I am currently atheist but becoming very interested in Hinduism and love a lot of the philosophies. i do not believe there actually gods out there, but view the ndu gods as representations or personifications of different ideas. I have heard that Hinduism can be compatible with atheism. are there atheist denominations of Hinduism?is samkhya and mimamsa denominations? are there many atheistic hindus? thank you!

I am teaching myself French and I have an area of confusion. From different sources i have heard different ways to say "the roof". So what is the difference between le toiture and le toit? Can you use either one? Do they mean different things? Is one better than e other to use?

Why should the government be able to create a health care system by taking money from people who might not even use it?why should healthy people have to pay to provide people who choose to smoke and eat junk food?

I believe in a progressive tax system because taking the same amount from rich and poor hurts the poor a lot more. My friend argued that the government does not have the right to take away the rich's luxurious lifestyle, even if it isn't fair that they live in luxury while others are starving. So why is it ethical for the gov to take money from the rich?

I am desparate for a good book to read. atonement caught my eye, but is it too inappropriate for my age? i am looking for genuinely good quality novel(i.e. not anything like twilight). i am an advanced reader for my age(i love the new yorker for example) but honestly get bored halfway through many of the old classics(dracula, grapes of wrath). so is atonement a good option and if, not what do you recommend?
