  • Renewal of lease on rental house?

I honestly don't think he would have any reason to, but our lease on rental house is up in July. I sent in a request with our rent check this month to renew the lease, however, I'm wondering if he DOES decide that he does not want to renew with us what kind of notice he has to give us if any at all? We haven't done anything out of the ordinary or against the rules, this is just out of curiousity.

  • What kind of candy can be eaten during passover?

I always have candy on my desk for the kids at work, however, a small handful of the kids are Jewish and cannot eat the candy during passover. I would like to pick up something for them as well, but I have no idea what to get. We do have Kosher grocery stores in the area, any suggestions?

  • Moving furniture away from the wall?

Often times when reading home decorating magazines, the decorators advise moving living room furniture away from the wall (like so there is a space between the back of your couch and the wall). What do you think of this? Will it even work if my living room is a bit small?

  • I really don't know that much about gardening, but...?

I would like to do some basic things to my yard to make it look better. First off, what is easier/better: to plant SEEDS for flowers or to buy the potted flowers and plant those? And secondly, what types of flowers come back every year? And lastly, when do I know that it's a good time to start planting?

Or in my case, go back a few years (as I have been going to college for 8 years now), would you change your degree? What did you get your degree in? What would you change it to, and why?

  • How to keep sweaters from getting pilly?

Is there any "trick" to keeping sweaters from getting pilly? I wash sweaters on the gentle cycle in cold water with Woolite, and I line dry them. After they are dry I give them a quick toss in the dryer to soften them up.

  • A big birthday party EVERY year?

My niece is turning 4 this year, and my brother and his wife are YET AGAIN having a giant birthday party for her at my brother's in-laws house. They don't just invite aunts and uncles and grandparents, they invite cousins and friends and children... it's just insane.

I can understand having a first birthday with everyone, but does every year have to be so BIG? What are your thoughts on birthday parties for children?

  • Fun activities for a 4 year old girl?

I'm very excited because this summer I will be watching my four year old niece every Tuesday. I have some things in mind for us to do: going to the zoo and the park and the city museum (a museum for kids, not like an art museum!). I also have a few "art activities" for us to do when it's really hot or rainy out. But I'd really like to compile a good sized list of activities so she doesn't get bored. What are your suggestions?

I know it's up to the school's rules and the doctor's recommendations, but on average, how many days would a child have to miss school if they had pink eye?

  • Do you think companies should be required by law to provide sick days?

My current job is the first time I've ever had paid sick days, I work for a school district so I think they really want us to not come in and infect the kids. But I remember when I worked for companies that did not give paid sick days, and I used to go into work when I was sick, regardless of whether or not I thought I was contagious, because I didn't want to take a day off unpaid. Do you think companies should be required by law to provide paid sick days in order to avoid ill workers getting their fellow employees sick? Or should people continue to just suck it up and go to work or take the day off unpaid?

  • Can I cut my crock pot recipes in half?

It's just me and my husband, and though we like making things in the crock pot, some recipes just make SO MUCH and we get tired of the leftovers and they go to waste. Can I cut my crock pot recipes in half and still use the same size crock pot? Do I have to cut down the cooking time at all?

  • ANTM last night...?

What did you think of Kimberly walking off the show? I totally wasn't expecting that. She was one of my favorites, too. And did you agree with their elimination of Atalya? I thought she was boring, so I appreciated her getting the boot.

  • What could I have done in this situation?

My husband and I recently flew back from Phoenix, and on the 3 hour flight we sat next to a man who sniffed (really more of a "snort") about every 15 seconds. It was extremely annoying, and he did it the whole time except for the hour he was asleep.

Could I have said something? Handed him a kleenex? Anything? Or would you just put up with it like we did?
