  • How much should she charge per kilometer?

My mother-in-law does not own a car, and expects my wife to drive her everywhere; including back and forth to work, which is 25km each way. With gas at $1.35 per liter, it's not cheap. Also, my wife's four cylinder economy car requires maintenance; we had to put new tires on it this year, and spent over $500 repairing the air conditioning. There's always something that comes up, and the more she drives it, the more stuff wears out.

We can't afford for my wife to drive her everywhere for free anymore, so we decided that a per-kilometer charge is only fair. We don't want to profit from her dear Mom. How much should we expect to charge per kilometer of travel?

  • Should someone writing mid-term exams be expected to help with a shower?

My wife went back to school this year. She made it clear well in advance that the second week of October was a terrible week for her, as she was writing mid-terms. She really does have a busy day; when she's not at school, she cares for our son while I'm at work, and somewhere in there, she studies. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law were determined that last Saturday would be the day for a baby shower, even though the baby isn't due until December. They rented a big hall, invited lots of people, so there was lots of work to be done. My wife had no say. She suggested they put it off a week so she could help, but they insisted it would be that week.

The problem is, my mother-in-law kept pressuring her to help out with the baby shower. My wife respectfully declined. Now my mother-in-law, along with others who helped out with the party, are resentful that my wife did not help.

Did my wife have a moral obligation to help out, or are my in-laws being unreasonable?

  • What watch does Stargate's Colonel Jack O'Neill wear?

I know for a fact that the character Samantha Carter wears a Casio G-shock; I've seen it in a close-up shot in an episode. I suspect the character Jack O'Neill also wears one. Does anyone know for certain what make and model of watch he's wearing?

  • Is it appropriate for 7 year old boys to attend baby showers?

My sister-in-law had a baby shower this past Saturday. I kept my son and nephew (ages 6 and 7) at my house and entertained them while my wife, sister, and mother went to the baby shower. Afterwards, my mother-in-law became upset that my wife didn't bring our son; she thought he should have went and felt my wife didn't bring him out of jealous spite. Hence, my question.

  • Why do Christians keep building churches?

We are supposed to believe that Christianity teaches Christians to help the less fortunate and to give until it hurts. Yet there are still many children in the world today dying of starvation. In spite of this, I have seen some impressive churches being built in North America. Some of these churches easily run into the millions of dollars to build. This, in spite of the fact that there are plenty of churches around that are underutilized and even abandoned. That same money could build a school and hire teachers in a 3rd world country to teach the children about agriculture and how to develop their own economy. All I see them getting from these Christians is a tent and some worthless teachings from the bible, teaching them not to use a condom so they can make more starving children more dependant on the "Charity" of the church. Why do Christians keep building their expensive yet worthless churches, instead of building real schools in the 3rd world?

  • Would you prefer to live in a trailer park, or a condo?

Suppose you are renting and have made the decision to get your own place. All you can afford is either a trailer in a trailer park, or a similarly priced cheap condominium. Emphasis on the word cheap. Which would you prefer to own? Why would you make this choice?

  • Why are Christians afraid of sex?

They fight tooth and nail to get pornography banned. Every time so much as a breast is flashed on television, they're up in arms. They lobby to get rid of strip clubs. Yet the naked human body is natural, and sex is a natural human function that's necessary for reproduction of our species. It's also a great escape from lifes miseries and makes those who engage in it feel much better. The Roman Catholic church is so afraid, they even prohibit birth control. Why are Christians so afraid of sex?

  • Would he have killed if he was an Atheist?

A child molester in Pennsylvania shot and killed 5 little Amish girls in a school house. In his suicide note, he said he was mad at "God" for taking the life of his daughter nine years ago, which indicates that lashing out at "God" was a motivational factor. Had he not been indoctrinated with religious beliefs and let to live naturally as an Atheist, do you think he would have still killed those 5 little girls? Why or why not?

  • You tip waiters, why not the cashier at McDonalds?

It is customary in modern culture to tip waiters and waitresses that take your order and bring you your food. Why, then, do we not tip the cashier at McDonalds or other fast food restaurant? They are also paid minimum wage and work just as hard, do they not?
