what makes males have a higher bone density and how does this effect sports performance?

i work for a big company in the UK, I am an apprentice but have nearly qualified but at the moment I am available to work but have rang up the company to ask what work I am doing this week and their reply was that they do not have any work for me, as it being Christmas time I need the money but there is no work is there any employment law that states if the person is available to work but there is no work for them to do they should still get paid?? id just like some advice please.
