  • Health Care Reform, Young Adults, and Pre-existing conditions.. what's the deal?

I lost my health insurance under my parents in April of this year because I turned 22. I am of course eligible to get it back in January of 2011. Will my insurance cover a condition that was acquired between when I lost my insurance and when I get it back?

Any links are also much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Flu-like symptoms won't go away, any alternative treatments?

I've had flu like symptoms for 6 days now, including: fever, aches, chills, lethargy, and some swollen glands. I saw my doctor after the second day only for her to tell me that it wasn't the flu, but gave me an anti-biotic just in case and as suspected it has done nothing.

Yesterday, day 5, I woke up to very bad headaches and neck pains which don't even respond to vicodin. Soon after my calves started hurting for some strange reason and I am not able to stand up for more than 30 seconds before it becomes very bad. Now on day 6, my shoulder are sore, and I am about fed up, but don't know what to do.

Are there any alternative treatments for my symptoms besides the basic tylenol/motrin, hot showers (which just induce fever), and the like? My doctor won't see me again until tomorrow and I have an exam at 8am! HELP!

  • Managerial Accounting Problem: Direct Labor Usage Variance?

A company provides the following standard data per unit of product:

    Direct material (3 gallons @ $5pergallon) $15

    Direct labor (2hrs. @ $12 per hr.) $24

During the period, the company produced and sold 24,000 units incurring the following costs:

Direct materials 75,000 gallons at $4.90 per gallon

Direct labor 48,500 hours at $12.50 per hour

What is the direct labor usage variance?

**I know that the answer is $6,000 unfavorable BUT can someone please do their best to describe the formula on how to get this? My final is tomorrow, thanks!**
