  • Why do Conservatives not know how to pronounce the phrase "Democratic Party?"?

I've noticed that the vast majority of high-profile conservatives and other right-wing partisans always use the word "Democrat" as the adjective--i.e. Democrat proposal, the Democrat Party--despite that this is a simply grammatical issue. Are conservatives ignorant or are they somehow afraid that labeling the Democrats as "democratic" might make them look better?

  • For all of you who deny global warming because of those e-mails, can you explain this?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091212/ap_on_sc/clima...

That's an article that details that although the tactics of those groups may have been pretty spiteful to some people, the science behind global warming is accurate and even the science from these two people is accurate. If you didn't actually look at the article, don't bother even answering.

  • Can anyone explain where in the Constitution the U.S. is classified as a "Christian nation?"?

A lot of right-wingers make the claim that the U.S. was founded on "Christian principles," though the Constitution was written largely by deists and state religion is explicitly forbidden. So, where in the constitution is the U.S. classified as a "Christian nation?"

**Keep in mind, being a majority Christian state is not relevant to being based upon Christian ideals.

  • Conservatives, I have a question...?

Why is it that so many conservatives on here lambaste liberal-leaning states as being full of "lazy people living off the government" when, in fact, liberal states like California, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington, New Jersey, Illinois, and Minnesota actually supply more tax dollars to the federal government than they take back in government services?

[Conversely, many staunchly conservative states such as Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas actually take in a greater dollar value of government services than they give back in federal income taxes.]

  • Where exactly is "Real America?"?

Right-wingers always try and talk about "Real America" as if there are parts of the U.S. that don't count as American (of course, they all correspond to places that tend to vote for Democrats). So, I'm curious to know where or what exactly this so-called "Real America" actually is and GIVE EVIDENCE/REASONING for this point.**

**Even putting that in all caps won't stop people from ignoring it, but I can always try...

  • Does anyone else find this ironic?

The people who are so hyper-nationalist and jingoist that they interpret any critique of the U.S. as "un-American" are now the same people who are declaring that the only thing separating us from being a fascist, communist, or socialist state is health care reform?

Think about it: every other industrialized democracy was able to implement a much larger government takeover of the health care industry without becoming communist or fascist, and an adjustment to the health care system does not change the foundation of the United States government from that of a republic to a fascist state on its own. This indicates that there is virtually no chance of health care causing any major anti-democratic shift, nor does it indicate the start of a slippery slope (if this was the case, why has no country gone this way?).

In short, doesn't it seem ironic that the same people who would defend America as a "bastion of liberty and freedom" now see health care as the only thing separating it from being a totalitarian state?

  • Conservatives, what is Obama doing that is actually curtailing your freedom?

There are tons of conservatives on here who daily claim that Obama's policies are "anti-freedom" or that they're going to create a fascist, communist, and/or socialist state, but I've never actually seen any evidence at all. Convince me that this isn't just a bunch of paranoid nonsense with ACTUAL EVIDENCE.

  • Why is insulting Israel anti-Semitic?

This is a snag that has come up whenever I've discussed anything pertaining to Israeli policy, yet there is no logic to this claim (beyond trying to use an ad-hominem).

  • Why do people dislike the French?

This is something I've been curious about for quite a while, as francophobia is so rampant, particularly in the U.S. I can see some justification for this in former French colonies, for example, but I'm really at a loss to explain it in the U.S. beyond simple bigotry.

  • Can anyone give me a single piece of evidence to prove Creationism or Intelligent Design?

Keep in mind that I said "evidence." That means actual, scientific proof that supports Creationism or Intelligent Design: not unproven speculation, not trying to "prove Evolution wrong," not a religious appeal.

  • Why do people think Creationism and Intelligent Design are science?

I've discussed this issue with a large number of creationists, religious fundamentalists, and the like, and they seem to believe that creationism and/or Intelligent Design should be taught alongside evolution in science classrooms (if they believe evolution should be taught at all). My question is: can anyone name a single piece of scientific evidence that supports either the creationist or ID claims?

**Keep in mind, when I say "evidence," I mean solid, testable facts which support your case, rather than try to debase evolution: not religious dogma, not mere speculation on complexity that you can't back up with evidence, not distorting evidence for other theories and assuming this makes your case more valid, but actual facts.
