  • Show Name?

Looking for a show name for next year foal. Sire is Don Carlos. Dam is Bezaubernde (in english means Enchanting, Charming, Bewitching or any variations of those). Needs to incorporate the mares name (english version) and if I can get the studs name in there too that would be great (but probably very difficult). Dont know sex or colour (will be bay, black or red) so give me lots of options. Thanks!

  • Fun Games For Teens?

So at my school, I am applying for leadership council. I have made it to the group interview stage where everyone (about 20 students), have to lead a game within the group as our "interview". It is supposed to be like an icebreaker but a bit bigger and everyone already knows who everyone is. Looking for some game suggestions that would be relatively easy to run. It is for teens so I want something that would actually be fun for them.

  • Horse feed for weight gain?

Ok so I am a little overwhelmed right now. I have been going through and doing some researching on the different feed used to fatten up a horse. There are just so many out there and I am not sure what will actually work. I know that every horse responds differently to every feed.

So basically I have a 14 y/o 16.2hh TB mare that I have owned for a year and a half. She is kept outside 24/7 other than the odd night in the winter or the night before a show. I work her about 3 times a week for maybe 45mins-1hr on the flat and then pop her over a few jumps maybe 2 out of 3 of those times. More work doesn't seem to make her lose any weight so I'm not worried about working her too much. She has unlimited access to good quality hay and is constantly eating(in a herd of only 4 horses so there is not much fighting for food). Unlimited access to fresh water and a mineral black as well.

She is completely healthy other than looking quite skinny. She has a good shiny coat and loads of energy. She has been dewormed and the vet has checked her over completely so her teeth are good, stomache ulcers aren't a problem ect.

She was underweight when I got her and was just being fed 3lbs of fat&fibre once a day. We bumped her up to 4lbs after about a month. It still wasn't making much of a difference so we put her to 3lbs twice a day. She was on this throughout the whole winter(she does wear a heavy blanket) with this and we didn't realize how much weight she had lost until she shed off her coat. So we bumped her up to 4lbs twice a day. After a few months we took her off the fat&fibre and fed her fusion by masterfeed at the same amount. We then added in about 1lbs of alfalfa-timothy with each of her feedings. After another couple months we bumped it up to 2lbs with each feeding. Then about 6 months ago we started giving her about 2lbs of rice bran with each of her feedings. She is now at 4lbs of fusion, 2lbs of or alfalfa-timothy cubes and 2lbs of rice bran twice a day. Through this winter she has not lost any weight but I am still not happy at the rate she is gaining (I know it doesn't happen overnight but its been a year and a half). This coming year I am planning on showing a lot more and she needs to gain up a lot more weight.

I have looked through some of the other questions that have been posed that are similar to mine and there are so many different ideas that people are giving and I don't know which ones might work on my horse and not. So far I have looked at Gain Weight By Cox Vet Lab, Ultimate Finish™ 25, XTN® Extreme Nutrition High Fat Horse Feed, Alfa-A Original and Cool Calories 100. These are the ones that look like they could work but I am not sure which one I should pick over another one. I don't know whether I should just be adding a supplement or adding a new kind of feed or a combination of feed. Can someone tell me which ones of these would be suitable for my mare or why or why not one of them would work or anything else you have found has worked in a similar situation. Anything would be helpful.
