3 AnswersMovies1 decade agoWhen are cross border operations into Pakistan NOT an acceptable practice?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100927/ap_on_re_as/as...
"KABUL, Afghanistan – NATO helicopters in eastern Afghanistan launched rare airstrikes into Pakistan, reportedly killing more than 50 militants after an outpost near the border came under attack from insurgents, officials said Monday."
As in Vietnam, insurgents strike from "safe-havens". In this case, from Pakistan. It seems as if we are striking back in self defense. This is a common sense approach to the danger NATO forces face. My question is, what would make these cross border retaliatory strikes an unacceptable practice?

5 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoWhat became of this community?
I've visited this concern prior to this in other questions. What became of the very FIRST Christian community as described in two places in Acts:
The Fellowship of the Believers
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe [4] came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. -Acts Ch. 2
and....
They Had Everything in Common
32 Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. 33 And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. 34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold 35 and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need. 36 Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus, 37 sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet. -Acts Ch. 4
Paul mentions this community and James (Brother of Jesus?) seems to be the leader. This sect in Judea and Jerusalem seems to be different to the communities Paul founded throughout the Mediterranean. What became of this sect, and did they survive the Jewish Revolt and the sacking of Jerusalem by Titus in 70 CE ?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoJesus crucified for leading an armed insurrection?
The Roman punishment for crucifixion was reserved for crimes such as rebellion, treason and robbery. It seems obvious, therefore Jesus was executed for inciting an armed rebellion against Rome. Gospel authors therefore took pains to depict christianity as a religion of peace for a kingdom of another world (heaven), except here......
"Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered. He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. It is written: `And he was numbered with the transgressors' ; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment." The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords." "That is enough," he replied."-Luke 22:35-38
-Did the Luke's author slip up and allow this treasonous passage in? Was Jesus leading an armed insurrection?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoActs 4:32-37 Am I alone in thinking this is VERY socialistic/communal description of the 1st church?
Acts 4:32-37 (New International Version)
The Believers Share Their Possessions
32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. 33With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. 34There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.
36Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means Son of Encouragement), 37sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles' feet.
-Karl Marx couldn't have created a more egalitarian community!
