  • What's with MSNBC, and this bailout in the House? ?

Just heard the MSNBC anchor say the House of Reps are debating the bailout bill, right now. He then said it might fail for the second time? Didn't Nancy Pelosi say it wouldn't go up for a vote unless they were sure it would pass this time??

  • In pure capitalism, should a home appreciate in value? ?

How come homes appreciate in America? Do they do so in Europe too? How come my car, clothes, electronics and washing machine don't appreciate? If we bailout the banks, yet don't correct this artificial phenomena of home appreciation, won't we just be fooling ourselves with a little more credit and time? This artificial home appreciation has been going on for decades. In a pure free market, how can you have an asset that ages, and one uses and lives in, yet one can sell for a profit in five or seven years?? A home is to keep the rain off your head. There is a "cost" to living? Food, and clothing have a cost? They don't appreciate, however! Doesn't America need to take a hit and accept devaluations in their home values? Don't home builders need to start building smaller homes? For our long term survival, doesn't America need to abandon the home as a monetary profit maker investment thing?? Explain how I'm wrong.

  • What's with Sarah Palin's glasses? ?

Read where she was nearsighted or myopic and had astigmatism. Saw some pictures later where she was wearing glasses around 12 years of age? Any nearsighted person that was diagnosed as a young teen knows, you need constant increases in optical correction. Looking thru someone's glasses, the eye gets smaller with nearsightedness, depending on the strength of correction. Also the side of the head or temples have an "indentation" when you look at the person wearing the glasses. That's why people with pretty heavy myopia don't like their glasses. It alters your appearance. Now to Sarah Palin. She's wore glasses as a youngster. They say she's nearsighed or myopic? She has no indentation thru the glass at her temples? Maybe some astigmatism, but what's with this myopia? One of you optometry students please advise??

  • Where do the Orleans and London Canals empty?

I've seen these New Orleans canal diagrams. Unlike the other canals that empty into the Mississippi River, Orleans and London Canals just seem to dead end? What's with that?

  • If McCain wins, would Palin move that whole family to DC?

If she did, the young kids would lose their friends in AK. The old man would have to leave the business? Who'd watch the house? They'd have to sell it? Seems like she'd move, and then fly home a lot, and telecommute from AK most times? They can set up that video stuff easy these days?

  • Hair relaxer advancements of recent times? ?

I'm an older white male, but I noticed recently people like Secretary Condi Rice, and Michelle Obama, and the kids, all have flowing wind blowing straight hair? Can't be from an 'iron'? Is that some chemical? If they get caught in the rain, does that all change? Lastly, is long term use of whatever, safe for the hair and scalp?

  • What's in McDonald's margarine?

I've heard McD's has finally got away from hydrogenated oil and trans fats? What kind of oil are the using for cooking by the way? Main question: in their breakfasts they give these little packets labeled margarine? Is that like the original margarine made from hydrogenated corn or some vege oil??

  • At the molecular level, is microwaved food actually different than conventionally cooked food?

Hopefully I can get something empirical, instead of the holistic green anecdotal comments? I know science has shown that partially hydrogenated and hydrogenated oils, (trans fats) are molecularly different than all other animal and plant fats. Is there really a scientific difference in the molecule between a microwaved food, and a standard or reflective type heat source?

  • Percentage wise, why are so many Roman Catholic clerics sexual deviants?

I was raised Roman Catholic. I was taught about the fire and eternal perdition, where the fire didn't consume, from birth. Percentage wise, how come there's so many RC clerics that are pedophiles and sexual deviants? Supposedly, they go through this long and arduous seminary ordeal too? Where is the sweet Jesus and loving God in all this? Seems counterintuitive doesn't it? Could Christianity, and Catholicism have this Jesus all wrong??

  • For UK folk, does that Buster Martin actually inhale those cigarettes?

Buster is that 101 yr old British marathon runner. They show him sipping on pints of beer while taking breaks in his training. Saw an interview where he showed the reporter his pack of cigarettes. Please, only if you know for sure. Does he actually inhale the things? If he does, how much a day does he average?? Have a hard time believing that story. I think he must, just puff, and not inhale?

  • A question about the Jewish Messiah?

I'm a former Christian. I had Jewish people tell me the Messiah will have some rank and position in the community. Could never be that Jesus of Nazereth. Jewish scripture talks about knowing the Messiah by his "stripes". Every Jew I've talked to says that doesn't mean the "stripes" of a whip on someone's back. The NT gospel writers had Jesus go into Jerusalem on a donkey. Supposedly fulfilling items in Zechariah 9:9. Anyhow, in Zech 9:9 it references a "King", "bearing salvation", and then the word, "lowly"? Is that "King" the Messiah or the prophet that Moses and Jeremiah talked about? If so, and the Messiah is suppose to have some rank and stature, how does one reconcile that word "lowly" in the text??
