What's a good name for my protagonist?
Hi everyone! I'm currently writing a novella which I am going to have adapted into a pilot script by a renowned television writer. The problem is, I am currently on the third chapter and have not thought up a name for my main character yet. For now I've been using pronouns and thought I could just go back and fill in the name later, but giving her a name makes her feel more real and will help the writing flow better.
The character is a fourteen year old girl who is very interested in creative writing and daytime television. The story is set in 1998, but I don't necessarily need a name that was popular then or anything like that. I'm just looking for something that would fit a creative, artist type, and I'm sick of the typical names that you hear over and over in television and movies nowadays!
Thanks!
7 AnswersMovies1 decade agoHow do you feel about the possibility of a "Gilmore Girls" reunion movie?
At the Fox upfronts last week, where "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has a new pilot hitting airwaves in the fall (it's called "The Return of Jezebel James" and stars Parker Posey), she admitted that in the next year or two, she hopes to make a two-hour "Gilmore Girls" TV-movie that ties up all those loose threads!
The actors were surprised by the news, are you? Would you watch it? What would you want to happen? Most of all, do you think it's necessary or do you think the finale was wrapped up nicely enough, even without Amy's final four words with which she always wanted to end the series...
6 AnswersDrama1 decade agoBleeding when puppy tries to poop?
My four month old Shih-Tzu had diarrhea yesterday. I thought it was from dehydration because it was hot in Southern California yesterday, but this morning when he woke up to poop, it was mostly blood. I rushed him to the vet, where they gave him fluid under the skin and ran a fecal test, which they said came back negative. The vet started him on flagyl for the diarrhea anyway and told me to give him a "bland diet." Later the vet called back and said it wouldn't hurt to put him on medicine for giardia (sp?), which I did immediately. He has tried to poop twice since taking both medications, and both times only a drop of poop comes out followed by some drips of blood, which stain and smell his anus and the hair around it. He refuses to drink any water, and I've begun forcing it by giving it to him in a syringe. He's a little lethargic, as well. I'm going to follow up with the vet tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas or second opinions about what it could be.
12 AnswersDogs1 decade agococcidiosis and other parasites question...?
When I first got my puppy, he checked out fine in his initial vet visit but then started to have diarrhea with a little blood in his stool. I took him back to the vet, and he was diagnosed with coccidiosis, given medication, and recovered beautifully. I've been trying to research online where he might have picked up the parasites but haven't found any satisfactory answers. Anyone know how dogs pick up parasites, namely that one? Thanks!
7 AnswersDogs1 decade agoDistructive Puppy?
I have a four month old Shih-Tzu, and I got him 5 weeks ago. For the first three weeks I was pretty much home with him all the time, except for the occasional movie or errand. Now, I've gone back to work, and I leave him home alone. He's taken up the habit of going to the bathroom on the pee pads, which is a good thing, but when I'm not there to clean it up right away, he pulls the pee pad and wads it into a ball around his mess. I can't tell if he's being destructive or trying to help by cleaning up. The problem is, if he has to go again, he ends up going on the floor because there is no more pee pad. I can't really yell at him because I never catch him in the act. Any suggestions?
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCan anyone recommend a groomer in LA?
I have a four month old Shih-Tzu puppy who needs his nails clipped and the hair on his paws and around his face and tail trimmed. Does anyone have a recommendation for a groomer in the Los Angeles CA area? Preferably I'd like a mobile groomer since I don't like the idea of leaving him at a place for four or five hours.
1 AnswerDogs1 decade agoCan anyone recommend OTC allergy medication?
I am slightly allergic to pet dander, and since I haven't lived with a dog in four years, and it's allergy season, my eyes are itchy, and my nose is stuffed, and it's been constant since I got my new puppy. I love him; he's worth it; but does anyone recommend any good over the counter eye or nasal spray or medicines to help deal?
4 AnswersAllergies1 decade agoHow long do you give a puppy NutraCal?
My vet recommended I give my puppy NutraCal 4-6 times a day (he's three months old) to supplement his food in case he doesn't eat much. I squeeze a little on my finger, and he loves it, but I was wondering how long you guys suggest I give it to him. A week? Two?
1 AnswerDogs1 decade agoMy puppy fell and is limping, does he need to go to the vet?
My 3 month old Shih-Tzu puppy jumped off my lap and landed funny. He got up and started walking right away, but he is limping. It's hard to tell which paw is the injured one, as he does not yelp when he walks or when I touch him. I've felt the joints, and they don't seem swollen. Should I let him walk if off or does he need to be rushed for x-rays?
