plastic ring, about a inch in diameter. I haven't the faintest idea where this goes.

    If anyone cold tell me what these objects do or point me to a good site that explains what they do I would help me tremendously.

    All the parts came with my case, and the instructions look like they were written in five minutes (the install directions for the motherboard are only four lines long).

  • Notebook Graphics card running hot?

    I have an hp pavilion dv6000 with a Nvidia GE 1650 (ram integrated) graphics card. About 3 weeks ago a downloaded a tuner program from Nvidia that is tries to get the most out of their graphics cards. I let it tune it and now my graphics card runs between 72 and 80C, which I know it way to hot. I tried to undo whatever it did, but I can't seem how to get it done. I tried using the manual tune settings, but that didn't work. I tried removing the driver and installing the latest one from Hp, but that didn't work. What I want to know is if there is a program or a way that I can change it back to the default settings. I know what the settings are from the specs on Nvidia, but I need to know how.

    The motherboard is locked so I can't change the settings through the BIOS.

  • Vista, problems with WMp closing?

    OK I have Vista.... ya I know poor me oh well to late to go back and get an xp machine so...

    anyway I am using WMP that came pre-installed on the machine, and sometimes when I get done using wmp and I close it it closes and the sound stops but the process is still running and its memory usage jumps to about 110k (normal running its about 45k). I can end it manually still but I just wondered if anyone had found a solution to this.

    I tried updating to a newer version thinking it might be a bug, but I am already running thte newest version.

  • Gmail File backup program?

    I just got my laptop for college and of course I wan to protect my work in case my laptop is stolen/damaged. I know about the programs that allow you to use a gmail account as an off site hard drive. Now I would like to make it so that some of my file folders are automatically uploaded into this gmail folder every night. I have already tried several programs and they claim that they can not see or access the gmail drive. I was wondering if anyone knows of a program built for this or of a way to make these other programs understand how to access the drive.

  • Javascript function still not working?

    I am still having problems with a page I posted about a few days ago. I added what was sugested and it still does not work. I can't understadn why not, but something must be wrong.

    Function:

    function ministercalc()

    {

    var lvltoget = document.getElementById("lvltoget").value;

    for (var lvl = 2; lvl < lvltoget; lvl++)

    {

    {

    window.document.write ("working... " + lvl);

    cost += (1000*lvl);

    }

    window.document.write ("Total cost is: " + cost);

    }

    Form (inputs to function):

    <form name="ministercalc" action="">

    Minister level to obtain:<br />

    <input ID="lvltoget" type="text" name="lvltoget" value="" /> <br />

    <input type="button" value="Run" onClick="ministercalc();" />

    </form>

    Maybe you can tell me whats wrong. I keep getting an error form line 41 (first <input> line). and it says that that that object does not support that comand. When I take the type function out it works fine but the box disapperars (as is to be expected), which makes me think that is the prob

  • Termites? PVC pipe?

    I have an older house, and just last week i noticed what looked like chewed wood on the rug in my basement. I assumed that it was termites (the house has a histroy judging by the damge in other places of the basement). I called a exterminaor and they will be out to kill then soon.

    I main worry was that one of the piles of wood was near the hole drilled for the plumbing from the tub upstairs. In the pile of wood was also a large amount of what looks very much like PVC pipe (my pipes are PVC at that point) in the same fine bits as the wood. I wanted to know is it possable for termites to chew through PVC (will they try to eat PVC?), and if so should I call a plumber to to get him to look at my pipes?

  • html form not working with javascript function?

    I built this code myself its suppost to take a user input value and run the function and spit the number back out but every time I try and run it I get a error code from line 40 (IE6), saying that the object does not support that atribute, but I know it does. I numbered the lines at the comment boxes.

    function:

    <script language="JavaScript">

    <!--

    var cost = 0;

    var lvl = 2;

    function ministercalc()

    {

    var lvltoget = window.document.ministercalc.lvltoget.value;

    while (lvl < lvltoget)

    {

    window.document.write ("working... " + lvl);

    cost = cost + (1000*lvl);

    lvl = lvl + 1;

    }

    window.document.write ("Total cost is: " + cost);

    }

    // -->

    </script>

    form:

    <div id="body">

    <form name="ministercalc" action=''>

    Minister level to obtain:<br />

    (line 40)<input type="text" name="lvltoget" value="" /> <br />

    <input type="button" value="Run" onClick="ministercalc();" />

    </form>

    I just want to know why its not working and what I can do to fix it.
