How do I obtain a CRB check from the UK from abroad?
I need to obtain a CRB check for a Canadian visa.
I lived in the UK for 2 years on a working holiday visa (2012-2013) (i'm from Australia), I visited home for a month and now I'm in Canada applying for a working holiday visa here. I need to obtain a CRB check for my application, but I have no proof of address (I don't have a permanent residence here, back home or in the UK anymore), and I don't have anybody I know here to sign for recognition of my passport photo.
Is there any way I can apply for it quickly, I need to send off my application very soon because I need to leave the country by mid June. Or any advice you can give me?
Thank you
3 AnswersImmigration7 years agoAdvice for buying a town bicycle?
I wanted to get a simple vintage-style bicycle for cycling to and from my work (it's not a long distance).
I'm thinking something along the Pashley sort of route (but not actually Pashley). I saw a bunch of beautiful bikes in Amsterdam last year (of course), and I was just curious.
How expensive is it to buy a nice bicycle in Amsterdam, one with a nice curved bike frame? And would it be worth me making a trip over there to buy one? Or should I just buy one over here, there doesn't seem to be a huge range though really.
3 AnswersCycling8 years agoIdentifying a bird call?
I'm in the West Midlands, UK and I can hear a bit of an unusual bird call out my window this evening. I'm very curious as to what it is? I tried recording a short sound bite and stuck it on Vocaroo, any ideas (it's quite quiet)? I don't think I've ever heard it before. If you can't hear it on the sound bite it's a series of short, sharp 'clucks' not high pitched and not at all melodic. It's pitch black so I can't see anything at all, it sounds like it's coming from a tree in my next door neighbour's garden.
2 AnswersBirds8 years agoWhat are your favourite country music compilations?
I am looking to expand my country music horizons with some wonderful and quality music. I would absolutely love to hear your favourite country music selections. Classic and modern are all welcome, I want to try it all out!
I don't even know where to start looking so I thought I would just ask instead
1 AnswerCountry8 years agoI have a domain name, what host should I use?
I have recently purchased a domain name for my website (I am still working through Wordpress at the moment) and I'm looking for a new host. It seems a lot of the websites I'm seeing offer the registration of a domain included, but seeing as I already have one, I was hoping that I could save a little money.
It's only a personal blog that I wanted to customise a little more so I bought a domain hoping I could upload a new (independently made) Wordpress theme to my website. Then all this hosting stuff sort of came about and I'm getting a little confused as to what I can physically do!
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm sorry if I sound like an idiot, I'm very new to all of this.
4 AnswersProgramming & Design8 years agoIs there a website that can produce custom dress patterns from a picture?
I've just taken up dress making as a personal hobby. I've found a few pictures that I want to reproduce with my own fabric, but I don't know how to make dress patterns. Is there a website or a company that can make you a paper pattern if you give them an image of, say, a dress?

1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts8 years agoCanada National Parks Advice?
Later this year me and my other half are going travelling from the UK across Canada. We're starting in Calgary, going up through Banff, Jasper and into BC to Prince George. We have calculated how much roughly it'll cost us and we've figured out we've got enough to visit one or two extra places on the way to Vancouver.
However, upon looking up how beautiful all of the National Parks are along the West coast, we were in two minds about which ones to go for. If anyone has been to any and had any particularly good experiences or bad experiences i'd love to hear suggestions! Thankyou

But I would like some advice on good brands, even though i'm a beginner I want to get a really nice one to treat myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I think I might get a Baritone model, i've heard a few different sorts and I quite likes the sound.

3 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoGood Recipe for Tiramisu?
I know you put rum in it sometimes but other than that I have no clue how to make it. I have some Sailor Jerry's rum if that's any good, do you have to alter the recipe if it's a different type of rum?
Does anyone have a good recipe for Tiramisu and some tips on how to make it? :)? I'm having a party in a few days and wanted a big enough one for perhaps 30 servings to be on the safe side :)?
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes10 years agoNew Upcoming Latin American Cinema/Film websites?
I love world cinema! But i'm having some difficulty in finding any websites that publish new and upcoming films that are coming out in the near future to cinema. It's quite difficult to find any websites in the UK, i've sifted through hundred of pages and I still can't find anything that's any good.
In an ideal world, I would love a website that has good news of up to date films coming out in the near future or future projects that are coming out soon in Latin America.
If anyone has any idea that would be lovely and I would be so grateful! :)
1 AnswerMovies10 years agoSmall business start up advice?
I have always wanted to be my own boss, and seeing as I cannot find a job at the moment (along with the many other recent graduates i'm sure) I thought a time like now may be a good start. I'm by no means well off, I recently finished my degree and I don't have much money to my name, although i'm in a stable living condition, so I wouldn't have to pay rent, thankfully. I would love to set up my own vintage tea room selling hundreds of types of tea and hand made cakes (I'm a keen baker!)
I've heard that there are a few grants that you can apply for if you're starting up a small business. And I know there are small business start up loans and stuff (i'm trying to steer clear of that for now, because I hate the idea of having a looming lot of debt over my head!). Is there anything specific for young people, I'm only 20 years old?
I am fully aware of how difficult it is going to be to do this, but I am determined, and very enthusiastic about what I want to do! If anyone could give any financial or business-ey advice (of which I have no experience) I would be very grateful!
Thankyou!
6 AnswersSmall Business10 years agoNew York City Advice?
I have a prospective job offer where I could end up in New York at some point and I would appreciate some advice. I have never been to the USA before (i'm from the UK) and i'm looking for answers from people who have lived or currently live in New York and know it very well!
If you have any advice on what are the (I hate to use such a general word) 'best' places to live. In short, the places with the least crime, not too overpriced and relatively near the centre - as I don't know where i'll be situated yet. Also, any other general advice for living in the city would be appreciated also!
Thankyou!

I used to have both the primrose bakery and hummingbird bakery cupcake books. But they have run away from me somewhere in my pantry, and i now can't find them. Does anyone have a chocolate cupcake recipe from either book (with frosting) that they can type up for me pretty please =)?
I remember cooking them for my sister's birthday last year and she absolutely adored them, so i wanted to treat her to it again this year =)
Thankyou!

3 AnswersMobile Phones & Plans1 decade agoProblems with iTunes?
I seem to be having some problems importing stuff (namely films) into my iTunes at the moment. It's quite annoying. I've tried the conventional drag and drop from documents to iTunes, and the File>Import File> File method. But it's still not working, i've tried .avi files, they dont work. Do i have to convert them again into another file type? =( It's getting a proper pain in the bum, all i want to do is watch films on there lol!
Please help it's driving me nuts
