  • 10 points! Should I tell him I'll be in town?

A few months ago I was briefly "seeing" someone in a city about 30 minutes away. What I thought was completely platonic at first soon became an intense few weeks of us going out for dinner and drinks then back to his place. We got into an argument at the end of those few weeks but have since reconciled. However, I suggested that perhaps we shouldn't see each other for awhile.

I'll be back in the area on Saturday and am debating if I should tell him that I'll be in town. It would be nice to see him, but since I was the one who initiated our texts after we reconciled, I'm worried that he's totally uninterested in seeing me anymore.

Should I tell him or just let it go? The last time we "spoke" was when we texted each other Merry Christmas in December. (I texted him first.)

  • 10 points! Should I talk to him again or let it go?

A few weeks ago I got a shady text from my ex-boyfriend, whom I've remained friends with for the last year and a half (we broke up in August 2010). I asked him if he was in town (he lives 45 minutes away) and if he wanted to go grab a drink. He said that he wasn't and that he didn't want to spend any more time or money on our "fake dates." (I guess he thinks we flirt even though I am in a serious relationship with someone else.)

It was surprising because even though we weren't especially close as friends, he told me to think of him as a friend first and an ex second. So what gives about his new change of heart? What do I do now? Just let it go and not talk to him? I haven't talked to him since he said that.

He may be hurt because whenever I'm in his hometown and we go out, I crash on his living room couch if I've been drinking but won't hook up/date him now that I'm in a relationship. (My boyfriend knows that I've stayed there.)

This ex and I never got serious.

  • 10 points to first answer! Why was my friend acting strange?

Last Saturday night, a friend of mine was playing a show at a bar downtown and invited me. I went, and we stayed until Last Call. We went back to his place to watch a TV show he told me about, and at the end of it, he asked if I wanted to hook up. I said no because I have a boyfriend, and he respected that. I crashed on his couch and left the next morning.

Throughout the week we have texted a little bit because we exchanged numbers a few nights before his show. We will hang out again soon but haven't made plans yet.

Last night I unexpectedly ran into him at another bar, where he was sitting with his ex (whom he's still friends with), a friend of hers, two of my friends, and me.

In contrast to last weekend, he didn't say a word to me. Because of it, I felt awkward, so I didn't interact with him either.

His behavior was surprising. What gives?

I've known him for a few years because we have mutual friends and have hung out together with them. However, we have only hung out one-on-one once (last Saturday). He is friends with his ex, but I hear they won't get back together. I'm not sure if they are intimate anymore. When we text, it's is about work, weekend plans, etc., so nothing sexual.

  • What did my best friend mean?

My best friend and I went to Vegas earlier this week. We were in the hotel room reading one of my magazines, which had an infographic detailing the most concentrated areas of cheaters, according to a website that enables married people to cheat.

One of the top cities was in a state that my boyfriend and I would like to move to in a few years. My friend's relationship with my boyfriend is good, and she approves of him.

But when we were looking at it, she said, "This state has a lot of cheaters in it. Don't you want to move there?"

I said yes but that I have my boyfriend and don't have a reason to think he'd cheat.

(First we're moving to the city where she lives then will move away after a few years to begin a family together. She's happy that we're moving close to her but wants us to stay.)

Then she said that "well, some people could be converts."

My boyfriend isn't a cheater. Why'd she say that? I don't think they have done anything.

  • Does this name flow? If not, what are some suggestions you have?

    Athena Claire Payne

Our last name is Payne. We love Athena and would like to keep it as a first name. We also don't like "stock" middle names like Marie, Nicole, etc.
